"Tweener
A morally ambiguous wrestler who is neither a face nor heel (an in betweener),[1] also sometimes describes a heel who is usually cheered or a face who is usually jeered, especially when two faces or two heels face each other."

I happen to agree with this assessment. With that said who is the GOAT Tweener in today's WWE? Based on this definition I feel like half of the roster is in the conversation. Seriously. I honestly don't think I can really settle on one star, but if I did had to choose it could potentially be The Miz. With a little more work I think he could fall under this conversation as The GOAT Tweener.

Steve Austin in 1997. It's not even close.

Edit: I thought it was all time :shrug Of the current roster there's none except for Brock. You're either a happy go lucky face with no personality or a chicken shit heel. They try to pretend that Reigns is a tweener but then he gets booked like a babyface in his feuds and matches.

No one really comes to mind. Tweener is a very overused word by fans.

Even as a huge Miz fan I cant give him the nod here because he's been a directionless jobber for much of his career. His booking will always hold him back in any discussion like this, even in my eyes. Its hard to stack him up in an all time list just because WWE book him like absolute shit most of the time.

He's also never really been a tweener, he's been a heel for the most part, but a heel who at times gets cheered and appreciated for his heel work. But still a heel.

Probably didn't need the definition as most know what a tweener is LOL.

KO, The Miz, and Alexa Bliss are really good charismatic heels and they are very popular with the fans.

You would think the definition would be unnecessary, but much like irony, tweener is one of those words that everyone knows but no one really understands.

For one thing tweeners are mostly theoretical, but don't actually exist in reality. I'm sorry, but Austin and all of the others listed here aren't really tweeners. They're just faces that got booed or heels that got cheered.

That being said, Brock is probably the closest thing to a real tweener to ever exist since he's treated as a prize fighter and his matches are built more like MMA fights that traditional wrestling matches so the usual morality doesn't apply.

Stone Cold
Kevin Nash
Scott Hall
The Rock
Brock Lesnar
Undertaker

Cena and Reigns are shouts too. I liked what Cena was doing at the start of the year where he was winding up AJ Styles and the "workrate" cucks by rubbing his success in their face.
Reigns I like when he plays the smug, swaggering thug who loves to get a rise out of the smarks in cities like NYC, Brooklyn, Philidelphia and Chicago.

If we're just looking at the current roster then I'm going to agree with the popular answer: Brock.

I have to give a nod to Asuka too though. Up until the Ember Moon feud she was going from babyface to more heelish depending on her opponent. I thought it was really well done and always felt natural.
