It's really sad how WWE always brings up their social media numbers and twitter/facebook/instagram followers and how they occasionally have "celebrity" guests on Raw/SD. You can just tell that they're trying so hard to convince people that they're still relevant even though interest in them has been going down ever since 2001
think its more people want them to try and be relevant rather than just pretending like they are.
I dont know how trending works but Im assuming its a simple case of people using a certain hashtag, so even if people are trashing something its still "trending".
basically social media stuff isnt a good gauge for anything, Im sure a business like wwe can conjure up fake followers etc to inflate their popularity.
Torrenting it, I usually succeed in filtering out about 10 minutes of content worth watching, out of an average Raw.
On topic, yeah, it's mind-boggling. For some reason they just don't get contemporary pop culture and their every attempt to "move with the times" just comes off as cringey.
It doesn't help that they are always about three months late to the party and afterwards won't stop beating the dead horse, long after a fad has passed.
Do you enjoy watching WWE? It seems like all your posts are anti-WWE, with particular venom aimed at Alexa Bliss and the Women's division.
My Wifey watches a lot of stuff I absolutely hate like Teen Mom, the Kardashians, and the various Real Housewives shows. When they're on I do something else. I don't follow them, I don't talk about them, and I don't go on message boards discussing how much their storylines and characters suck. They're not my thing and I don't waste a thought on them(accept for this post to make a point).
If you love wrestling and are just hoping it regains some of its former glory I can understand, but it seems like you just enjoy trashing the product.
I'm not trying to be a dick. I'm just wondering what your motivation is to follow a product you don't seem to enjoy.
It's like your walking on broken glass just to complain about how much it hurts.
The worst is that when they try things like having Jon Stewart be a big actor in a WWE Title Match thinking " Hey, that will show how big we are " but in reality, it is really pathetic to see that every little B-Star in the entertainment can come in the WWE and they will make each of their superstars bow down to them, act as if those " stars " were so much more important than them and bring down their product
It is relevant. It's the biggest wrestling organization in the world. Besides this is what companies do they promote themselves as being something. I'm with the WWE on this 1.
Fan engagement=money. This is tried and true marketing in literally everything. Twitter/facebook/youtube=fan engagement. And to be fair, WWE is obviously not the juggernaut of the 80s/90s, but nothing lasts that long in the limelight.
I have no problem with the celebrity guests or hosts (for the most part), but the weekly infographics on ratings or social media numbers are a desperate cry that is telling the audience, "Yes...you can keep watching. Millions other do, and it is cool! Don't listen to what your friends or family say! Or what the media says."
There is a built in inferiority complex within WWE. An ironically we're reminded of that each time they run a "Did you know?" graphic.
Does Monday Night Football run the same graphics each week during the fall? No. And neither should WWE.
It has never been more irrelevant.
Banging on about Twitter does not make you culturally relevant and in touch with the times. And wheeling out the likes of Flo-Rida does not count either.
I'd actually have no issue with them getting Conor McGregor and Mayweather on Raw. They are 2 icons of pop-culture/sport and their upcoming fight is a talking point for people at the moment. That would make sense.

At the same time though, do you trust them to book a good show around those guys? knowing WWE they'd have Bayley come out and try to get them to hug it out.
Why watch something if you're gonna criticise every little thing they do, if your mate asked how they looked you wouldn't say 'fuckin terrible no one wants you'.
On one hand I completely agree. At the same time though pretty funny to think about how threads like these are just giving them an excuse to do it more...
I just don't know if anyone really believes the bullshit they bring up about how popular they are.
Getting their fans engaged is a smart course of action. That part makes sense. And while WWE has a lot less fans today then they used to they do get a good amount of money from those fans.
Smackdowns live audience. Let me put it this way, a whiłe ago I saw Louis C.K. At Madison Square Garden, he sold out three nights in a row, does anyone think WWE could do that anywhere besides Wrestlemania weekend? Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters hell Barry Manelo are tough to get tickets to and VERY expènsive on the secondary market. How hard is it to get a WWE ticket? It isn't. No ones breaking down the doors to see em.
I love it when they announce that they are trending because wwe apologetics are like "oh see wwe is so the best wrestling company ever just look at the trends" and completely ignore the fact that when wwe shows take place most of the world is in the middle of the night or early morning so they are basically the only thing on.
You think WWE thinks its fan opinions are relevant?
