Do you still Dislike Cena because of his past booking.

Cena seems to be pretty well liked and respected now, sure he gets "Let's go Cena, Cena Sucks" chants but the hate he gets doesn't seem to be as much as it used to.

With the matches he has had recently with AJ, with Bryan, his United States Open Challenge, taking time off, CM Punk feud, losing clean more often, it seems the hate has died down.

But my question is do any of you still have a dislike for Cena, for some of the stuff he did in the past. Examples him beating The Nexus at Summerslam years ago, being the blame for pushes being stopped such as Rusev, among other things. (I'm sure there's a lot more but I can't think of any right now)

Or have you let the past go, and even more so would you consider yourself a Cena fan.

For me, I've never actually disliked Cena to begin with. Actually I grew up with Cena, and I even enjoyed him before his rap gimmick, so I have always been pretty biased. Though there were times I cheered against him such as his feuds with Edge, and when he fought RVD at ONS, for the most part I've never really disliked Cena. So my opinion on him hasn't really changed. As a matter of fact I like him now more than I ever have. I like his matches (though I know they are finisher spamfest) and the big fight feel he brings when he wrestles.

So basically I really like Cena, always have, so I Can't say I've "forgiven him" lol but I'd imagine people who were really behind The Nexus, (Wade Barrett especially) Edge, Rusev, Ryback, and such might find it difficult.

Though I will admit I wasn't a fan of him winning certain matches like The 2013 Rumble, or 2 Money in the Banks, I can say that I still have always enjoyed Cena regardless.

Re: Have you "Forgiven" Cena

I still think he's one of the most annoying characters in WWE history, but he doesn't annoy me much anymore.
Basically this and also it was okay where I can change the channel from any WWE program and Cena wasn't there, then he started showing up on commercials, hosting award shows etc. I don't hate Cena, I'm just tired of seeing him.

Never. I could have before Rusev and Wyatt, but those were the last straws for me. The bridge too far.

Re: Have you "Forgiven" Cena

He,s turned out to be one of the best workers ever imo. The guy can have a good match with anyone. Didnt like him at the height of his superman push but his 2013-2016 stuff won me over. He hasnt been on top of the card since Bryans rise to the top except the odd ppv here and there.

I had started to appreciate Cena more and more for what he brought to the table; charisma, promo ability, larger than life superstar aura, big match feel, etc. But his feud with Miz earlier this year really soured me on him (and Nikki, thats a separate issue though). After Miz's 2016 a good feud with Cena could have re-established him as a serious World Title contender. Instead we got the complete opposite, instead Cena just finished the job that Ambrose had started earlier in the year and destroyed what credibility Miz had left and reduced him to being a pathetic jobber. Like Miz's Elimination Chamber blink and you missed it stint was stupid, and didn't benefit anyone, not even Cena. It was just a typical bullshit Cena feud only this time around Miz had to stand there for ten-fifteen minutes and just listen to Cena tear him down without getting to do anything back twice. Normally that only happens once in Cena feud; that promo where the heel says their piece then Cena has a big never ending speech where he shits all over the heel and the heel has to just stand there like a bitch and not do a single thing. It was just another typical Cena feud where all it does is make Cena look good, and completely and utterly shits all over the heel. Miz went into that feud with some potential to still be a big player in WWE, he came out of it looking like a hapless dork; booking that continued into Miz's Raw burial, I mean "trade".

And then to cap it all off the Cena's win the feud and then immediately leave, they dont put anyone over, they dont even say "seeya" to their fans. They just beat the Mizanins and then leave. So any rub from a WM win is pointless, and we're stuck with a WM jobber on TV every week. That whole feud just really put me off both Cena's because it was a feud that took one of WWE's best and brightest of 2016 and just crapped all over him for the sake of a proposal. All Miz's, and Maryse's hard work just resulted in them being pawns for an Engagement.

I'd be happy if neither Cena ever returns.

I never really resented him. I left the product behind for much of his time on top as I just wasn't enjoying it anymore. I never questioned his talent or if he deserved to be on top for at least a good portion of the time he was. Since coming back to the show I've really grown to appreciate him.

I've grown to realize that John Cena was never the problem, so I'll never forgive WWE for trying to cover up their mistakes for the past 12 years.

Re: Have you "Forgiven" Cena

Forgive is a strong word and in my opinion not applicable here since in reality Cena has done nothing except try to earn an honest living for himself in his chosen field. That said, the dude had a lot to do with ending my thirty year love affair with the wrestling industry so he's one of the first things to come to my mind when I think about why I stopped watching wrestling. Given perspective, I realize that my anger though should be directed more towards The McMahons and less towards Cena himself as they were the one who were chiefly responsible for his rise to prominence. In short, I'll never forget how it all came to a sad end for me and therefore will likely never be a fan of John Cena.

I never took it personal like some fans did back in the day, but I'll never like his character. He drove a lot of people away and I never cared for him as a main eventer. I respect him for his hard work and all that, but that doesn't mean I care for him as a top star.

And I don't give him any false praise because of Roman's ascent either. Some who've hated him in the past suddenly put him on a high pedestal out of spite for Reigns, but that's bullshit. Cena still sucks all the same, no matter how good or bad Roman or anyone is.

With Cena only around half the time now, he's not as bad I guess in terms of exposure. Not that it really matters to me, I only watch the rare segment on youtube now so I wouldn't see him anyways.

Re: Have you "Forgiven" Cena

Think forgiven is the wrong word.

I just find him boring...

I know a lot of people enjoy his in ring work but i find his matches very formulaic and stale so i don't even enjoy the character from that stand point.

Its a shame because i remember being so happy when he beat the big show at Wrestlemania 20 for the US Title and to this day it is still one of my favourite matches.

but ever since he dropped the U.S title to Carlito in that really terribly acted stabbing storyline and then in a rather forced and contrived way beat JBL for the WWE title at Mania 21 it all just went down hill for me.

The character of John Cena just evolved into quite a boring, bland hogan rip off in my opinion and i have not enjoyed any of his work since.

Re: Have you "Forgiven" Cena

There's nothing that I know about that begs my forgiveness.

What? He protected his spot through backstage shenanigans? Most every wrestler has attempted to protect their spot via backstage politicking. That takes place in every profession in the world. So what. I never begrudged him for that.

That he was never a great hold-v-hold wrestler? A lot of the greats were not, either. Besides, the hold-v-hold aspect of wrestling matters the least outside of bingo halls so I don't care about that.

Am I a John Cena fan? Nope. Not even a little bit. Even his latest run of spot fest, no sell, finisher kickout, spam fest, indie style shit matches that seem to go over well with today's crowd and get rated highly by far too many who don't understand what makes a quality professional wrestling match on the WWE stage haven't changed my thoughts on him.

But his character gets people going, which counts for tons. And he can cut a hell of a promo - and I don't mean his "you say something I get the last world and bury your career" promos - I mean his passion, energy, articulation and his ability to generate a response. In that he is top shelf; far better than anyone else of his era, IMO, and that - character and mic ability- matter infinitely more than knowing 10000000x holds on the WWE level.

Love him or hate him, Cena has "it". Dude can walk into a room and get a massive response. You can't learn that in the gym. Nobody can teach you that. You have that ability or you don't. Cena has that.

Re: Have you "Forgiven" Cena

Maybe if he wasn't such a damn cornball for so many years. Maybe if he had the balls to push for a change of gimmick to freshen his character. Maybe if his entire run as the top guy hadn't fostered this new culture in WWE of a roster full of corporate stooges.

Never questioned John Cena the man. But John Cena the WWE Superstar can.............:punkout

I don't see how I couldn't "forgive" him, he's not around and I'm not holding a petty grudge about a fake entertainment business.
