Why are we supposed to dislike a guy like Jinder besides the fact hes Indian? WWE just teaching fans to be racist and hate foreigners.

Man if you really beleive Jinder is the first anti america heel of all time. You gotta go watch some archive footage on the network! From what I have observed I don't think the Anti Jinder side of the audience. IS due to him being indian. More a rejection to another forced, manufactured push.

well that and it's been done to death.

I was hoping this with Jinder. At first it was good as it was just that he would have the argument of just being better than everyone else, hating him because he is smarter or richer than us. Now he has brought in the race card again and I am like *urgh*.

Can we have one foreign gimmick that doesn't bring in their race.

Yeah I totally agree, Jinders stereotypical gimmick is totally racist.

For me living in Sweden, other foreign stereotypes like that beer drinking ******* Steve Austin are also racist and stereotypical as hell. Not every Texan drinks beer, are bald, white and is a *******.
Same reason can be applied to Lord Steven (William) Regal being a snobby tea-drinking Brit. Not all British people are fond of tea or are snobby jackasses

And again. None of those are races. Saying that all Americans are fat, British people bathe in tea or Indians make love to cows is not racist.

Heck, by the arguments OP did, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan must be the worst stereotypical racist gimmick of all time.

A half-mentally challenged, cross-eyed, big belly, hairy guy who is running around with a Wooden Plank and a flag shouting USA, proclaiming USA to be teh best country in the world, and by that implying that all other races and countries are inferior to them.

Yeah, if that is not racist I don't know what is racist ;)

Unpopular opinion: i believe that stereotyping in wrestling is a good thing, for the kind of program they produce.

You have 20 to 40 athlethe, and with 5 hours a week you don't have time to give each and every one of them a proper character development like a tv series.
So? Stereotyping!

Stereotype are the "easiest way out", I know, but they allows to have a complete character and motivation ready from the start (avoiding starting with a "blank" wrestler), while still allowing some work on the character over time.

I'm italian and i still love the FBI.
they're italian
they're "mafiosi", criminals and bad guys
they cheat and are weak

You already have "full" characters without writing a single line of promos, and that's perfect since they had like 10 minutes every week AT BEST.

Otherwise, you end up with guys dressing in different colors saying just "i'm better than you" or "i'm happy to be here and fight for you people"

Considering the excruciating effort certain sectors of the news, and social media are putting into trying to turn all Americans against each other and the place they reside I'm honestly blown away Jinder hasn't been getting a lot more cheered than any boos. I was wondering about that the other night, if he didn't get that rocket strapped to his ass so fast and wasn't widely considered to be "unworthy" of the title would he be getting more cheers than boos in arenas.. But yeah, I guess that "set" doesn't hit up Raw on the average Monday.

Foreigner speaking here , most heels who are foreigners typically talk crap about America and hate America. One of WWE's biggest angles was Bret Hart who was a white guy from Canada who would talk crap about America and Americans. Most fans at WWE events throughout the year are going to be American and an easy way to generate heat would be to insult the fans and their country. Jinder's done just that and accused Americans of being racist(even though he came out to crickets most of the time) so fans are against him because he's meant to be a heel

Does that mean I think foreigners should be heels? Not necessarily, it is an easy go to make a heel and sometimes they can be done well but other times not so much. There have been plenty of foreigners who have been babyfaces though like Bret Hart before he turned , Andre the Giant before he turned , Jimmy Snuka , Bruno Sammartino etc. Hell, even the great All american hero Kurt Angle was a heel but when you look at the grand scheme of things, wrestlers turn heel and babyface all the time and Jinder at one point was a babyface while in the 3 Man Band

Why are you pulling racism into this? Hating foreigners is not racism. Hating russians, polaks, muslims, south africans, jews etc. is not racism.
Hating someone due the their nationality is bigoted for sure.

These anti-america gimmicks are always lame

Stop with that racism crap. Why is it racist to say humans from other countries are different? It is a fact and the truth is that not all men are created equal. This campaign has been created in our society by very clever men with low and evil intentions.

Is this black man a racist or is he just correct? Seriously fuck all these social justice warriors with their anti racism bullshit that they have been brainwashed with.

Yeah, it's weird.

My father was in the military and I have grown up living all over the world and in most countries, racism and whats known as "xenophobia" s a very common thing and not really frowned upon.....groups of people are usually very naturally tribalistic and, like any healthy organism, would watch out for it's own over other groups.

Only in the US, Canada, Western Europe and maybe Australia do you get all these limp wristed, usually white, virtue signaling morons who act like racism is a worse crime than something like pedophilia.

Maybe it's a good thing if the West dies.

The evil foreigner gimmick has been a staple in wrestling you decades now. There's a reason for that.

There is a more intelligent way to look at his character. He's not hated for his race. He's hated because he doesn't deserve to be champion and needs.a ton of help to win every match. He's a chicken shit heel. But he spouts bullshit to the gas about how they hate him because he's Indian when it isn't true.

Unfortunately I think that idea isn't being picked up on. A face challenger or even a commentator should really make that point.

Orton has touched upon that weeks ago in a backstage interview. He said "people don't boo Jinder because of his look, people boo Jinder because he's an ass". Nothing has followed since though.

I know what you are saying but this is a what came first the chicken or the egg question. I mean is WWE teaching that or just taping into what is already there. :draper2

If you're looking at it from an intellectual standpoint then yes, the "foreign heel" is a sub-branch of racism. However if you break it down, it's used in pro-wrestling as a form of tribalism (which yes, does have it's own link to racism) but the main aim is to get the crowd all on the same side/in the same tribe with the good guy, so they have a common enemy to go against.

Just like when the heel disses the local sports team or the face panders to the local sports team, it's to create this tribalism and used as a fast-track way to get the fans on to cheer/boo the way the company wants.
