From a recent interview with the new champion.

“The backstage reaction has been very good. Vince was very happy. He was really proud of me because Vince knows how much work I’ve put in. And, I told Vince, ‘Hey Vince, my goal is to come back every week and improve. Every time you see me perform I’m going to get better on the mic, going to get better in the ring and I’ll be in better shape every week.’ I think Vince really appreciates that and WWE is a place where they reward hard work and I’m an example of that.”
Jinder also said that he only found out he would be winning the title on the day of the match, and that it was the best day of his life.

Glad Jinder has that mindset of wanting to improve on the mic and in the ring. It shows a bit of awareness on his part that he's got a lot of work to do.

I always like hearing the little tidbit of when the wrestlers find out they're winning the belt. Kurt Angle talks about his first time in his book and how he was shocked because he was still a rookie and set to go over The Rock. Jinder finding out the day of makes sense, because he seems totally elated during his pre-match promo, and it lead to the most confident, comfortable promo I've heard him do yet. Big contrast to the last few weeks on SD where he's been too shouty or sounded like he had a bad cold or something.

Jury's still out on whether Jinder can wrestle a good match. But Backlash was fun with Orton taking the lead and the Singhs running interference. Putting aside my hate now and going in with an open mind- Mahal got his character and promo together a bit, if he can bring the matches to a decent level it might be tolerable.

I'm sure Jinder is probably a nice guy backstage and he works hard, but you can honestly say the same thing about most of the guys on the roster, that doesn't mean that all should get the WWE title. He got a lucky break with the India thing, let's see if he can make the most of it, but so far I'm not impressed

He should have improved in the ring and in the mic every week for about a year before going anywhere near the WWE Title. But apparently, WWE is really really desperate for that Indian cash.

I cannot fucking believe that these assholes repeat with aggravating continuity that they listen to the fans, and that if "you get over with THEM, you get your reward", and then Vince McMahon just sits down, plays a round of Wheel-o-Jobber, and goes "well, goddammit, I guess it's Mahal then".

I think it's a little unfair to say that Mahal is a bad worker. His push is definitely because of the India thing, and I'm not saying I agree with pushing him out of nowhere.

But for those saying his work is the shits, he can't talk, etc? I don't agree with that sentiment. First off, how many times has he been put in a situation where he has actually worked a real match and not a squash? We are pretty much judging this guy off of a month or so body of work.

And from what I have seen from him- yeah he has a good deal of improving to do in all areas. But for me, he's not bad in any area.

There are worse wrestlers and definitely worse talkers in the WWE right now. Some of them are IWC darlings that a lot of you like so much. There is a certain charisma about Jinder in my opinion that most people in the WWE lack.

I actually do think the guy could be a star. He very well could flop. But I think it's too early to tell. I hope the best for the guy personally.

Jinder is lucky son of a bitch.

He came back at a time when WWE really wanted to capture the huge audience in India, he came back looking absolutely jacked, he showed Vince that he was willing to do whatever it took to improve himself and Vince respects that a lot. He's absolutely huge now, that's a right in your face indicator of hard work (say he's on roids if you want to, but there's no solid proof).

All in all, everything was just right for him to succeed. Conversely, Dean Ambrose is viewed by MANAGEMENT as being a lazy bastard. And now we see how they are treating him.

This is honestly all it is, it was just a perfect storm for Jinder. They are desperately trying to expand more and more into India. He just happens to to fit the bill and is jacked. He was getting jobbed out left and right upon his return, if it weren't for him being able to be marketed as from India, he would still likely be a jobber.

This doesn't mean just any loser is going to be pushed to the top. The next Chinese guy to come to the main roster, though, you can bet they'll want to push him, too.

The thing I don't get is, if WWE are trying to tap the India market, then why is Jinder Mahal playing a heel? I mean last I checked India take wrestling really seriously so a guy like Jinder is going to be really hated in India. It would have made more sense if he was a face to draw the fans in. But it's not like he a hometown hero over there or anything.

Read or watch Reluctant Fundamentalist man. This is for anyone who questions this motive. Do you think 'USA mode babyfaces' are 'faces' for the rest of the world? Jinder character is good for what it is. There is still enough heelish tactics like Bollywood Boiz but thats for the western part. Anyone who ever experienced prejudice because of their ethnic background will they you that Jinder is not heel and for some from that portion he is a hero. Reluctant hero.

World > USA.

Um Its not just that. IIRC Chris Masters did exactly that in 2011. He was in good shape, he worked hard and he got better in the ring and started putting on great matches. He was rewarded with a phone call from WWE telling him he was fired.

The only reason Jinder is getting this kind of a push is because Vince/WWE think Indian market can be profitable for them. It has nothing to do with hardwork and other bs.

Let's not forget that many of the business' top starts were considered jobbers in the WWE at one time. It's good to see one that WWE actually didn't waste. If they had, it wouldn't have been long til you saw him in TNA winning titles.

Maybe if Bray Wyatt wasn't such a fat pig who loves to stuff his face more than he loves to work out, he would make a better career for himself.

All I can hope is that those of you pissed at this decision, decide to do something about it and stop paying WWE for the network and contributing to their ratings. As long as they continue making a profit they have no reason to listen to the fans.

There is plenty of good wrestling out there to enjoy and you can catch up on WWE via highlights.

Alright look, i'm not the biggest fan of Jinder, but hey, he's still a human being and i just like to see their spirits lifted and see them so happy when they put in all that work (granted it was out of the blue with his push) but maybe that will freshen up the main event scent honestly, don't wanna keep seeing Orton fight only for titles in the main event, but like i said, i may not be a huuggee fan of him, i still gotta respect him for keeping his head up and trying to get noticed and seeing it get rewarded, i mean hey, if it works, it works, good for him, happy for the man...just not happy for his character, but for the human being, extremely happy for him.

Bullshit. Jericho tries harder than anyone to get booed. He went an entire month just standing in the ring for 10 minutes without saying a word and then leaving because he was desperate for heat, but he's too respected. Same with Owens. Owens insults fans on Twitter constantly, he ripped up a kids sign, etc. There's a difference between doing your job and people having no respect for you. It's not their fault that they can't be a heel because the people cheer everything they do, that's such a ridiculous assertion. I'm tired of hearing this stupid argument that heat is such an easy thing and that any heel isn't doing their job right if they don't get it. CM Punk poured Paul Bearers ashes on Taker and they still fucking cheered him. People who get heat in 2017 suck ass. Period, end of.

I love how the Jinder trolls are so desperate to annoy other people that they're actually going as far as to justify his steroid abuse by trying to paint him in some sort of noble light. "Who cares if he's getting a disgusting body thanks to drugs because he isn't good enough to get it himself? HE WORKS HARD!"

#120 ·
What evidence do you have to say Jinder is abusing steroids?

Its possible he may be on them, like 70% of the roster, but ABUSING them is something entirely different. Its actually fucked up for you to make those kinds of assertions with no evidence.
