Are we the worst fans this industry has known?

I know that probably WWE is past its glorious and exciting days, the PG era killed a lot of what people like my used to get from wrestling (wrestling fan since 1985), but when I read thread after thread, man there's is just too much hate.

Wrestling Fans in a nutshell:

- Push this mid card !!! (Mid card wins a title people grow tired of him in 3 weeks)

- Push this jobber !!! (Jobber win title people complain that a jobber doesn't deserve to win a title)

- Bring this legend back !!! (Legend is brought back, people boo him)

- Woman wrestlers: (Charlotte is a good wrestler but has a flat ass and has average face, Sasha is hot but is a botching machine, Alexa is hot but can't wrestle, Bayley is likable but boring and ugly)

Are we the worst fans this industry has known? :hmmm

Yes and today's fan is remarkably lacking in self awareness. There's far too much complaining and tantrums if someone other than their guy receives a push. Not surprised as this is merely an extension of the entitlement generation.
:woah

I would say yes the fans today do complain a bit TOO much about some stuff, i've said it before but WWE fans can be the ultimate hipster when they want. They want the #2 guy to be the #1 guy until the WWE makes that happen, Once they make it happen they just move onto the new #2 guy and repeat the process.

A lot of fans also need to snap out of the idea that everyone should be at the top of the card. There is nothing wrong with having a Big Show or Kane style career. Not everyone can be an Austin, Rock, HHH, Cena, Hogan etc...

At the same time though if you're someone like me whose been watching wrestling for the last 15-20 years its easy to get into a routine of just wanting to see improvement. Its hard to see the WWE go further and further into the shit year on year when you know they can actually do some good stuff when they want to (i.e. Bryan WM30, Shield & NXT 2013-15). For me thats where a lot of the complaining is hinged at. The fact that they CAN do better and every once in a while they prove they can but the fact that they just can't be fucked this kinda hurts.

there ARE no fans of WWE any more, it draws a quarter of the viewers it did twenty years ago.

if you mean the indy smarks who will watch anything with .....diving in it, then yes, those guys are ruining wrestling.

Fans are NOT ruining wrestling.

People on the internet posting about wrestling bitching about smarks is fucking ironic.

If anyone is ruining Wrestling it is Vince and is senile mind. Think about it the Cena push was something many were against and received backlash only one year into his run (WM 22 Let's Go Cena, Fuck You Cena). I didn't mind Cena certainly not his biggest fan but it wasn't until probably 2008 that I was burnt out with him and disliked the never ending Cena push. Now Reigns only he is 1/1000th the talent with 1/10000th the charisma and is forced 10 times worse than Cena.

People need to realize the difference between a few ppl on the internet bitching about Balor vs a majority of fans everywhere hating on Reigns. The IWC is everyone these days. Just about everyone gets on the CPU these days it's not 1996.

Well maybe some of YOU are...

You're also categorizing the IWC as some sort of hive mind where we all think the same. We don't. Most people loved Daniel Bryan, I didn't. I enjoyed Ryback, many didn't. Its impossible for everyone to be on board with the same thing.

As for the entitlement...I personally don't view it that way. I think that since the audience keeps WWE in business, they SHOULD have a say in what happens. Vince has apparently forgotten that and he's doing whatever he wants since some of you haven't figured out that by hating on the product, and yet watching every Monday, you enable him to ignore you.

As for the insane idea that smarks advocating for their favorite guys who typically don't fit the WWE mold is what's ruining the business...anyone who says this is apparently not intelligent enough to realize that they, too, are smarks on a wrestling forum shitting on guys who WWE pushes (although in that case, its wrestlers who came from the Indies like Balor or Zayn). You're just as guilty as anyone else, yet have the gall to try and pin it on one select part of the audience while ignoring your own blame. Kindly take your hypocrisy and piss off.

Smarks for wrestling are like Ultras for football(soccer) clubs; especially if the club isn't a big club and/or in a big league. They ruin a lot of shit, but without them, you'd be devoid of a big chunk of your revenue and would have a lot of empty seats. WWE kind of has to put up with them because they don't have a choice right now.

It's the same thing everywhere... I am on french forums and on here. It's the same.

People complains on 50/50 booking but also complains when a wrestler win or lose too much.

Superman booking is not accepted. Unless it's Brock Lesnar or Braun Strowman.

Goldberg comes back. Wins the belt. Lose it 1 months later. Gets booed for doing it.

Brock Lesnar takes the belt and disapear for 3 months. Will get cheered when he comes back.

There's no more Very Strong superstar accepted. If WWE would have listen to the smarks fans, Daniel Bryan would have been champion for 12 years straight.

I think if you pay to see it and pump cash into the business regularly, you are entitled to say anything, especially if they are being really dumb and it's the norm. I bought the Mania DVD and they have NO pre show matches!! WWE figures they would cut down more and more as they do every year, Nevilles match was one of the best on the card and they would rather have all 3 matches forgotten about basically. I buy all the Mania dvds so I am quite pissed that I got less for more money. Backlash was terrible, there is a TON of slacking going on. As someone who pays into it and has for decades, you got the right. Now that Takers done, they better release more Taker sets, or I am certainly done with buying them. Network is sucking and in Canada its a rip off cuz we don't even get access to the vault. btw, his site slow as fuuuuuck.

Hey I happen to think I'm an awesome fan thank you very much :p

Seriously though I think the internet and knowing all the insider gossip has made things worse and made everybody way more cynical. I sorta miss the times when I didn't know anything :lol

I don't think so. There's definitely way too much negativity if that's all you mean. But not all negativity is a bad thing.

Most of us that post on here have been watching for a lot of years. That means we've seen the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows when it comes to pro wrestling. Sometimes when there's criticism, it's because we know what this medium is capable of and want it to be at that level.

My biggest problem is the lack of effort from creative. We fans shouldn't shoulder all the blame for being negative when it's clear they're half-assing it because they're the only real game in town and they know we'll watch regardless.

Let me go to some movie analogies real quick. First of all, WWE might have the greatest roster of talent right now that they've ever had, in terms of pure wrestling skill. A lot of them, outside of WWE's rigid scripting style, show a lot of charisma and personality. But the way they're used... it's like taking Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep, and forcing them to only work in Adam Sandler movies.

On the complaints listed in the OP- push the midcarder/jobber... there's no well crafted story. When you suddenly put someone in that key position with zero build or story... it's like if some random extra that the Avengers saved for being murdered returned in the final scene and saved the day. Everyone would be like WTF?

On legends being brought back and people turning on them- they've gotta perform. Did anyone turn on HBK when he returned in 2002, or Ricky Steamboat in 2009? No, because they were awesome. They don't get a free pass because they used to be good. Movie analogy- you know who was great? Macauley Culkin in Home Alone. Let's bring him back at the height of his drug problems when he can barely put together a coherent conversation, let alone act out a script.

As for the women wrestlers thing? ...Yeah, I've got nothing. Sometimes it seems like some posters on here have a general resentment towards women. Maybe that's down to their personal lives, who knows. But I don't understand some of the hatred or bi-polar attitudes either.
