First of all, this WWE Wellness Policy is BS and a joke. ME guys are pretty much either exempt or are tipped off by the office a few months before the "random" test.
What I wondered was; why do they supposedly do a random test? Why not just test everybody on the active roster? They got the cash to do so and look better PR wise.
Reigns is a different story. Someone got some dirt on him, and pretty much threatened Vince/WWE; Vince realized that the dirt was damning, didnt want to pay whoever it was; and instead suspended Reigns. That's the story that I heard.
Something similar happened many years ago when pretty much 90% of the ME roster was using; Edge, Orton, Benoit, etc. Someone sold the dirt (Signature Pharmacy) to a local prosecutor, and Vince had to suspend all the ones that got caught. The Wellness Policy didnt catch them; it was the prosecutor and whoever it was that tipped/sold him the info.
Because different drugs stay in your system for different lengths of time. If they had specifically scheduled dates to test everyone, people would just cycle their drug use around those dates. It's also because they don't only test at the shows, the testing company will show up at people's houses on off days, etc.
While there are certainly a ton of criticisms of the wellness policy, it's definitely done some good.
Well I think its a joke that the part time guys dont have to be tested. Thinking they know Lesnar is on something so they dont dare test him. And safe to say HHH isnt tested either.

While they do random testing, there's no limit on how much testing that actually is. It's defined as a minimum of four times a year, although it's also based on suspicion, which could significantly increase how often you're tested. Plus, if you've just tested positive for something, you're facing mandatory unannounced testing for the next 12 months. Also, if you've ever been to rehab as a result of the policy, you face mandatory unannounced testing for the remainder of your contract. With the mandatory unannounced testing for recent & past violators, no suspicion is needed.
So, I don't really think there's a reason to do more regular testing than what they do because...we have no idea how much testing they actually do, other than at least four times per year.
It's all about WWE maintaining the facade that they actually care about the health of the wrestlers, and not just their ability to generate ticket and merch sales. The tests may be random, and yes, they don't apply to anyone that isn't on a full time wrestling contract, but it should be pointed out that they're carried out by a 3rd party.
Neither Vince nor any other "high ups" in the company have access to the details of who is going to be tested and when.
It's a pain in the ass for the entire company to have to put up with, and then deal with when people are caught ... but it's 100% necessary if WWE want to keep everyone believing that they don't want their talent roided up and high on pot.
Personally, I don't care about the roids, or the marijuana. Yeah, it's not good for them in the long term, but none of them is worse than alcohol abuse, and no one is getting busted for smoking regular cigarettes, or being drunk. IMO, the Wellness Policy should be focusing on the heavy hitters. Heroin, cocaine, addictive pain killers ...
The rest are not as damaging and have no real impact on their success in pro wrestling.
It's probably how they catch the majority of the people that they catch.
