So, about a month ago, I thought I'd stay away from here and see if I could enjoy the mania build up without all the nagativity...and boy have I been enjoying it. Raw isn't great but its fun, especially when talking about it with rela life friends and not just internet junkies who have to complain about everything. Heck, I've even enjoyed SD.
And surprise surprise, I've bought into a lot of the feuds....having Taker around is still horrible iwth his pot belly and stiff knees but whatever, I hope we wont see him after Mania. And the build up for Shane/AJ and Rollins/HHH is just spot on...old fashioned even. Brawls, table spots...the whole damn thing.
This is just a thread to recommend that to anyone on here. Put the negativity to one side and enjoy the show!

There's the difference between you and others, including myself. If my family and friends knew I was still watching wrestling, they would ostracize me because, unlike 1998, wrestling is not considered cool.
Wrestling is a guilty pleasure for me, and this forum is my only means of discussing it with impunity.
>Oh, I'm so cool, my opinions and dispositions are not even SLIGHTLY; not even SUBCONSCIOUSLY affected by interactions with other people! I just don't care!
Okay, that makes you a sociopath, but whatever.
The better question in that case, Mr. Sociopath, is what benefit do you gain from interacting with people at all, since you're proclaiming yourself to be an emotionless shell of a human being.
(unless, of course, this entire "above the influence" concept is crap) <Rhetorical Question
The negativity is generated from the shitty product itself! It's not our fault if we see such gaping flaws in their booking, lack of stars, constraints etc.
Lol at the "WWE apologist" comment above. God forbid someone genuinely enjoy what is going on with the product rather than being spoonfed what is defined by said person what is hip and what is cool. I know it's cool to bash WWE at every turn but they deserve praise just as well as criticism when it is necessary. I don't understand. If people here hate WWE so much, why the fuck they commenting in the "General WWE" section? :aries2
I have to agree with you, OP. It could be the rebirth of the Attitude Era with the next Steve Austin or Dwayne Johnson type of breakout star and someone would still nitpick something to whine about. Could you imagine if this place existed in 1999? "I'M SO TIRED OF STONE COLD HOLDING THE BELT! IT'S TIME THEY GIVE ROAD DOGG THE BELT! NO ONE CARES ABOUT THIS STALE BEER DRINKING *******!!!"
But hell, you know what, I like what I like, and even if 99% of WF bashes the shit out of said thing, I have no fucks and will still feel how I feel. But it is refreshing to take a break. I don't come on here every day like I used to and I enjoy the program a bit better just because you don't have all this generated negativity.
I stopped visiting this board for a few months last year, it genuinely was nice to get away from the constant whining and crying about the smallest things. I still don't use this board often or any, I just like to check back after RAW to see if there are any interesting posts outside of the usual "he lost 1 match in 3 months, he's being BURIED" bs
No disrespect intended, but...Surely if anything this just makes you easily influenced? A show doesn't become magically worse (or better for that matter) because of the fact that people are talking about it in one way or another.
Fair play to you if you're enjoying it more while staying away from here, but really, nothing that other people say should influence what you feel is good or bad.
I was all set to come on and tell you to fuck off and stop being an attention seeker, but your post does ring a bit of truth to me, so I won't. :lol
I remember watching Wrestling before being exposed to online fan forums. I remember Raw 2003 and how I obsessively loved it and how I loved HHH's so called 'Reign of Terror' but then I found out years later that it was universally hated? Kind of glad I didn't have that around me to sour the pleasure I got from those days. It appears that admitting being a massive HHH fan during that era is almost like admitting you are attracted to children to the IWC. Best just keep it a secret.
Do whatever you need to keep the enjoyment going. I've been watching Raw in 2000 and the vast majority of the fans in the audiences didn't have access to all the forums and dirtsheets and seemed to massively enjoy what they were seeing. Babyfaces were being cheered and heels being booed. Crowd playing ball made it more fun rather than the know-it-all culture we have today.

a lot of the times i found a lot of people just sit on the fence and only make a decision if something is good or bad depending on some random on the internets response, therefore good for you for taking a step back. That now allows you to think for yourself and not have someone elses opinion as your own
The biggest thing I found when not reading up wrestling news on the internet is I actually got interested in feuds, these days they are leaked weeks or months in advance, so when they actually come to light we're like "meh".
WWE apologists? or not bitching for the sake of it. SD and Raw were decent shows. I wonder if ppl just love to bitch about WWE for the sake of it. Back in the AE late nineties, werent amazing all the time, although 90% of time it was. Back then you diddn't have the internet to filter all of this. Internet has ruined pro wrestling tbh.
On one hand, I understand where you're coming from. A lot of people on here, all they do is complain about the product and will rarely ever give credit. But on the other hand, that's their opinion. We all have difference preferences in wrestling. We all don't share the same mind. My advice is just to keep scrolling and not let it get to you.

Some people may not have friends who are into wrestling so this is a good way for people to escape and discuss with others about the product.
From my list of friends i only really have one who is into wrestling, so i need to get my fix (you get it, because i'm an internet junkie) on here on the most part.
I find that I'll enjoy a show much more if I don't see any spoilers and other people's opinions about the show beforehand. Watch the show, live or not, THEN come to the forum. If you thought the show was good, instead of thinking that it's crap becuase lots of people are whining, you will probably more likely feel that those people will never be satisfied within their online persona.
It's interesting to read other people's opinions and occassionally participate in the debate, but don't let people influence your own opinion before you've even seen something (and that includes things like movies and music too).
Watching WWE without the IWC is like going to a comedy show without hecklers.
