On whether he prefers to be a face or heel:
“Well, it’s a lot easier to be a heel. In this day and age, a babyface gets in there and…well, a lot of people don’t like John Cena. I gotta tell you, I usually say to kids if they’re John Cena fans, they’re probably good kids. If they’re AJ Styles fans, oooh. But I gotta tell you man, I love being a heel but there’s parts of me that miss that opportunity to that I get to spend with kids, and go to the hospitals and just making a kid’s day. Making someone smile. I do love that. So it’s only a matter of time before I go back…It’s just part of the industry we’re in and it changes every so often, depending on how your merch sells, really.”

On how his wrestling style has changed and evolved over time:
“Well, it’s definitely developed. When you get started on the independents, it’s all about showcasing what you can do. And then once you do that, you gotta show that you’re smart in the ring, that you can work with anybody. And then psychology plays a huge part. Not many people know how important it is. And just to give you an idea of what psychology is, it’s when you go, ‘Wow! What an amazing match!,’ and someone goes, ‘Well what did they do?’ ‘I don’t know, you just have to watch it.’ That’s how you know you’ve put on a great match is when it’s — it’s not about flips and stuff. It’s where you put everything and the story that you’re telling within the match and all along, making it very exciting. And one thing I learned from John Cena is ‘Let’s make them care about the match before we even step foot in the ring.’ And that is the psychology…it’s what wrestling’s about.”

On his match with Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels at TNA Unbreakable 2005:

“All I can think about is how great it would have been if Joe and I hadn’t went home early. Because we had so much planned, so much great stuff planned that it could have been the most amazing match we’d have ever put on. But me and Joe screwed that up.”

On which female star from NXT or WWE he would induct into The Club:

“Probably, just because…it’s a toss-up between Becky [Lynch] and Charlotte. I think they’d fit in pretty well with BC. I wonder how they’d feel about that? Every now and then I catch Becky throwing up a ‘Too Sweet.'”

On who he wants to face at WrestleMania (this or a future one):

“Well I wanted Shawn Michaels. And let me just say, I respect that guy so much that he retired and stayed retired. Not many people could do that, because money talks. And trust me, it was speaking loud and clear. But it’s hard to say. I would love to go ahead and give the people what they want and wrestle Randy Orton. I think that would be a quality match.”

On the pic he put on social media teasing a match at the Royal Rumble:
“I put it out there to see if I could get Shawn to buy it. That’s what I did, just to see if I could get people talking. Some fan made that up and I thought, ‘That’s a cool picture, let’s just see what happens. And yeah, it got a lot of press to the point that WWE was like, ‘Don’t post anything else on it.'”

On Kenny Omega coming to WWE down the line:
“Well I can tell you, time will tell…I don’t know if you knew this, but he was signed to WWE way back in the day, and just had a hard time. You know, young kid, not knowing exactly what’s happening or what the next step is, your mind starts playing tricks on you and he ended up leaving. And he was ready to quit. Him and I had a match and we tore the house down. This was probably fifteen years ago. That’s when he decided to get back into wrestling pretty hard. So if we could have a good match way back then…I can only imagine what will happen when he comes to WWE. I think Kenny is tailor-made for New Japan Pro Wrestling. He is exactly where he should be right now. And hopefully in a year he’ll be exactly where I want him to be in the WWE.”

^This was apparently supposed to be Kenny's last wrestling match.

He talks about going into MMA for a bit and did some training then he got a full-time job at an airport once leaving Deep South. The local promoter (Premiere Wrestling) got AJ Styles to come in and Kenny was going to wrestle him and retire afterwards. After the match, Kenny said he was blown away by AJ’s athleticism and it reignited his love of wrestling to the point he sought up the top talents across the Independent scene.

On who he wants to face from NXT:
“Oh man. I mean, can I say what everybody wants me to say? Nakamura. Yeah, I think that’s definitely going to happen in the near future and it’s only a matter of time until he makes it to WWE.”

I don't care what anyone says... Styles v. Omega or Nakamura in a WWE ring will be worth the wait (for any NJPW fans). :) And, Omega in 2018 confirmed? I think so!

And, Charlotte with a BC shirt on as part of The Bullet Club? I could see that. :confused

What an awesome, humble guy that AJ is! Truly one of the best in the world.

Yay, Kenny in WWE, that's gonna be great. It's not like we have tons of evidence that it's gonna be shit aka pretty much every wrestler WWE has signed from New Japan not named AJ Styles. Can we all get off this fucking obsession with Kenny working for WWE. He's tearing it up in New Japan, should soon be IWGP Heavyweight Champ yet you all seem fixated on seeing him at Wrestlemania. The same event most of you are condemning as shit before it even happens this year, why would you want to see Omega on it? So you can complain about how he's being misused like you all do with everything else.

WWE fans sicken me, I swear to God.

NJPW is better than WWE these days in terms of show quality, but WWE is still bigger and if you want your favourite wrestlers to get maximum exposure, make the biggest name for themselves as possible and make the most money, it looks like they have to go to the WWE.

Im a Kenny Omega fan before being a NJPW fan. And although him going to WWE is a risk as they could easily just ruin him, the possibilities of the positives outweigh negatives. So I would like to see him go there and try to become a top star in the WWE.

Jim Cornette booked a mummy to fight a teenage mutant ninja turtle. That shit right there is more egregious and exposed the business much more than anything Omega has ever done.

Cornette is just washed up and trying to retain relevance with the smarks by hating on every top star not in WWE. Omega is that guy right now so Cornette is gonna try and leech as much relevance he can off him until he goes to WWE and becomes off limits, then Cornette will go after his next target.

Styles vs Orton, Styles vs Nakamura and Styles vs Omega :harper

Jim Cornette is right about Kenny Omega. Fuck that eyewash loser. He shamed the business with some of his gimmick matches. The guy is a midget with a perm.
I'd say fuck Jim Cornette.

Kenny Omega indeed faced AJ Styles not 15 years ago but in September 21st of 2006 at PCW Back To School V.
It was Kenny 2nd match on the indies after requesting his contractual release from WWE/DSW.

Kenny actually beat AJ Styles on that show.
It's a wrestling promotion in winnipeg that Kenny still to this day wrestle for every now and then.

Pepole paid $15 to see AJ Styles vs Kenny Omega 10 years ago LOL.

PCW's Back to School Bash featuring AJ Styles vs Kenny Omega and Samoa
Joe vs Antonio Scorpio Jr & Mike Angels in a three way dance takes
place this Thursday, September 21st at the LID Nightclub in Winnipeg.
Tickets are only $15 with a limited number available at the door at
8:00PM. Bell time is 9:00PM.

PCW must have that tape, it was their main event in one of their biggest shows.
I believe it will happen someday on a big stage at WWE.

I would faint from excitement if AJ ever faced Kenny Omega. 7 star match right there.

Also, with this part it seems clear that as long as his merch keeps selling, he wont turn back face.

It is more like if his sales slip they might think of turning him face. Or if they turn him face and they slip he will go back to being a heel pretty quick. If creative sees him going face as a good thing and they feel safe his merch will still sell good, which let's face it that should be the case, then it will happen.

It's a little bit different for the CEO of a large corporation to protect himself from lawsuits and gambling issues. Omega made the entire industry a joke by doing what he did. Knowing it's "fake" isn't breaking news. It's the dignity of the business that was compromised by a stunt like that.

And as we know, Vince McMahon and WWE would NEVER jeopardize the dignity of the business and make it into a joke.

No sir, not at all.

Good points, but I have only been referring to Omega here. Vince's creative phase during the early-to-mid 2000s was pathetic, and the company is just now recovering from a credibility standpoint. I don't like that shit happening under any circumstance.

Becky Lynch in the BC. Where do I sign up? I still think WWE should have a "TNA" takeover angle at Mania in Orlando. Don´t need to say it, but everybody will know. Kurt Angle teasing at the HOF induction speech. Joe killing HHH, Styles killing Shane, Aries beating Neville. Roode debut. Angle as the manager.

Yes, please. Didn't Finn help train her? It would make sense for those to be in the group together.

#22 ·
Yes! Back in Ireland actually. :) She credits Finn for her success as a professional wrestler.

If Omega truly does come into the WWE in the future, you best believe that The Young Bucks are coming with him! Styles and the Bucks always had such good chemistry together. I can't wait!

When balor reforms the bullet club in WWE they should tease Becky being with them ala AJ during his feud with Roman. Then bullet club finally oficially reveal their female member and its......... bayley.

Just imagine the crowd reactions and to cement her heel turn have her along with the male members beat down Becky right after.

Because theres a certain elation in seeing your indy favourite get exposed to a wider audience and have everyone else enjoy him just as you have. It also serves as a validation of your opinion.

props to Styles but he needed to stop there. Kenny Omega is fine in Japan and NEVER step a foot in WWE imo

he'll get the " WCW player traitement" and will probably paid for turning them like 5 times too and shit on going in NXT. @Sweggeh if you really think that Omega will be a top guy in WWE and will have crazy match in WWE like in Japan you're probably on serious drugs man.

All i see in WWE Omega is another Sami Zayn or a irrelevant heel
