So the latest podcast on WOL on 1/31 Dave mentions Cenas WM opponent
"His opponent is pretty much finalized and it's nothing I'd celebrate"
Alverez went on to ask if they are doing Cena/Orton? And Dave replied no.
Who could it be?

We noted earlier in the week via Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio that plans for current WWE Champion John Cena at WrestleMania 33 were said to be "not necessarily good news" and probably "wouldn't be celebrated" by fans.
There have been rumors of WWE doing Cena and Nikki Bella vs. The Miz and Maryse at WrestleMania in Orlando. That rumor was acknowledged by Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live today, noting that the rumor mill has cranked up in the last 48 hours.
Regarding Samoa Joe's match for WrestleMania 33, Joe vs. Cena was considered at one point but then taken off the table. Alvarez noted that one idea discussed at today's WWE creative meeting following the Seth Rollins injury announcement was putting Joe on SmackDown to have him wrestle Cena. Triple H vs. Seth Rollins at WrestleMania is now up in the air but we haven't heard what they had planned for Joe. Joe would've likely feuded with Rollins in the lead-up to Rollins vs. Triple H, with a potential match at Fastlane later this month.
If Cena and Nikki vs. Miz and Maryse does happen, the build could begin in the lead-up to the February 12th WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. That show will see Cena defend inside the Chamber against Miz, AJ Styles, Baron Corbin, Bray Wyatt and WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose. Nikki is currently feuding with Natalya but they will face each other at Elimination Chamber.
Re: Dave Meltzer on Cena's WM opponent "It's nothing I'd celebrate"
What could have been an amazing WM is now looking potentially bad due to injury/poor booking decisions/poor match making. Very unfortunate. Hopefully WWE gets it together quickly and gives us some good matchups for WM
re: Dave Meltzer on Cena's WM opponent "It's nothing I'd celebrate"
IF they really going to have Cena in a tag match might as well bring back Hogan and have them tag against two loser geeks. He doesn't need to do the leg drop just the punches and Cena does 95% of the match.
But knowing them its probably John & Nikki vs Miz & Maryse or Ellsworth & Carmella.
re: Dave Meltzer on Cena's WM opponent "It's nothing I'd celebrate"
It's most likely Corbin smh.
I'm still have just a little bit of hope that Vince calls an audible and does Taker vs Cena.
Fans are completely shitting on the idea of Taker vs Reigns on twitter. Taker was apparently in a lot of pain on Sunday I just feel Taker would want to work with a vet like Cena to be safe. That's not to say Reigns isn't safe I'm just saying I feel Taker would rather have Cena.

only a frction of the ppl that watch raw, tag along on twitter, with twitter impressions being in the tens of thousands while based on ratings 2 to 3 million ppl watch, not to mention twitter mention dnt seem to differentiate from one user tweeting multiple times, so I wouldn't really take stock on what wrestling twitter think about an angle, vince should do what he wants
re: Dave Meltzer on Cena's WM opponent "It's nothing I'd celebrate"
It has to be Baron Corbin.
Cena's past 2 WM opponents have been up and coming guys who have been pretty hot going into the feud. Must be the new Cena policy of taking on the upstarts at WM's to give them a big match.

And for what it's worth, I saw Meltzer say on twitter that a source told him Cena's mania plans "off the record", which is why he isn't saying what it is publicly yet.
Dave Metlzer on Cenas WM opponent "Its nothing I'd celebrate"
Yeah right, like he knows anything. I'd put money on everything he reports his him guessing. When he's right it's often about the most obvious shit that we can all see coming a mile off. When he's wrong it's that old chestnut "Vince changed his mind last minute".

As far as Meltzer's credibility goes, no dirtsheet is ALWAYS right. But, Meltzer has been right many times to the point where he talks, we at least listen. Doesn't men it's automatically true. Doesn't mean plans won't change. But usually, unless he's just blindly speculating, there is merit to what he has to say.

Meltzer wound up being right when he did the math for the Rumble/WrestleMania in the last issue, so I'm guessing whoever his source is must have some really disappointing news.
