WON: Current Mania lineup

From the recent WON...

"The Mania lineup at this point is looking like:

- Goldberg vs. Lesnar
- Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns
- HHH vs. Seth Rollins
- Jericho vs. Owens
- Wyatt vs. Orton
- Show vs. Shaquille O’Neal
- Charlotte vs. Bayley vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax as the Raw women’s title match.

The key is the Rumble winner is likely, although they could swerve, to be the person who will challenge for either the Universal title or WWE title. The only Smackdown match on that list is Orton vs. Wyatt, and it’s not a secret that Wyatt was scheduled for a title run in 2017. That immediately puts both of them in contention, and if one wins, the other would be favored to win the Chamber match. There’s a story that just started going around about Orton winning the Rumble and Wyatt winning the Chamber match. If that doesn’t happen, it would be because plans changed. Even though historically the booking before Mania always gets out and it almost never changed (it changes for other reasons, such as injuries or guys quitting, but that’s usually known as well), with the increase in social media, my feeling is nothing is a lock until it happens. I doubt we’ll see major destination changes, in the sense the top of the card will probably be pretty close to as is slated now, but how to get there could change."

If WWE did Shane/Taker last year and had Shane/Lesnar planned before Goldberg came back. People shouldn't be surprised they're doing Shane/AJ. Vince probably thinks its a big time match and feud for him lol. As for Samoa Joe, I think he should join Smackdown as a face and used in IC ladder match. With Ziggler turning heel Smackdown has too many heels. Plus Joe/Cena feud would feel too much like AJ/Owens. With long time indies guy trying to take down Cena in WWE. They should just have Cena cost Ambrose IC Title at some point. Then do Joe vs Miz vs Corbin vs Ziggler vs Crews vs Kalisto for IC title. Then do Cena/Ambrose one on one match. I hope thats the route they go.

Yes. If you just pay attention to Daves wording it sounds like its opinion. 2 weeks ago he said Undertaker will not be challenging for the title, but if he is facing Reigns how does that much get set up if its not for a title?

People keep parroting that this is an atrocious card but haven't said what's atrocious about it besides Reigns/Taker and Big Show/Shaq. Is that all it takes to ruin an entire WM card? Mostly it just seems to me that people are upset because the show they've been fantasy booking for the last 6 months won't be happening.

I don't know if people are complaining about match quality or the star power of the matches but what's been listen seems to have a good mix of both overall:

Goldberg/Lesnar- will be a shitshow as a match but will be a huge spectacle

Reigns/Taker- should be a good-great match with a big fight feel

HHH/Rollins- should be a good-great match with a big fight feel AND a lot of personal heat attached

KO/Jericho- should be a decent-good match possibly with a lot of personal heat

Shaq/Big Show- will be a shitshow but bring media coverage

Raw 4 way- could be good-great, could have big fight feel (last year's did), could also be brought down by Nia

Wyatt/Orton- should be decent-good, could be good-great, should have heat, could have big fight feel

To me that's nowhere near as bad as WM 32 let alone as dire as WF is making it out to be.

So is Roman not winning the title then? Cause Melzters report from 2 weeks ago says Undertaker wont be challenging for the title. So if he is facing Reigns then Reigns should be losing then.

Anyways it sounds like he is giving his opinion on what might happen. Ill see this card to believe it.

After reading what Meltzer said. If you pay attention to the wording it really just sounds like his opinion on what the card might be. Nothing set in stone IMO.

Will find out Sunday.

That one on NXT? Did we watch the same match? It was a snoozefest. As for why people would blame Nia? Well, she's just not good. She's green and not ready for a big match like this. Doesn't help that Nia is easily the least popular woman of the four, so very few people will be invested in her. Her mere presence in the match will be a big negative to some.

They sure as hell don't learn if they think that Taker putting Roman over will help him, he will be booed even more. Rock put him over, DB put him over, Heyman put him over, Vince put him over, HHH put him over, AJ put him over, nothing helped him and Vince really thinks that using Taker will help him? He really lost it if that is the case

AJ vs Shane fpalmfpalmfpalmfpalmfpalmfpalmfpalm wasting your best wrestler in a match with Shane when he could have dream matches with almost anyone.

The rest of the card doesn't sound really appealing as well, at this rate MOTN will be Rollins vs HHH

I feel the card (which is of course still subject to change) is coming along more or less as one would have expected if we go by the feuds currently going on the shows...

Goldberg vs. Lesnar
This is a match we all knew would take place. I personally don't care for it and it will be interesting how they work around Goldberg's shortcomings in the ring this time around and also how they work around the fact that even if Lesnar wins he would still be 1-2 against Goldberg. I think Lesnar goes over here but they will need to address the elephant in that room.

Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns
I actually prefer this match to Taker/Cena. What I'm not seeing yet is the angle if this match won't be for the Universal Title. What would be the reason for Reigns and Taker feuding with each other? They haven't teased this match in any way so far. Reigns goes over here as he is clearly the guy to them and who they want as top face of the company and a young talent they are investing in for the long term.

HHH vs. Seth Rollins
This is another match that has been a lock for some time now. They very much rebooted the angle this Monday and we should see more development for this feud at the Rumble. The match should be good with a lot of personal heat in it, here is hoping the way they handle the feud from now to Mania is good as well. Rollins goes over here and perhaps the match has a stipulation of ending the authority and maybe even Triple H's wrestling career.

Jericho vs. Owens
This match has been in the making for some time too and it has only been a question of wether it would be for a title or not. Seems like it could be for the US title and things will get started once Owens loses the Universal Title to Reigns. I expect Owens to go over and win the US title with Jericho leaving to work on his band.

Wyatt vs. Orton
I wasn't sure why Orton was such a heavy favorite to win the Rumble but seeing the rumored angle that Meltzer mentioned it does fit. It would be a interesting thing to get them to feud with each other that is different from what we all expected in having Orton turn on Wyatt.

Show vs. Shaquille O’Neal
This is just a fun meaningless match that will serve as a cool down between bigger matches. No problem with it and it is something that has been planned for a while.

Charlotte vs. Bayley vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax
I guess they probably go with this match in order to protect Charlotte's loss at a PPV. She isn't pinned or submitted and with Bayley winning the title they can start working on her rivalry with a potentially heel at the time Sasha. I really don't see why Nia is in it to be honest.

...

Outside of that I expect Cena to have a match with either Samoa Joe or Ambrose and they are already planting the seeds for Shane/Styles. Things will really begin to set in after this Sunday.

Exactly how does this match happen outside of Reigns winning the title and Taker winning the rumble and challenging him? Which is why I'm taking these reports with a huge grain of salt. Daves wording in this newsletter sounds like it's just him speculating. Even he said he doesn't know how the match will work if Reigns doesn't turn heel and it sounds like that is not happening.

I'm still in the camp that Cena vs Taker is still a possibility.
