How good of a star is Kenny Omega?

I've heard a lot about this guy and seen his matches. pretty good, maybe a bit overrated, but good nontheless.

How is he as an overall talent tho? I heard a lot about finn balor/prince devitt, but I was very very disapointed with him. He bores me on the mic and isnt that good in the ring, and he's short as hell. AJ styles amazes me in the ring, but isnt that good on the mic, and he looks too small.

Is Omega better overall talent then them? I hear all this hype, and I don't wanna be disappointed.

I don't get the hate, is it trendy for some of you guys to crap on wrestlers who have a buzz surrounding them? Or is it just "he's not better than insert the name of your guy here"?

The guy is good and has loads of charisma. It's totally okay to admit a guy is talented objectively, and still not like him as a competitor. But to say he's not a good star, well that makes no sense. I'm not even sure it's a matter of opinion? Maybe it is?

Whether you think he's the greatest since Thesz or just plain good, he's still talented enough to be something special.

His ring work paired with his charisma? He would be a star anywhere depending on how they write him.

It is trendy, plus some people have a weird relationship with WWE whereas it's 97 percent shitting on the product but when someone comes along that's outside the WWE box ;

All of a sudden they turn into weird drones defending the WWE hive to the point of just making ludicrous statements that are factually untrue.

He's about as close to the total package as you can get, at least he has been in Japan with his current character. He's not a world class mic worker but he's good at playing the over the top villain, yet can still cut a serious promo when he has to. He's also gold in those press conference environments where he's able to sell his matches as a legitimate competition.

My favorite part of Omega though is easily the "big match feel" that he brings. IMO that's kind of rare these days and very few guys can accomplish that. Like anything else though the WWE will have to book him like a top guy to really see Omega at his best, but if they do I have no doubt that he'll be a star.

Omega has been on a roll in 2016 and the Wrestlekingdom match was awesome but people who acting like he's bigger than Hogan needs to :woah cause he's getting very boring now. Royal Rumble day is going to be a fucking nightmare with all the speculations about him

Also he will never have the half of the creative freedom he get in NJPW and WWE is going to throw away a lot of his moveset and spots too so he will never beyond the huge hype he gets since he won the G1 imo

Back to promos he is nowhere close to The Rock but better than AJ and Balor imo

Omega is alright. Athletic, and good in the ring. I dont like his character too much however. His terminator entrance was weird. His mic work is okay as well. Not amazing but still good.

Also, AJ is not tremendous on the mic. Why is it that when a heel cuts a good promo,he is automatically a great talker. Styles heel promos are alright, but literally cutting a heel promo is easy as fuck. Its just ranting. If you could cut a good to great promo as a face, then I consider you good on the mic. Also Styles character and mic work content is literally the same as Heel Seth, or Heel KO. Rant about how much better they are.

He's better on the mic than AJ, likely by a landslide, if he adapts to the WWE scripts as easily as AJ did, and he's equal to current AJ in the ring, if not a nudge above as of late.

He's also got a better look than both Balor and AJ, and more size than both of them.

So many Kenny Omega threads, does my heart good.

As for the answer, he's been my favorite for awhile.

I just enjoy his style, his look, and the way he cuts promos like an anime villain.

I can't really answer the question, but I truly believe Kenny Omega is the best all-around wrestler not signed by WWE....Or hell in the world at the moment.

He is probably the best in ring performer of the last 12 months and his mic skills are good when he is not scripted, way better than Aj's or Balor's. Don't know how he would adapt to the WWE honestly because, at least for what he says, he is really creative and probably WWE will shut down most of his ideas, both inside the ring and in promos

He is very good but I don't see him suiting the weekly soap opera world of WWE quite honestly, then again neither would Mayweather or Rousey or Dwayne Johnson version 2017 or Conor McGregor.

If they signed him to a short deal where he debuted in Rumble, won it, mainevented Mania against Reigns or Styles, won title and then dropped title at Summerslam to Strowman or Miz then yes but a guy who works every week I can't see it.

You're joking, right?

How people are saying Omega better than AJ on mic ? Look at the last promo of AJ with John & then pick any of Kenny's promo from Japan & compare it. fuck ya.

Kenny has little bit I'd say NO talent in ring. only thing he's doing is different & stupid moves which makes him look talented guy.

only similarity he has with AJ is both are Avid gamers.

hi guyz, i r a PIRATE!

I know he can speak Japanese, but he said in the interview he's strictly not allowed to be heard speaking Japanese as they want to portray him as the evil foreigner.

Therefore, I'm questioning why people on here are saying he's a better talker than AJ when he sounds like he's essentially like Rusev talking Russian to American crowds.

Sure, you and I would understand his promos, but his connection to the Japanese audience on the mic is strictly through the way he says the words. He can obviously convey emotion through his body language and tone of voice, but that's different to how AJ Styles is connecting with the audience on the mic on Smackdown.

I only heard his interview because I like listening to Taz every now and then. I liked Omega on the show, but he wasn't anywhere near this hot before he went to Japan and since he got to Japan he said he's been told to never speak Japanese, so I don't understand how his mic skills are suddenly better than AJ's based on his role as the evil foreigner in Japan.

It's easy to appear charismatic when you stand out like that and you know the crowd can barely understand you, so based purely on what I've heard so far, there's no reason to think he'd be better than the current world champion if he went to WWE. Comes across as overrating him.
I honestly don't know what are you talking about, since he speaks fluent japanese pretty much every promo he does. The naturalized gaijin is one of the staples of his character. Have you actually watched a single promo of his?

NJPW is Collage Basketball, WWE is the NBA or Pro Wrestling. He maybe be a star in NJPW. But I agree with the concept big fish, small pond. Whether he makes a name for himself in WWE, is down to a lot of things. Most of the casual audience may not know who he is. Smark crowd def knew who AJ was.

I'll say this when AJ debuted at the Royal Rumble last year I marked out incredibly hard. However, I was watching AJ since the early-mid 2000s so it was such a good moment to see him finally at the WWE.

I've been watching Kenny Omega lately and I would mark out really hard as well. Just like I'll mark out really hard if Adam Cole came to the WWE. Both are great in the ring and great on the mic. More so than Finn Balor in my opinion. I'm usually not really into indy guys but I really like these two.

Also, I don't understand this misconception that AJ is bad on the mic? The guy is doing fantastic on SD Live. He's the total package.

He is good, but very overrated to the point where the dude could literally take a piss in the middle of the ring and people will claim it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I think AJ is better though just because he entertains me more.

When speaking of Omega's mic skills, isn't he the evil foreigner who only speaks English and hates Japanese culture? It's not exactly a situation that requires great mic skills, it's like Rusev speaking Russian to get heat, isn't it? I've only heard his interview with Taz, don't know anything else about him, but people are saying he's better than AJ Styles who is a great talker IMO and it conflicts with what I know about him.

Actually, Omega can speak Japanese because he's been working in Japan for years now. The evil foreigner gimmick is a Bullet Club thing, not really something that he personally can be associated with. He doesn't need the Bullet Club, they just threw him in there for star power. Plus, he's well versed and is a very good talker and has gotten so much better as of late. A lot better than AJ.
