RauteMusik has posted an interview with former WWE Tag Team Champion Xavier Woods. During the interview, Woods talked about wanting to see fellow New Day member Kofi Kingston become world champion,
According to Woods, he would like to make sure that Kofi Kingston becomes a future world champion because he deserves it more than any other WWE Superstar on the roster at the moment.
"The last thing that I really want to do is make sure that Kofi becomes heavyweight champion because I think he deserves it more than anybody in the locker room. He's an amazing talent, he's great on the microphone, and he has shown that he can be successful over the past decade that he [has] been there. And so, I want to make sure that he becomes champion because I think he deserves it more than anybody.
I'm sorry but no. Kofi deserves a hell of a lot of respect but I can't see myself taking him seriously feuding with Roman/Owens/Jericho/Rollins/Brock etc. The only way I'd be ok with it is being a super dirty heel who gets it and loses it quick, like a MitB cash-in then loses it at next PPV.
If Owens/Reigns/Rollins/Del Rio/Ambrose can do it why can't Kofi? Not like they're some elite level talents way above him. Fucking Owens has been WOAT for months.
I think he's mid-card material. I bet there's a Reddit post on this with a string of 300 people all unanimously saying Kofi should be champ though, it's crazy over there.
Of course Kofi can be champion. Look at all the champions recently. It's all in how you book the guy. Everything is booking, let's not pretend Kofi as champ is ridiculous when you have Kevin and Jericho best friend sitcom headlining raws for months.
I can't see it.
Kofi is athletic, he's talented, but a heavyweight champion should be someone who people pay to see. I don't want to disrespect Kingston but he's not exactly someone who people pay to see.
Overall, I can't see any New Day member become a world champion. I know some people see Langston as a possible heavyweight champion but the only way I see him holding a heavyweight title is as a transitional champion and even then it would be a quick, one week/two week reign at the very most.
Kofi was main event ready back against Orton before his push was abruptly halted because "reasons" (hi, Booker!) but someone like Kofi has to be head and shoulders above his peers in every facet just to job in the main event, let alone carry the title. In a world where I'm seeing people clamor for top title runs in their respective divisions from the likes of those such as Baron Corbin and Alexa Bliss, Kofi certaintly is a viable name for a 2 - 3 month run. Lol at him not looking credible against Jericho whose last notable feud victory before gaining the US title came nearly a year ago against AJ at WM. He's jobbed out to Fandango. Get the fuck outta here. :lol
Big E is currently the one out of that trio with the most potential for a WWE title run (but that will inevitably be thwarted because reasons) but Kofi is absolutely tenured and talented enough to carry that belt without drowning for a couple of months. You obviously don't do it now but with some character tweaks and a solid 6 - 8 month build, he is certaintly capable of being either the scrappy face or snake like, despicable heel.
I can't even see Big E as a main event guy and he has so much more potential than Kofi. It's going to be hard to take any of them seriously after the New Day gimmick because it was so over the top and silly.
