So the United Kingdom championship was just another cruiserweight thing. What happened to the big boys?

First off all this thread is not about shitting the cruiserweights, i have nothing but respect for those guys but i wonder what is happening to the big guys in wrestling i mean WWE created an entire tournament in the UK and the tallest guy was Wolfgang (Barry young) at 6ft 1in and most of wrestlers in the tournament were 5.9. maybe big guys or semi big (6.2 and up) guys are disappearing from wrestling?
Your thoughts.

Neville should've been in the tournament and win it because he is the best UK wrestler at this point. I know he is regarded as a cruiserweight but Wolfgang or any other heavyweight from the tournament won't stand a chance. I'm curious when and against who the UK championship will be defended.

I don't think it's that they don't draw anymore, I think people have just realized you don't need to be big to draw. In the UFC, unless there's a Connor or Rhonda fight, the heavier the weight class the bigger priority it gets on the card. So if there's two championship fights generally the heavier one goes last. Brock Lesnar is their second biggest draw ever, and was the top until Connor came. So I think big guys still draw, but now they have competition.

He signed to WOS, so he wasn't available, unfortunately. But yea, Big Dave is an absolute pleasure to watch in the ring. Though you know even if he was there instead of bitching about small guys, they'd be bitching about him being fat and short, despite how great he is.

Wait until they'll announce a 'Heavyweight Tournament' in mid-late 2017.
The E could easily make that great if they timed it right with contracts ending.

The only big guy getting opportunities at the moment is Roman:

Kevin Owens, American Alpha, Styles, Ambrose, Heath Slater and Rhyno, The New day, The Miz, Seth Rollins, Jericho, everyone on that list has was champion and or main eventer during 2016 and Rollins is the tallest at 6.1 and please dont tell me Ambrose is 6.4 because he is smaller than Rollins.
so i dont agree with you i think WWE has an agenda here and they are not pushing big guys to the top anymore they are all midcarders.

Why should Neville or anyone else from MAIN ROSTERS, want to even be part of UK Championship, which is totally separate from WWE RAW/SD. Did you guys even read about the UK thing? They get their own show (in due time i guess) and their own roster too i think. I wouldn't expect Neville or anyone else from main roster want to switch over to UK right now.

Also UK Championship... do you guys even know the nationalities of these wrestlers?

Big Cass - Queens, New York
Braun Strowman, another american, represented America several years in Arnold Amateur Strongman Championships.
Baron Corbin, yup, another american.

You guys want big guys? Tell brits to start eat their vitamins. Besides if UK Championship is for UK people, why would any american be eligible to compete for it anyway?

Op, I totally see where you are coming from. Wrestling is like a circus because there are things you just don't see in every day life that is supposed to amaze you. It's "Sports Entertainment", not "Sport". Andre The Giant was an attraction because he was enormous. People of larger sizes have always been more compelling to watch and I think it's due to the fact that most of us are average sized human beings. This isn't my biggest problem with this most recent WWE Network tournament.

My issue at first was "They should have did this years ago when they signed Finn Balor". It would have been a great way to introduce he and Neville. That ship has clearly passed. Now my greatest issue was the lack of star power, or familiar faces that this tournament suffered from. Also, the small amount of participants in the tournament was a huge issue for me. Merely 16 men involved just doesn't do it for me. I want to see WWE talent, main roster talent, NXT talent, and everyone else. When you look at the talent that the WWE has right now from the United Kingdom this tournament turns into something special. After all this new title is for the entire WWE roster, right?

Where were the returns of Wade Barrett and Drew Galloway? I know that sounds a bit out of place, but just consider this. First, this is the WWE we're talking about. Stars leave and come back rather often and I don't blame them, or the company. Alberto Del Rio is a perfect example of what I am suggesting. He left on some bad terms and said some bad things while on the outside. They still brought him back. What would be the difference with either Wade, or Drew? We're talking two talents who never had the opportunity to represent the United Kingdom. They return to either join the tourney, or ruin it in the finals by interfering.

Sheamus, Neville, Apollo Crews, Jack Gallagher, Killian Dain, and Finn Balor are all from the United Kingdom. Why aren't they in the tournament? Granted Finn Balor is injured, so he is a clear exception, but face it he wouldn't be in it right now either. I think the talent the WWE has really would have helped legitimize this whole tourney and at the same time possibly put some of the talent outside of the main roster and the WWE in general over. I realize the point is to put some non WWE talent over, but why? Just being in the tournament alone for someone not signed to a long term WWE contract is a big enough deal for that star. Put them down in NXT as it's expected and let them go from there. The United Kingdom tournament is for the main roster. Sheamus vs Killian Dain would have been epic for the title. I'm sure others would think the same, but two huge, brutes, beating one another up would have been a great way to show this title off.

Think in the US, how hard it is to find a good big man. Now bare in mind that the US has a well established wrestling circuit and a population of 320 million people. Compare this to the UK where the wrestling scene is only just starting to bare fruit after decades of relative nothingness and a population of 64 million people.

You're far less likely to be able to fill a 16-man tournament in the UK with "big men" than you are in the US. That's not to say it's impossible but WWE obviously wanted a certain level of ability and had to work with folk who weren't already under contract elsewhere, such as the aforementioned Dave Mastiff.

Wolfgang's a big unit and he was in the UK Tournament.
Maybe the stinky, paedo, manky neckbeards voicing their distaste for big guy wrestlers over the past 10 years or so has put off big men from trying out for WWE.
I mean who wants an obese, spotty, greasy haired, cheesy breathed sex offender looking fat-body shouting "You Can't Wrestle" at you or questioning your athletic ability online?
Fuck that!

Its sorta annoying but small flippy wrestlers are the in thing now.

On a sorta unrelated note someone that I know actually used to be really good friends with Peter Dunne, even showed me a pics of them two lol, apparently he's a prick in a real life though, hence why they're not friends anymore.
