Heck Cana was a heel before he turned a face, but so you sometimes forget that Hogan was basically like Cana in the 80s to early 9ps with his Real American gimmick? I know Hogsn turned heel after the fans started to dislike him and Cana still a face, but I think it's funny how people forget Vince is the one in charge he would turn Cena a heel right now. Face it Cena never turning heel and he is the biggest money maker right now just like how Hogan was for WWE and WCW in his time.

It's a mix of things.

1: It was a much different time back then. And before Hulk Hogan went Hollywood, he was starting to get booed a bit in WCW if I remember correctly.

2. Hogan changed up his character, and it was a breath of fresh air. Cena on the other hand (mostly through no fault of his own), has played roughly the same exact character for over TEN YEARS.

Too different back then to compare.

Not a fair comparison, really.

Personally, I hated Hogan as a kid, hated Cena as an adult. The only time I cheered for Hogan was against the Ultimate Warrior and I've never rooted for Cena in a match... Not even against Khali.

I hate the "Unbeatable, invincible, over-come-the-odds, smiling babyface" character. They are boring and their predictability and invincibility creates apathy and their matches don't create any tension or real drama.

different time, different era. Cena would have been more liked and successful back then imo(with his current character).

Re: Why do people hate in Cena for being a baby face when Hogan was basically the same thing in the 80s-early 90s?

People were sick of Hogan in the 90s. He won the title from Bret at WM9 for no fcking reason. The whole say your prayers and eat your vitamins. Was not working for WWE anymore. They were bringing in a whole New Generation. And people did boo Hogan once he came into WCW. That whole super corny babyface shit wasn't working . Wrestling was becoming more real life. And not so much cartoon gimmicks anymore. People hate Cena because he's stale. Eric Bischoff saw the light way before Vince did. And made Hogan heel. Something fresh. And that's why people boo on Cena. He says the same damn thing. Dresses like a 5 year old. Does the same moves etc. I would think after about 15 or so years. Anyone with a brain would get sick to death of it. Vince wont change him. I've heard rumors that John would turn heel. But Vince wont allow it. Wanna bet if Hogan hadn't left. He would of continued doing the same damn thing. And we would of never seen a Hollywood Hogan.

How dare you doubt his passion on the subject of John Cana?

Here's a simple answer: It's not 19fucking85.

The internet ruined things for everyone.j/k

It's mostly that people feel that Cena has outlived his effectiveness as a babyface and could do with a fresh take. The reality of it is that he still sells merchandise and is highly requested for make-a-wish so he isn't going to be turned because he is too valuable to the broader scope of WWE than just as a television character. The little kids have never wavered in their love of Cena and that is highly important to the WWE moreso than the opinion of our specific ilk.

In the 80s, kid friendly babyfaces were the norm so Hogan fit that bill perfectly even though he apparently was a piece of turd in real life. After a certain bald head, beer drinking, cursing, Texas redneck came along in the late 90s, no one wanted that type of babyface anymore.

If male indie wrestlers are refereed to as indie fags then what are female indie wrestlers called?
