Re: Kenny Omega: I would rather be the legend that never stepped foot in WWE.

He says stuff like this all the time. I mean, good on him. Iím glad heís been able to become a star without WWE and prove you can do it. But this is the same guy when JR asked him would he consider going to WWE, he said absolutely. Heíll be there one day, whether or not itís in a year, 2 years, 3 years, etc.

Whenever heís accomplished all that he feels he can in Japan, heíll be there. I really have no doubt about that. So, I donít know if heís just saying this because he truly feels it. I donít know if heís just saying this to get people talking. I donít know if itís a little of both. I havenít followed him enough to know.

But in terms of the OPís quote, itís just not possible anymore. Sure, he could be a legend in Japan. But in terms wrestling worldwide just staying in NJPW? I donít see it. Wrestling just isnít as hot as it once was and probably never will be again. There is no WCW or even ECW. And although there are several indies doing well, theyíll never have that kind of legacy that those 2 companies did. But heís not going to be the next Sting.

Okada was TNA only wasn't he? What about Tanahashii? Can see a lot of big NJPW names that never entered the WWE and making it a longer list than some think.

Thanks for the wonderful memories Ultimate Warrior... happy you got to be recognised as the legend you are before you went. Rest in peace

Re: Kenny Omega: I would rather be the legend that never stepped foot in WWE.

People who believe a word Kenny says on this topic need to realize that he was a loyal DDT boy like his friend Ibushi. Unlike Ibushi who still will not sign exclusively with a company, Kenny ditched that shit so he could go full-time with NJPW. He will move from NJPW when the price is right and nobody should be mad at him; he deserves to get paid.

I give him 2-years at absolute max.

Why be a one-hundred-thousandaire with regional exposure when you can be a millionaire with world-wide exposure?

Do you genuinely believe that omega would generate a bigger pop if he entered the rumble than either matt or Jeff?

This is why I love this guy. He's just oozing confidence in what he can do not just for himself, but for the whole business, and all without WWE.

Great article -- thanks much for posting.

Just as well, he's too much of a goof ball for me. When I watch the way he acts, there's part of me that starts to understand why WWE scripts people.
And if you're happy with the results of that, then enjoy. I personally hate that they've taken all sense of spontaneity and unpredictability out of the product other than what a bunch of sit-com flunkies script into it.

Fucking mark. Getting 5 star matches off Meltzer doesn't make you a legend. The only way to become 1 in modern wrestling is having a successful WWE run. Sad but true.

Well now, that's all gonna depend on whether or not he's going to be able to achieve what he thinks he can for NJPW. The whole story is far from written yet.
