It appears that Styles will go back to working on top with John Cena over the WWE title, who returns on 12/26 for a house show in Madison Square Garden, and is expected to work regularly from that point on. The storyline will revert back to the idea that Cena is attempting to tie Ric Flair’s record of 16 championships.
I'm down. His bout the only face that a heel styles can feud with. And they bring out the best in each other. Styles is probably cenas best opponent since KO. So I'm always up for them feuding. Atleast styles has a chance against Cena given cenas slowly becoming a part timer/his body beginning to show less durability
You get the feeling that WWE is about to do what they do every Wrestlemania season. Take the titles off of all of the full time guys that have carried them from Summerslam til Royal Rumble. Then make room for Cena, Triple H, Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, Goldberg etc. Guarantee by Wrestlemania the champions will be Cena and Roman Reigns and the feuds that will get the most focus will be Lesnar vs. Goldberg, Cena vs. Undertaker, Rollins vs. Triple H. Then the guys like Styles, Owens, Zayn, Rusev, Ziggler, Miz and Ambrose will get relegated to doing some multi man cluster match.
Wrestlemania is always "get back to our original plans no matter what the crowd wants" season...
Called it from the jump and people called me and others crazy. Cena is getting #16 in Texas. The story with AJ is his, not Undertaker's, and no one will be touching that title until Cena goes over for #16. He's getting #17 for the record at WM next year (and will hopefully turn heel to do it.) If he doesn't retire Taker at this years WM in a title vs career match, he'll put over Ambrose as top guy, which is why the NM build was chiefly about those two. Taker-AJ and Cena-Dean should be the top WM feuds for SD.

So Cena is gonna win the title at the rumble then lose it some time between then win it back at wm? I don't see it.
I see Cena winning the title at the rumble then holding it until WM where he will face Taker. I don't see Ambrose vs Dean happening at wm. Maybe at summerslam.
Yeah this is when WWE gets in trouble, cause they have to break logical writing to appease their superstars and part-timers. Smackdown had such a nice flow, cause it only featured regulars that you can rely on and that you can write around in a coherent and cohesive way.
Cena would make a nice guest for Miz TV. Miz could ask Cena what qualifies him for a title match against AJ, when he´s 0-3 and.... PARTICIPATION AWARD. :grin2:
The crowd in San Antonio would be hot for this match, but its gonna be annoying if AJ has to drop the title to Cena.
Also, if Cena wins Number 16 at the Rumble, what will he do at Wrestlemania? Or will he win at RR, drop it at EC and then win it big at WM to break the record?
And where do Undertaker, Ambrose and Orton fit in all of this?
If AJ Styles is facing Cena at Royal Rumble then it's a given that that Cena/Undertaker is happening at WrestleMania 33, for me the only way AJ makes it to WrestleMania 33 as WWE champion is if he doesn't face Cena til then.
I guess it does make perfect sense to do Cena/Styles at Royal Rumble instead of Undertaker/Styles seeing as Cena/Styles hasn't actually finished but I'd love to see Undertaker/Styles, all they've got to do to make it happen is have AJ cut a promo saying he's beat everyone to beat which brings out Undertaker and then you've got that feud.
let Cena win here and not hog the "16th title" storyline till Mania and hijack the show with it. It's a hindrance just like the constant Taker appearance. Have it bad be done with it.
Hopefully AJ then goes face because his heel run on SD has been both comedic and unsuccessful because the fans wont stop cheering him. Its made Ambrose look like a jobber.
Ambrose going heel would be fun and Cena losing the title before Mania should be cool, unless Goldberg squashes him for it at Mania.
Cena/Styles at rumble for the title. And if Undertaker returns, than he could fight with Ambrose.
Styles wins one more time and boasts about how he is the best and he beat everyone. Undertaker confronts him, Styles vs Undertaker while Cena vs Ambrose. AT WM.
Next year, Cena turns heel, beats face AJ and then retires Taker.
I'm not buying it because I believe they would want Cena to win his 16th title at Mania. I've said it for months now that the whole point of Cena losing at Summerslam was to finally get his big win back and 16th World title title from AJ at Mania.
I'd rather they do AJ/Taker at the Rumble. AJ has a much higher chance of pinning Taker (even though it wouldn't be clean) at the Rumble than Mania.
I've been saying it since AJ won the belt at Backlash and pinned Cena at NM for a 3rd time, the ONLY way this story ends is John Cena vs. AJ Styles at WrestleMania 33 in the main event with Cena winning the belt. I've also been predicting that Cena is going to turn heel to do it, because he's SO desperate to tie the record and he knows he can't beat AJ straight up, so he's going to cheat and we move on the next part of the story. Cena holds the belt for a year and loses to Roman at 34 in the true passing of the torch match mark my words, Liner you heard it here first.
NO! NO! NO! Cena does not need another fcking title shot! I wish we still had WCW. Who could offer a shit load of money to Cena and less traveling days. So he could jump ship. And leave WWE for good!
I know Styles is going to drop the title eventually, but doing so to Cena will be just be so disappointing from a booking standpoint.
Especially if it's a one-on-one match, which I would assume will be the case.
I'm sure with Cena, behind the scenes upset, over the contracts of Goldberg and Lesnar part-time, he'll be collecting a title victory in early-2017. Just please God don't let it be to the expense of AJ Styles, who has put the company on his back for the better part of the year... IN HIS FIRST YEAR IN WWE.
Since Cena is not advertise for the elimination chamber. I can see Cena beating AJ at the rumble and then the chamber match will decide who faces Cena for the title at WM. Cena won't be defending the title at the chamber so he doesn't need to be there.
Wait, you want Cena to break Flairs record... Something that took decades to make and has taken Cena decades to break with a heel turn?
That is literally, the worst possible option out there. Cena breaking the record is going to be massive, he's been getting big cheers with his current position as well since he's not been overly saturated, fans appreciate him more. A heel turn would be a waste of one of the biggest moments in the past few years if not longer...
That would suck because everyone knows Cena won't retire. That kind of stipulation only works when there is a legitimate threat of someone retiring, like with the Undertaker.
I agree there should definitely be a stipulation though.
That would be nice. Ambrose was definitely a step down from Cena so it's nice for styles to not have to completely carry a feud. can't wait!
