In 2002, both Steph and Jericho were alliances, and that storyline was horrible. They made Jericho look awful. This was around the time Steph was head of creative, but why did both Steph and HHH make Jericho weak?
Jericho's idea was for him and Steph to have had an affair while HHH was injured, only to find out after he won the Rumble before Jericho attacked him. However, that was nixed because, according to Jericho's book, HHH thought that he was "too smart of a babyface not to know that his wife had been cheating on him for 8 months".
No wonder back then Austin was publicly saying creative was shit. I was getting extremely frustrated with the WWE during that time and that storyline was one of the many huge reasons for it. Kurt Angle's 1st reign as champion was enjoyable. He might not have been booked as the unquestionable top guy, but it was still entertaining as hell. The way Jericho was treated, after he won both belts by pinning Austin & Rock on the same night, was a fucking joke. The way he was treated like an extra while HHH & Steph were the focus had me with one foot out the door with being a WWE fan.
