On his podcast, Ric Flair said a Cruiserweight like Finn Balor will NEVER Main Event Wrestlemania.
Well, i guess Jericho and Bryan were Super Heavyweights when they main evented Wrestlemania.

"WWE Hall of Famer The Ric commented on this past week's Raw main event between Finn Balor and Roman Reigns on his latest podcast:

"I thought Roman should have won. And I know Finn Bálor to say 'hi' only. I'm a big fan of Roman Reigns. And I'll be honest with you: Finn Bálor reminds me of 'The Dynamite Kid'. Does that make sense? They're very similar in appearance, same kind of work, and, I mean, he's a great performer. God, I'm certainly not taking anything away from his performance or the match, but I'm a fan of Roman Reigns, so I'm saying something that I'm partial about. I think Roman, to me, has one of the greatest looks ever in the [professional wrestling] business. He's as handsome as can be. He speaks well. He got his self-confidence back. He has been through some ups and downs, which we all go through in life, but, I mean, I'm just a big fan of his. That doesn't take anything away from Finn Bálor and where I think where I see Dolph against [Dean Ambrose] as being huge at SummerSlam, I see that as being a bigger match than to see Finn Bálor versus Seth Rollins. I just think Seth [has] got too much experience. And like I said before about Randy, Seth Rollins is the second Randy Orton. He's that good."

Re: Charlotte's dad takes a shot at Finn Balor

To be fair, neither did Flair. :draper2
Are you fucking serious? Flair is a legend. He never had to main event WM, ever. He retired at WM in one of the best story telling matches of all time. Finn Balor will never reach that kind of level. Flair is right, drunk, or sober.

Wait a minute...didn't Daniel Bryan headline a Wrestlemania already? Hasn't Shawn Michaels headlined WM multiple times?

Didn't Daniel Bryan headline a WM? :flair

Didn't Jericho headline a WM? :flair

Hasn't Shawn Michaels headlined WM multiple times? :flair

For Ric Flair wrestling stopped in 1989.

Re: Charlotte's dad takes a shot at Finn Balor

First he tells fans they can't boo Reigns, then he whines about Styles and Gallows making a joke while impersonating him, now he is bashing Finn Balor.

Seriously go home Ric, you are drunk. No wonder his own daughter got him swerved and demoted him to being "Charlotte's dad" :lol

Exactly what I thought when I read it. Also Ric Flair never main evented a Wrestlemania.
............... Flair was in WCW/NWA for the vast majority of his prime and he did main event their big show, Starcade, from memory, quite a bit.

Re: Ric Flair takes a shot at Finn Balor

Someone's size, race or sex should not determine if you mainevent WrestleMania or any show for that matter

If balor gets over enough, sells enough merch, house-show tickets then there is no reason why he shouldn't..if a midget or a freaking monkey get over enough the same applies imo

I remember flair taking a shot at Bryan during that summerslam thing in 2013 and Bryan laughing it off..really weird. Pro wrestling today is crying out for new stars and pigeonholing yourself into believing only a certain bodytype can be a star is one is the reasons.

'Charlotte's dad' gave me a good giggle :lol

Ric talks crap to be honest though, he probably thinks his daughter has a great chance of main eventing Mania too.

I find it fascinating how many people in this thread appear to think that Ric Flair isn't entitled to an opinion on the wrestling business.

Re: Ric Flair says Balor will Never Main Event WrestleMania, also wanted Reigns to beat him on Raw

I probably would've preferred Reigns won, too. Not because I'm a Reigns fan, but because I think Balor is far too mediocre to be in this position. Can't promo, no presence, no charisma, very small and not good enough in the ring to overcome all of that.

Even his supposed gimmick - "The Demon" - is an absolute joke. Nothing about him says "demon". What? Because he puts on body paint every few months? Because he comes out in darkness? Why the fuck is he a demon? If you're gonna have a gimmick you gotta work the gimmick. Balor does not.

Take Neville, as an example. Same problems as Balor - can't promo, no presence, small stature and no charisma, but he can perform magic in the ring, something I've never seen Balor do. And he's also jacked for a small guy. So I can see something there. That's not to say I want Neville to get a main event push (unless it's in the cruiserweight division, where Balor belongs) I'm just using him for comparison purposes.

I realize Balor is very popular and most will disagree with me, I just personally don't see what he brings to the table. But obviously lots of others do and, more importantly his bosses do, too, so he's gonna get the rocket strapped to him. Good for him, good for his fans, but for me, nah, far better talents exist that could be in that spot, IMO.

This was KO's moment to finally get a chance, but nah, HHH's boy needed to look like a main eventer from day 1.

Fuck you Hunter. You didn't see it in Punk or Bryan, yet those two proved you wrong and became two of your biggest stars post Cena, Orton and Batista.

Instead you see it in guys like Reigns, Balor and Rollins.

This business will be doomed when HHH and Steph takeover.

Re: Ric Flair says Balor will Never Main Event WrestleMania, also wanted Reigns to beat him on Raw

Don't need to add too much on Ric's comments. I don't really see his logic given the amount of guys that have already been there and done it.

I respect Flairs opinion as I do the posts here, although I disagree vehemently. The state of some of this thread.. I hope this thread is held high in 5 years when Fergal has destroyed every naysayers arguments in here.

We haven't seen a tenth of his ability in NXT and he was ridiculously over. Comments about no charisma just leave me speechless, he is far less awkward than Daniel Bryan was coming in and has a ton more momentum. I really don't see that being a problem. All that said he obviously isn't getting over with everyone given the responses to this thread though.

I think he would work way better as a heel, but I can see wwe making an absolute killing with merchandise from him as a face. I have no doubt he and Rollins will absolutely rip up Summerslam.
