Finlay: I'm not a fan of Zack Sabre Jr

Can understand it, the guys he'd work with would have to do very unusual and specific things like the WoS style etc. It wouldn't work well in WWE.

Well, Fit's a tough dude, and Sabre is completely unconvincing. I'm usually the guy who says "looks don't matter", but Zack Sabre Jr has made me re-think that, at least when it comes to his look. There's a very clear line where somebody is TOO far in the opposite direction of a Brock Lesnar or a Roman Reigns or a Ryback, or whoever else is considered to be your prototypical wrestler, and Zack crosses that line. This motherfucker's looking like he could get sucked into a tube of toothpaste out this bitch.

In regards to Zack Sabre Jr.'s size, it's clear what he should do, if he wants to bulk up: He should go to Dragon Gate.

I mean shit, Neville went from looking like this, before Dragon Gate:

To looking like this, when he left:

Honestly, wrestler's sizes don't bug me for the most part, but ZSJ is incredibly skinny. I'm a fan of his, but he should probably get a bit of meat on him.

I'm a huge fan of Zack, he's like a throwback to the World Of Sport era and those quality grapplers like Jim Breaks and Marty Jones. I can understand people not liking the style because it is very grapple heavy but I thought that would be something that Finlay would appreciate. It's probably to do with his size, he is very skinny which is probably an issue for WWE and their fans.

He's not bad on the mic, his promos are serviceable and if you've ever seen him on stuff like The Candice & Joey Show, he is an incredibly funny person with a charming personality. And he puts all that personality into his ring work. He's one of those incredible technical wrestlers who can actually put personality behind the grappling, like Bryan Danielson or Mick McManus. Give him the chance and he will impress.

This is odd. I do think Zack could cut down on the grappefuck stuff and incorporate some British style brawling into his style, like Finlay.

I think the guy is brilliant to be honest, i love seeing something different, and i'm a big fan of his style. Sure he's not big, but that really should matter little IMO.

Only thing i'd say is that i'd hope his matches weren't too focused on his 'escapology' so to speak, i.e i'd like to see his matches go at a bit of a faster pace than his CWC 1st round match did. With that said, he's incredibly skilled, and his CWC match only showed a fraction of what he's capable of.

@Morrison17

Given Finlay has the ear of decision makers in WWE (I think he is also an agent again), I'd care very much.

I'll be honest even though I like both him and Finn, I'm just going to say with the way WWE is using Finn who is around the same size as Sabre, I don't think Zack would have that many problems.

He just needs a catchy theme song, and marketable stuff. He's already somewhat likeable.

IT'S VADER TIME said:
Sabre and his "style" are a fucking cancer in the wrestling business. He sucks, I'd rather watch a Great Khali match than endure his circus act.
I watched whatever match that was where the internet all started sucking this guy and his opponents dicks, and I thought it was the stupidest fucking thing I've ever seen. If that's where the wrestling business is headed, please count me out.

Finlay's one of the real tough guys to come from the business. I can easily understand how he wouldn't be a fan of an acrobatic kid with no legitimate toughness. 90% of the stuff these guys do doesn't resemble the wrestling we once loved at all.

Finlay works a stiff, almost amateur style with an emphasis on realism, storytelling and psychology. I haven't seen a huge amount of ZSJ but the few matches I have seen had nothing resembling any sort of believability. I'm on Finlay's side here.

That was my first Zack Sabre Jr. match that I watch "live", I watched a youtube video with Pentagon Jr., it was like a year ago, but I remember it being such a great match.

I still feel this is my introduction to Zack Sabre, and compared to the other men, I feel he was extremely over-rated. A long time ago I claimed I loved technical wrestling, and when there was a poll, I said Cesaro (back when I only knew of WWE), and up and down, all around, everyone said Zack Sabre Jr. this and that.

I now realize, I don't like technical wrestling. I kind of combined them all into 1 term, but I now know I love Lucha Libre, Strong Style, and High Flying. But I thought that advanced spots and great reversals, like the kind you saw with TJP and Lince, that is what I like.

Honestly, who stands on someones wrist, and just stands there and waits like 5 seconds. I just felt his transitions were extremely slow and not believable. I think he acted cooler than he actually was being.

Now, I'm sure he is fully capable of doing whatever it is I actually like, but I was not digging what he brought to his first match. I mean I like submission stuff, but man, he had no swag or style. I mean that stuff back to back is boring really.

I think this is a classic case of confidence being wrongly interpreted as charisma. I wouldn't say Zack Sabre had charisma. He sparked, but I didn't see him catch fire, I hope I will.

A lot of people care about what he thinks actually. He does have the ear of the decision makers in WWE so obviously they value his opinion on performers and match layout. Plus he had a very long and effective career inside the ring so he comes with a fair amount of credibility.

Do you think that if Scotty Riggs or Shawn Stasiak said they weren't a fan of ZSJ that anyone here would discuss it?

Anyway my thoughts about ZSJ are sure his wrestling is technically incredible but aside from that he is really boring. Almost zero personality and charisma also looks like a sack of potatoes could hold him down.

I'm shocked, thought wrestlers from that part of the world all kind of gravitated towards each other in terms of style and whatnot. Didn't Finlay use the World of Sport style at some point despite currently being a behind the scenes WWE guy?

If Sabre could bulk up by about another 20/25 pounds then I'm sure that opinion would change. He's just gotta be more believable to be in the WWE environment in the future.

ZSJ Is a very good wrestler, but in the last 12 months he has become THE most overrated wrestler on the planet. People act like he's the second coming of Bryan Danielson, when he doesn't have half the skills/charisma of Bryan. I'm not tying to hate on him, but people need to stop putting him above everyone else in terms of skill, when he's not THAT amazing.
Well, to be fair, Daniel Bryan had no charisma until he was dumped by AJ Lee and grew that stupid beard.
It only takes a combination of a couple of good hooks to get the audience behind you. Then, crowd reaction translates into "charisma".

I mean, I love Bryan's work, but has he EVER cut a decent promo?
Shouting "Yes" and "No" at Kane seems to be his best in my memory.

All that technical shit was cute for the first minute but once he was 5 minutes into his CWC match without having tried any moves that would actually hurt his opponent that's when I was over him. Add his lack of psychology, his complete disregard for selling, toothpick frame and seeming lack of personality and I'd say I'm not a fan either. I was far more impressed by Tyson Dux.

I don't think he's the second coming of Bryan but he's definitely of of the best technical wrestlers in the world right now. He doesn't really need to add a lot of weight imo but getting a bit more defined wouldn't hurt as he looks about as legit as I do at the moment.
