Heath Slater new gimmick should be crashing different shows each week and getting rekt until SummerSlam

He'll be the only superstar that appear on both brands. I want him to get destroyed by Lesnar next Monday. Not sure how the logistics will work for him but it will be a hoot to see him get beat up trying to win a contract sucking up to different GMs weekly.

I think it's perfect for him to be brought out every week to be the guy to be beaten up by a returning guy. This week Rhyno, on Raw it's Carlito, then eventually he gets dicked on by Kurt Angle :D

I hate this fucking company, this is like 2012 all over again when he was getting pinned by Lita on Raw. At least this time I'm not sitting through it. Thank god I didn't watch Smackdown and thank god I won't be watching Raw, WWE really needs to just die at this point.

I've always thought Slater was gold.

He's hot that legit fighting background and is very entertaining on the mic. I wish they would give him a chance to win a few matches and get some crowd support.

It's kinda sad Heath is decent on the mic, the ring and has charisma, he's entertaining! He should be a heel uppercard comedy guy. I wouldn't even mind seeing him as a filler for a match for one of the big championships with his silliness!

To be honest, I was hoping that the Slater segment would amount to more. I was legitimately marking when he first started to cut his promo. Needless to say I was pretty deflated when the whole thing turned out to be a plug for Rhino.

I actually really dig the idea of Slater running interference in lower/mid card matches and cutting faux-shoot promos. The crowd was eating it up on Smackdown!

He will go on Raw this week drop a similar promo about being a free agent then Mick Foley will come on the stage and introduce MVP who will do the same thing to Slater as Rhyno did

It's better than not being on TV

Nah be should do that exclusively on SD LIVE. Why did RAW want to take the heat he garnered on SDL to their profit :mj

Slater can be the new comedy gimmick. It's about time they had one, I've missed Santino since he left.

Slater does a good job, even though you know he's gonna get asskicked at the end of it all.

What? Did you just start watching wrestling last week? I swear some of these threads just get worse and worse by the day. What you describe isn't a gimmick at all. He needs more personality and he has to take on a character that is different from his every day personality. Most wrestlers have no clue as to how to make up a character. They'd rather just be a television show "version" of their real selves. It's quite brutal to watch actually.

Slater

He is one of the few talents that can actually do just fine with his last name. Heath is far too annoying for wrestling. Slater is perfect. Dye the hair black and be today's version of HTM (Honky Tonk Man). I would suggest Slater start watching both HTM and Double J tapes during their days with the company he is struggling to find a role in. Right now all I see from Heath Slater is some ordinary guy who just happens to wrestle. Honestly if this were the early 90's he'd be jobbing to The War Lord. That's not trolling either, it's the truth. Younger fans today don't know jack about this business and it's showing on forums like here and elsewhere. Fans are part of the problem.

Anyhow, Slater doesn't understand that practically everything under the sun has been done already. Today's fans have no idea how brilliant someone like Bray Wyatt is and I think many younger stars in the WWE are just as clueless. I use Bray Wyatt as an example because Damien Sandow has been fired, otherwise I would use him as an example. Bray Wyatt is original, but at the same time not as much as you'd like to think. There are several stars that I see in Bray Wyatt, Jake The Snake, Mankind, and that jobber Waylon Mercy. Wyatt has taken past stars and molded them into his own form, creating Bray Wyatt. This is what "entertainment" is all about. There is a reason Bray Wyatt is such a name and loses no credibility. He is the best character in the WWE today, bar none.

Where is my proof? Remember Husky Harris? He fucking sucked. Husky Harris wasn't a true "character", but rather a wrestling extension of this Rotunda boy. There was no "act" to Husky Harris. Then, Bray Wyatt was born and the rest is history. Wyatt has been telling his story for more than 5 years now. No one else on the roster can make that claim, not Cena, Orton, or anyone else. The only person that trumps Wyatt in this case would be The Undertaker and his "streak" was destroyed. Wyatt is a story because he is a well formed character that is a blend of other characters from the past. People in the back could learn a thing, or two from Bray Wyatt and that's the fucking truth.

What should Slater be, or do? First off dye the hair jet black. Get he Elvis look going. It's pop culture and that's exactly what people can attach to. Get a fucking guitar that you can't play and pretend that you can. Build the moment of when "you finally play". Take from the past and go the Road Dogg and Double J route. Have someone "ghost" playing the guitar with Slater pretends to play. There is a guy in NXT who can play the guitar, get him. Set up the stage for this humiliation, but instead of the real guitarists getting the glory Slater destroys him, not make him. Slater is in no role to "make" anyone. This will actually make him a solid mid card heel, which is desperately needed right now. Have the ring announcer say things like "Slater has just left the building". Have him destroy a painting of Elvis in Memphis at a live show (then sneak him out because they might kill him). He needs to be this generations "Wrestling Elvis" except mixed in with Double J, Honky Tonk Man, and a bit of his own. Follow the buzzards Slater.

Gatecrashing shows and with self-entitled demands only to get rekt. That's the gimmick. The days of gimmicks used to describe cartoons are over.

Stop living in the past.

The Wyatt has a cool entrance. That's all. The New Day are the best characters in WWE today that managed to evolve and entertain the audience.

I can easily spin it around as the character has been doing the same thing for 5 yeas with no progress. The Miz is a well formed character. Rusev is a well formed character. Cena, for better or worse, has told more interesting stories than almost anyone on the roster. Wyatt is a good character, but he's not THAT good.

I just realized I'm talking to someone still living in the 80's. Elvis is pop culture relevance? Jet black hair over his current look? It will be laughed off as a comedy gimmick, and you are trying to make it a serious gimmick. It will be worse than Sheamus's makeover to try to get the audience to take him seriously again. It would be basically the one man band without the comedy. Its might be just me but his current delusional lovable loser gimmick and the one I want to expand is more entertaining than 'serious nobody take my spotlight' gimmick you are advocating.

SOMEBODY has to take this role in an entertainment show; the comedy relief. R-Truth has, and still is, done it for years. I understand that if you're a fan of Slater, it must be frustrating. But, to the vast majority, he's just one of many characters on a show and this is the spot he is happily filling. If he isn't happy, he'd surely leave? For some, titles and wins are too much the be all and end all. Maybe, just maybe, Slater is pleased to be on TV doing what he loves and getting paid for it? There's no real future for him in WWE as a serious, legitimate threat due to his comedy stuff so his choices are to continue - with maybe a redemption story down the line - or leave. No amount of moaning about the direction of his character or how he should get a crack at the US or IC gold is going to change that.
