Maria Kanellis: You Gotta Respect Her

I like talking about the "divas" of wrestling a lot. Especially the ones who were really over (sable) and/or spent a lot of time within wrestling (torrie wilson), and I think someone that gets completely underappreciated for her efforts is Maria Kanellis. Considering how many "divas" simply used the WWE to launch a modeling career or flamed out or were COMPLETE EMBARASSMENTS IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD (ASHLEY), who would have thought that almost 12 years later Maria Kanellis would STILL be kicking it in various wrestling promotions all around the world. We know she's not great in the ring, but I don't know, I think there's something admirable about her becoming a wrestling "lifer". I'm not saying she's a hall of famer or really, I'm not saying much at all, I 'm just saying you have to respect her for still being a part of this industry.

I really respect someone who seems and acts very passionate about one of our favorite things in wrestling.....when she didn't have to.

She sure knows how to handle The Bullet Club...

If Sting can get in the HOF primarily for his work outside WWE, I see no reason why Maria can't get in the HOF for this. Dat ass!

I like her, but I don't think she's really accomplished anything meaningful in her wrestling career, but she's fairly good in the manager/valet role that she usually takes. I don't find her boring or irritating as a performer

What's really impressive is her looks, as that woman somehow manages to never look her age. She's mid 30s now and it's hard to even tell

Cant say i have seen much of her work recently,
But i did see the amazing debut of Mike Bennett on TNA and the the promo she cut before it was probably one of the best debuts i have seen in a long time.

I'm digging her work on as I catch up on TNA right now. I hate her and Bennett with a passion, which means they're doing a good job in the heel role, so...well done!

OP is right, Maria has shown she legit cares about this business and isn't just here because she failed at other ventures like Hollywood and is now looking for the next best thing, like Cena and the Bella's

You might need to research her a bit :)

Maria is the best heel in womens wrestling right now. Divas would kill for the heat she and Bennett get no matter what show they're on.
She hasn't a fraction of the heat that Eva Marie had on nxt.

Where are all the threads or posts on here or elsewhere like mecca saying they hate her because I haven't seen them..compare that to Stephanie

I always find her a really strange one, somebody who's travelled around the indy scene making a living for herself and embracing the wrestling culture but the only time I remember being entertained by her was during a dance off with Mad Man Manson and Danny Hope. Even then it was those 2 who were the entertaining ones.

but really though? No one thinks there's something admirable or something to be said about a model who could've totally just used wrestling as a launching point for something else, and decided to become a wrestling lifer.... and has pretty much been vocal about being a mark herself about the business? I think it's pretty cool. Plus, she's not a Eva Marie when it comes to valet/mic work. She did a good job as the ditzy backstage girl for a while and is a solid valet.
