Dolph Ziggler - Gimmick stealer

It was only 3 years ago Ziggler was my favourite wrestler on the roster.

But when was the last time he actually stole the show? Survivor Series 2014? All he does now is steal gimmicks, first it was Shaun and now he's ripping off jerichos armbar promo.

Guy needs to get his own identity or quit.

It’s clear he doesn’t care as much as he used to. Now, I would have sympathy for him, if it wasn’t for the fact that he had a chance to leave WWE last Summer and didn’t take it. How many guys have left WWE or got released, went elsewhere, and became bigger stars? Guys like EC3, McIntyre, and Morrison come to mind. Ziggler could have done the same but he chose to stay put and as a result I’m tired of feeling sorry for the guy.

But who knows, maybe this brand split will give him a chance to shine more and he’ll have more excitement again.

Bigger stars in general, or a bigger star for whatever promotion you work for? The problem is that NONE of those guys that you mentioned are bigger stars than Ziggler. Leaving WWE where you are highly recognizable, get to appear on ESPN, get roles in movies (however shitty they may be), appear on reality TV shows, do autograph sessions and public appearances where you are swarmed by fans, etc., to go to a place like TNA, where even if you are their world champion no one still has any idea who the fuck you are, is nothing but a downward movement.

Just like everyone else here, I'm not a wrestler and never could be, so I am only speaking from opinion here. But if the money was equal or even similar, ide rather be a WWE jobber on Main Event than a "World Champion" in a bingo hall.

i think at this point it is just mental fatigue. he's been there so long and with guys him and sheamus i think their time (to be main eventers) has passed so he's just muddling around the midcard roster and getting paid. maybe he'll get lucky like the miz or kofi kingston (other stars who seemed to have peaked years ago before their most recent gimicks) and fall into a gimmick/feud that actually raises his profile again and maybe something like that would reinvigorate him but with wwe's shitty management i won't hold my breath.

Come on now. I know the WWE sucks as a company, and i'm not going to try to dispute that, but they can't and shouldn't be blamed for EVERYTHING. Daniel Bryan WAS booked like shit (got bumped to Mania pre-show, lost to Sheamus in 8 seconds, played the weak link in a comedy tag team), and his fan base didn't turn on him, it got stronger. Personally, I think Damiam Sandow sucked if he wasn't paired with somebody better he could play off of, but without even being on tv in ages people still wouldn't stop singing his praises.

Sure the Rusev-Dolph fued last year was terrible, but that doesn't excuse the fact that Dolph himself was SHIT in it. Rusev was good despite it being shit.

Sure, the E dropped the ball a few times with handling him, like after Survivor Series, but lets be honest, he probably would have done what he does anytime he gets any momentum anyways: nothing

Dolph needs a character/gimmick change. I would repackage him and go with the NCAA collegiate wrestling champion character/gimmick. I know its been done before but Dolph could do something different with this incarnation, like add his ''show off'' persona to it to have a combination of a HBK and a Kurt Angle for example. That is how I would book Dolph from here on out, character wise he be a mix of Shawn Micheals and Kurt Angle.

It would be odd for them to embrace that side of him so late. They mention he wrestled but to play it now seems late. But I wanted them to reveal Santino as a Russian sleeper agent with Lana as his handler. So if they explain it in a entertaing way why not.

Personally I couldn't care less if he steals other people's stuff as long as he does it well. If he comes out next week to HBK's music calling himself Steve Austin wearing a Mysterio mask and asking if people smell what he's cooking but does it in a way that's entertaining I couldn't give a single shit that it's stolen.
Thhat could be fun with an amnesia story.

His stock has fallen so bad after the 2014 Survivor Series. Then he had that awful feud with Rusev that made it seem like he was the heel while Rusev was the sympathetic babyface. Now everytime I see him come out, it feels like he's stealing HBK's gimmick. What has happened here?

Hated him at first, loved him afterwards, couldn't care less now.
He obviously doesn't care that much anymore.. I think.

Never liked Ziggles. It's funny how much red rep I used to get 2 years ago for saying that. He seems like a cool enough guy but as a wrestler he's a big ole hambone. I did like his last segment with Corbin though, thought it was kinda funny how he teased breaking out some mat wrestling just to kick him in the dick.

I like Dolph, despite that dumb-ass name. The guy can work, and he cuts a decent promo. He's just another example of a good talent who's been vastly under-/mis-used by WWE. If they had carried out his putting the Authority out of business to the next LOGICAL step, he could have been huge, surely with the fans behind him more than they ever got behind Reigns. But instead they just completely disregarded that whole stip and inexplicably bring back the Authority, and then proceed to bury him in obscurity. SMFH.

Ziggler's biggest problem has always been believability. He has always looked like he's playing at being a wrestler rather than actually being one. He has mistakenly been given the credit for being a great seller when in fact he is a great bumper. Stupid name, horrible voice, bad promos, no sense of psychology in most of his matches and the list goes on and on. He's just plain bad. I'm just surprised it has taken this long for people to finally wake up and realize it. He has a place on the card don't get me wrong, but he's mediocre through and through.
