Since losing the Wrestlemania squash match to Lesnar, for the last 2 months Ambrose has not lost a single match(at least I don't think). He beat Kevin Owens in the main event of Raw a few weeks ago(and keep in mind KO just beat AJ), he beat Jericho two PPV's in a row, which is a major feat in it's own right considering we are in the era of 50/50, and anyone outside of Reigns and Cena avoiding 50/50 is a rarity.
I know his writing has been piss poor, and his character still leaves a lot to be desire, but compared to last year, where he would just lose to all of Roman's opponents to build them up, now it seems like he's actually being built up for something.
Do you see him winning MITB or doing anything major at Summerslam? Or is this another case of a start and stop push with Dean, because we have seen that before.
First and last Asylum Match because that was horrible imo. I think it will be more of the same with Ambrose in the future. MITB? I dont see it happening.
Yeah it was a bad match but WWE still pushed Ambrose in that match a lot, in fact it was the first time that Ambrose won a match looking like psycho he should be. before that he never won a big match.
Forgetting that boring match at ER, Ambrose was given two clean wins on PPV in a row. Been a while since you could say that. Hell, I don’t know if you’ve ever been able to say that. So for the most part, yes he has been protected since Mania.
My thought, his former brothers are now fighting for the title. He’s in the MITB match. I’ve given up hope on Roman turning heel. Seth will be face eventually. What he wins the MITB and eventually cashes in on either Seth or Roman which turns him heel which is his better role anyways.
Too little, too late. He might win a few matches against a 45 year old mid card part timer and other around that level. But as soon as he is paired up against a main eventer it´s back to losing again. No need to get your hope up.
He isn't really THAT protected right now, since his matches were mostly against Jericho and other mid-carders. However, if they continue protecting him through MITB leading to him having a match with Roman... I can see myself sleeping in future Mainevents.
Ambrose beats the likes of KO and Jericho pretty regularly. Keep in mind that these two guys usually beat Zayn, Cesaro and Styles clean, so it is some pretty strong booking. I've not been a fan of his recent performances but it's down to either him or KO for the MITB imo.
I still think it will be KO, but Ambrose is probably the second most likely.
Ambrose has the wins, but his character has suffered a lot these past few months. The two things are not in sync.
Wrestlemania was the chance to take Dean to the next level and the WWE punted on the opportunity. He didn't need to beat Brock Lesnar but an Austin moment would've been nice. I'm not getting my hopes back up until there's a character overhaul and commitment to a push.
Also, I'd rather Kevin Owens win MITB. Now he has everything going for him at the moment.
It's a nice change to see Ambrose doing well in the W/L column. (P.S he was pinned in a tag match on Smackdown, when he teamed with Zayn against Owens and Jericho, so he isn't undefeated as such). As BWTGH says though, his character has gone a bit backwards and isn't shining anywhere near as much as it was against Owens and Lesnar.
As for MITB, i think he's second most likely to win behind Owens. I wouldn't be against him winning it either.
No, he's not going to win MITB or do anything major at Summerslam. As long as Rollins and Reigns are around Dean will always be that other guy down in the midcard. He might get a token world title run at some point in the future, or be involved in more main event triple threat matches to eat pins for someone, but at the end of the day he's always going to be Roman's little buddy, a B+ player.
Ambrose will always be protected to some level as he has an important role as Romans buddy. They clearly want to rub some of Ambrose popularity on Roman.
Ambrose was on fire heading into Mania. He looked like a million bucks after the match with HHH, the segments with Lesnar and him taking a beating only to still stand on his feet afterwards really put him over. Then the match happened and Lesnar made him look like absolute shit. Horrendeous booking. Since then he's looked like a step below the top guys. The feud with Jericho has done nothing and has only made him look like even more of a geek. Ambrose is definitely somebody who will see great benefit form the brand split. He just may cross his fingers he ends up on the opposite brand of Reigns because as long as they're on the same show he's never going to be anything other than Roman's little helper.
The damage from getting squashed at WM to Lesnar is massive, and he still hasn't recovered. To reiterate, it wasn't about Ambrose beating Lesnar, it was about putting up a fight, perhaps kicking out of an F5, but looking good in defeat and that didn't happen. He was tossed like a rag doll the whole time. Ambrose needed a career-defining match and he may have got one but not in the way his fans wanted.
Winning a feud with Jericho is nice, it's certainly better than losing. But it's not the same as Ambrose getting a push. I'm going to need to see him win MITB before I start believing that (no pun intended).
I'd put my money on him winning MITB. He'll be given a championship run. Who else is going to take the title off Roman? Brock isn't going to be champion again, and I think they'll have the Cena match at Wrestlemania, rather than Summerslam. In that case, does anyone else really see Roman holding the title until Wrestlemania? I don't.
As for MTIB, I see a lot of people saying Owens will win MITB, but I just can't see Vince having a guy like Owens as his champion.
