Did he ever win a big 1v1 match (not including gimmick matches) cleanly? And by that I mean:
No interference, no illegal moves, no weapons, no roll-ups, no eye pokes.
Maybe his win against Styles was the biggest clean victory of his career, that would be disappointing.
edit: Only pin and submission wins! Beating someone by DQ or countout isn't impressive.
vs. HHH....oh wait. We were supposed to pretend that never happened.
Despite being the heelest of heels in WCW, he won most of his CW matches clean with the Liontamer. I remember at the time thinking how epic and devastating the move was because of the amount of guys who tapped out to it.
His biggest runs, his biggest wins, biggest feuds were generally with him as a heel. That was a time before the fans started to freak out and overreact about every individual loss, and Jericho has always had the ability to cut a promo that gets all his heel heat back after a loss. He's been heel for much of his career, heels aren't meant to win clean, otherwise whats the point?
He beat Rock and Austin in the same night, not sure if it was clean though. Been a long time. He's such a good heel, we rarely see him as a face it seems.
The Ladder match with HBK was not clean, Lance Cade interrupted at one point when HBK had the match won. Jericho beating Batista in a steel cage for the World title was probably his best clean win.
He pinned Taker in a No DQ match while Taker was World Champ in 2010. Taker booted Edge on the outside, powerbombed Jericho, Edge responded with a spear, Taker sat up and stared him down, went back to Jericho, who hit a Codebreaker for the win.
In the context of a No DQ match, where anything is allowed to happen, Jericho won pretty clean for a heel since he hit his finisher and made the pin.
vs Benoit in the ladder match at Royal Rumble 2001?
EDIT: Oh, wait. Not a gimmick match. Quite the limitation.
Most of his big wins have been as a heel, so it's hard to get a clean win there. AJ may be his biggest clean win as a heel, but he should have won that one dirty.
Almost all of his time spent in the main event picture has been as a heel so it's no wonder that pretty much all of his significant wins were due to shenanigans. When you think about it, there probably aren't a lot of wrestlers that have a lot of "big match" 100% clean wins as heels in 1vs1 non-gimmick matches. Your qualifications are very limiting.
With a due respect even a face Y2J winning cleanly was quite out of character for him. He was Edge before Edge: an opportunist who took any advantage to win. He just simply charmed his way into making us look the other way much like Flair and Eddie did. Clean wins aren't always big wins unless the feud is red hot queued for a face to win (see: Rock vs Hogan, Benoit vs HHH vs HBK, Stone Cold vs Shawn Michaels, etc.)
Kane also went over the WWE Champ this year or last, clean . So you know. I know Kane went over Bray too. I was just pointing out. Bray has one of if not the only one to be protected againgst the top dogs of the past four or so years. Daniel. Bryan and Roman Reigns. OBviousley I remember Reigns squashed Wyatt at Raw, that pissed me off lol. But then of course he beat him clean at Payback. But of course Roman won the feud. That is why I Don't get when ppl say "Oh the champ needs to look strong". Roman was getting this Superman booking well before he was the champ.
Reigns has only lost 4 singles matches to four different guys(Rollins, Big Show, Bray Wyatt,Sheamus) and has never lost a singles match clean. If you don't consider money in the bank cash ins. So WWE has plans for him to be the guy for a while.
Jericho used some sort of foreign object in the cage match vs Batista. I don't know if it's within the rules of the match or not as they seem to change what they allow and don't allow in stip matches on a whim. Either way it cheapened the win for me. Regardless of if it was technically legal or not.
