Is Anyone Else Not Okay With JBL

To a point where something needs to be done about it? He consistently trashes most guys that aren't Roman Reigns, and I've honestly had enough of him not calling matches because he needs to tell Byron Saxton how much he wants to murder him.

Well, I've never been a fan of him on commentary, but I've never been too bothered by heel commentators. He's getting to the point now where I want to actively take action to get him off of my TV. I'm assuming he's being told to say these things, but it still needs to stop.

They've got a great heel commentator right on NXT, and I can not wait until he takes over main roster responsibilities.

I agree with you, he IS awesome.

He's worse than Michael Cole and Byron Saxton put together. He's an annoying, senile fuck who won't shut up for five minutes and actually enhance what's going on. No, instead he'll tell old road stories about what he and Ron Simmons used to do, jokes about Barry Horowitz, or constantly badger his colleagues just for the sake of blurting out irrelevant garbage because that's "good heel work".

BIG time. Though he's not the only problem with the announce team, he's the biggest one, right next to whatever Vince is feeding them in all their earpieces. They're all guilty of yammering on and on over matches about nothing that has to do with them, but JBL seems to do more to bury the on-screen talent than the rest of them combined. Really, the whole announce team and their current philosophy toward calling matches needs to be tossed and started over. It's currently horrible, and Slackdown isn't much better except that it has Lawler in that role. I've actually switched off otherwise decent matches because listening to him for one more second makes me want to slit my wrists.

I hate him. He constantly goes off topic with random sports trivia, is contradictory for the sake of it, spouts off annoying catchphrases, constantly brown-noses the company boy...there's absolutely nothing he gets right on commentary. I'd love it if the obnoxious fucker was yanked off tv permanently.

It has nothing to do with who he praises and who he's critical of. Could careless if he is verbally blowing the wrestlers I like. He's still horrible basically every step of the way. It's only odd because his previous run as an announcer was nowhere near as bad. i don't know if it's the stink of the overall product; or he's just gotten progressively worse since his last run, or maybe a combination of both. But man, is he awful.

JBL is not a heel announcer. He flip flops from match to match backing the face in one match and the heel in the next, he slobbers all over John Cena when he comes out and 20 minutes later he's praising the authority. Awful.

Like the entire announce set up on the main roster his commentary is soulless and nonsensical.

I've hated JBL on commentary for YEARS. He's so terrible. I was so happy at Mania and Raw this year when I was in the crowd and didn't have to listen to him :lol I also won't have to listen to him at Summerslam or the Raw after it, WOOHOO!!

And it's not even the fact he's a heel commentator, it's that he's not even a good heel commentator. He's awful. I basically want to reach through my TV and punch him when he does that WAH WAH WAH thing, fucking hell.

The random sports facts that nobody cares about, the constant harping of people's accomplishments (especially Brock Lesnar, yes JBL we get it, he was in UFC lol), the fact that he now loves Roman Reigns after calling him a 'hothead' and hating on him up till Mania and the fact he calls Dean Ambrose 'the Energizer dummy'. That's not even funny or clever, it's just stupid.

And I'm not a fan of Byron's or anything, but JBL contantly bullying him is getting so irritating now. Leave the dude alone for god's sakes. Why bother bullying a commentator? What's the point lol.

"Look at all this nuclear heat JBL is getting. He must be GOAT!"
:eyeroll

To be fair, JBL is probably just following orders :vince3

That being said, I don't like any of the Raw commentator team. They're all annoying, and ultimately detract from my enjoyment of the product on a regular basis.

The dynamic between him and Saxton is regularly cringey and awkward, and generally has nothing to do with anything happening on screen.

Yep. I still don't get the whole concept of a heel announcer. I have no idea what they're supposed to be adding to anything. Announcers should be adding something to the presentation, not detecting from it in almost every way, which is what WWE's announce teams do way more often than not. Even when WWE/WWF had good, knowledgeable and entertaining heels like Bobby Heenan and Jesse Ventura (God bless him and his constant hammering on McMahon), I still found them to be more of a distraction than anything. Though today I admit, some of Heenan's quotes from back then are gold, for sure we won't be looking back years from now at anything that dribbles out of JBL's pie hole that same way.

He does it a lot with Cena too. He's full blown heel but constantly brags about Cena and now Reigns. I don't exactly blame him though, its Vince in his ear telling him what to say when it comes to Roman Reigns . If this was Ventura he'd be talking about how much the fans hate him. Shame we have Vince constantly trying to micromanage everything.

Come on... Lawler is worse. Maybe not back in the day, but these days. Far more cringeworthy than JBL.

JBL is doing his job. The fact that a lot of people don't like his job description is another thing - he's doing what Vince tells him to do.

His references to celebrities from 50 years ago is a tad odd. I think he keeps referencing things in the UK to pander to that audience.

He gets an odd line spot on now and again.

Must be weird & somewhat difficult trying to do your job in such a pigeon holded PG environment, where the slightest "off" line could get you fired (anyone remember Abraham Washington?).

I'm okay with him. He's everything I don't agree with as a person (kayfabe), but I still loved his title run, and bull rope matches, car entrances etc. It brought something different to the WWE and for that I give him credit.

I really don't think it's entirely his fault and it's very easy to criticise the announce team.

They have better announcers who are living in the present, but they won't get a chance until Vince is not in charge anymore.

More often than not I end up watching the bits and pieces of Raw and the PPV's on mute solely because of JBL. Heel commentators have been around forever....Heenan and Jesse Ventura were two of the best...but JBL is TERRIBLE at commentary, because he doesn't actually provide COMMENTARY!! And the bullying of Byron is getting out of control. What happened to the war the WWE was supposedly raging against bullying? I guess it's a "Do as we say, not as we do" campaign instead.

He has become unbearable, I don't know what the hell went wrong. I remember he used to be fairly good when he replaced Lawler. Now he's a corporate stooge just burying everybody who isn't Reigns or a Vince McMahon hand picked wrestler.
