Do you guys think it would be a cool new idea to have a wrestler who just comes out and says, "I've wrestled all over the world and I won championships" and then that's the whole character? I think that would be a refreshing change of pace. Just no story lines or motivations or personality, the character just comes out and says "trust me, I was really good before I came here, I wrestled lots of places". I think that would really get him over with people because he'd be mysterious by having no character at all, but also people might still think he's cool because he says other people thought he was cool once.
So that's my new idea. I think the next Indy guy they bring up should definitely say something about wrestling all over the world (and nothing else). What do you think? Should WWE hire me?
On a similar note, know what I miss? The mid-2000s where everyone was a jacked up dickhead slathered in baby oil, who will do ANYTHING to make it to the top, including listening to nu-metal and punching people for 10 minutes before they get blown up and hit their shitty finisher.
Maybe we could combine these two ideas, bring a new aggression out of these competitors, an era of ruthlessness.
I've seen this before, Roman Reign fan boys, act like everything that makes up Zayn and Owens is SOLELY BASED OF "TRAVELING THE WORLD".
Get a fucking clue. Traveling the world gave them more experience than anything Roman ever did as Rock's fake cousin, or a wanna be football player.
The funniest fucking part:
People want to give shit to Zayn and Owens for using the "traveled the world" for the intro to their character, and think they are riding that their whole career so far.
Yet it is Roman Reign's bitch ass, who used Shield to "intro" his character, and his punk ass IS IN FACT still riding that, same music, clothes, and moves.
Zayn and Owens are far from what they were on first RAW, yet Roman is as close as he ever was to what he was when he first started on RAW. Lets be super fair here, all 3 have all easily evolved the same amount, making you a fucking hypocrite.
Now, in terms of a character who is a "world warrior" I think it could work if given to the right guy with a genuine story...a simple one though. I've done it all and I'm in the wwe to win the big one. Almost like AJs story but booked better and with better motivation.
OP kinda described the traveling NWA world champs of years past (Race, Brisco, early Flair, Thez, Funk etc). Those guys gimmick was basically that they were the best in the world and to prove it they traveled the world defending the championship. It was simple, but it worked.
Update: WWE did hire me as a writer this week for my brilliant creative ideas! My first creation debuted this week, TM 61! TM 61 will surely be the greatest tag champions in the world! Two generic Australian guys with no personality who come out and say they wrestled all over the world! It's gold! GOLD JERRY! Plus not only did I not give them a real tag team name, I just named them a bunch of random letters and numbers! Mysterious right? These guys will be bigger than Cena!
Well THE guys who made WWE millions in the past (Hogan, Stone Cold, The Rock and Cena) never wrestled outside of USA or made its name out of America and I'm damn sure WWE is happy with the decision they made.
It wasn't just dudes thread, I got it, I was laughing, but it was like 3-4 fucking threads in a half a week, all kept over using the "traveled the world guys" saying that is all their gimmick is, and etc. just like back in day when CM and Dbry were champs and it was "vanilla midget this, and vanilla midget that". One of the thread I needed to blow up, cause fucking hypocrites want to write off Zayn/Cesaro/Owens/etc, yet won't take their own reasoning and apply it to Roman/their favorites <-This is one of my biggest things that pisses me off. I'm more than willing to apply my judgement towards my favs, and will admit Cesaro probably isn't fully built up for a title reign, yet that is actually a reason someone will give me to say why Roman should be a champion.
Obviously I think I am 99% right. Had I not went overboard, and just done a funny GIF, and saved my blow up for the next "traveled the world" thread, I would have got the likes I wanted. Just watch out, you'll see nothing but "traveled the world" bits everywhere, but won't ever hear anyone outside using same reasoning to say, well Roman's using his Day 1 gimmick and that was years ago, yet people gonna persecute guys who have barely been on 1 year, barely long enough to even try a new gimmick.
A Street Fighter: World Warrior gimmick would be GOAT :xavier
