It's looking that way. The WWE has had the issue with making new stars for a while now and they have an opportunity here to capatalize on a big return that obviously people are going to mock the fuck out for. Whether you like Reigns or not, like Rollins or not, the opportunity presented itself and was passed up.
Instead, Vince McMahon is dead set on taking the most extreme and desperate attempts to make Reigns loved (not that it will ever happen), that nothing else matters. It's disappointing and goes against logic that has been proven right plenty of times.
The incompatent writing team was gifted this chance to flip Rollins as a super over, beloved face without even having to do anything. But unfortunately, fuck anyone who isn't Roman. "That's not sour grapes" - It's just the shitty reality and only pisses me off because we all know that in the end of every feud, it means Roman awkwardly grinning to a chorus of boos. It sucks.
And as much as I love Rollins, this just means he's back to where he was before the injury, as a chicken shit heel. Just without the title for now. The hell with something refreshing that would work, right?
His momentum wasn't dead at all, he just has heel momentum. It'll really die after he loses at MITB and whatever the next PPV is if it isn't Summerslam.
I know you are looking for people to blame for this and as you love to hate Reigns, obviously he will the first choice.
But the fact is Rollins' hype being totally killed is totally's WWE mediocre creative team fault, they couldn't have presented him so bad last night, even as heel.
He was white hot to start the show. By the time the segment with Steph was over he just seemed like another cowardly heel. Yes his momentum is over. Still a top guy, but not on fire in the least.
He should have been booked to be heelish, and his motives should be unknown. But they threw all that away in his first tv appearance back.
Exactly the same thing I was thinking while watching the segment. He got a huge pop, he played a bit with it and for once I thought the WWE was going to do what's actually "best for business" and that's a face Rollins vs heel Roman feud. Once the heel promo kicked in I knew what the next few months are going to look like. More of the same, a heel Rollins who people actually like vs a face Roman who the people don't like. What happens in the end? Roman beats the one man who is a credible threat and available for a feud right now (the other options being the afk Brock Lesnar and injured Cena) just to look strong, Rollins will get the Ambrose treatment and will become part of the humongous mid card.
Man do wrestling fans have a short memory. It's fucking crazy.
Are we talking about the same Rollins who had one of the worst reigns ever just last year, and had the ratings go down the toilet while he was a big part of the entire show? That Rollins? He's not some huge star. WWE are using him exactly the way they should by picking up where they left off.
He just about passed as a character when he was a heel, and you want him to turn face? Have you seen how WWE books its fucking faces? The same hypocrites who are cheering him now were shitting on him last year. That shininess would wear off within two to three weeks, and WWE would be worse off than before. They did the right thing by carrying on with him as a heel. He can't turn face until Ambrose turns heel to take that top spot.
I would say Owens, but he's too busy looking like a pregnant lady. He's got all the talent in the world, but WWE is never going to make him the top heel with that look. He'll be a low tier main eventer who transitions out of the title picture. Seth is staying heel until they do that angle with HHH. At that point, he'll either slowly turn face, or become a bigger heel. A lot of that is dependant on where Ambrose lands since WWE has clearly been building him now that both Rollins and Reigns are established.
Yep, Seth handled that crowd as a conductor would an orchestra. He is really good when it comes to reading the crowd and getting it to swing whichever way he wants.
okay I have a question Are wrestling fans born stupid or become stupid with the passage of time What is happening with Seth called natural Character progress
Unlike most of the returns from injury seems Seth did not lose his memory he still remembers how fans treated him before the injury and YOU SOLD OUT* chants so Of course, when he returned he will not be shakeing hands and Kissing childrens because fans feel bad Just because of his injury
his attitude You did not appreciate me when i was world champion, and now this Loser is champion
Just like Rocks turn. I agree its natural progression. I Diddn't expect him to turn straight away. And I enjoyed his Haha your screwed demenour :lol. I think he well turn face when he feuds with Trips.
Doubt it, I really think they're behind Rollins. No one saw Punk's tweener turn in 2011, I hope that hearing this reception tonight and having a double turn down the line, or maybe just a Rollins' tweener turn can happen. Usually he'd duck a match with Reigns but he looked all for it when Shane announced it. I just hope there are the same complexities in this new feud as they did with AJ/Roman because even if the result is what none of us were looking for, it was something to think and discuss about.
A double turn at Summerslam is what's needed here, whether we get that or not I don't know. Still Rollins not getting the title during this feud would be a big mistake.
yes and if he keeps this chickenshit heel thing going he will be getting no reactions in a few weeks just like he was before he left cause that act is tiring and fans are sick of it.
WWE management are insane. You've got the most hated man in wrestling with the belt since Nash or Hogan in WCW and you keep trying to bend the fan favs into being heels.
He's not like DONE or anything, but I think having him bail out of the ring when Reigns came out was a failure to show some character development and put the focus right back on how badass Reigns is.
Well since he used the pedigree upon his return makes it seem like that Authority thing will pop up eventually. Face turn is for the Triple H feud probably. Maybe we can just let things play out instead of judging his return on about 10 minutes total of screen time?
I was hoping for the crowd to start "We still love you" chant after he turned on them.
