He was a very good US champ and i feel he´s gonna be even better, at least with Rusev there´s no way the title will continue beign featured on the pre-show. Kalisto has been a pretty solid champion but WWE never pushed him seriously. i feel Jack Swagger will have a mini feud with Rusev again.
one thing though what´s the deal with foreign US champs? a Bulgarian and then two Mexicans? i mean thats fine and good but i dont know why Vince is doing this.

Yep. Ever since Kalisto became US Champion, he hasn't brought the title as much credibility as Cena did with his open challenges (not a fan of Cena but its true). With Rusev being the new US Champ #1 contender, we could finally see a legitimate feud from Rusev, as he finally gets the push that he deserves, the push that Cena buried. His dominance paired with strong booking can easily make him one of the toughest US Champions ever in the WWE, that is, if Vince chooses to give us what we want instead of Super Cena all over again.
:rusev Rusev is the United States Champion that we need. The United States Champion that we deserve. I'm glad to see it looks like his push is back on track.
Although I expect one day, Rusev will be turned face and joined up with John Cena as the modern day Super Powers.
I do like Kalisto, but i hope Rusev wins this one, he deserves better than what he's been stuck doing for the last few months, hopefully he can rediscover his old fire. Come on Ru-Ru, you can do it.
He's going to win it to drop it to Cena. Although ,Rusev should beat Cena on Memorial Day. Cena should have an existential storyline wondering his place on the roster now that Roman is the guy, culminating in a feud between the two (with a Zack Ryder push along the way).
Honestly knowing WWE, this is just another small man overcomes big man story. Rusev probably means even less to management than Ryback as he isn't even American. Hope I'm proved wrong.
Lots of assumptions about Cena and the US title all of a sudden.
P.S. Ryder seemed like the only wrestler to be getting a strong positive crowd reaction...
I don't know why they can't seem to have both underbelts carry some legitimacy behind them at the same time. It's like one gets hot booking and the other one suffers because of it.
Since Cena dropped it, we've had 2 champions and like a handful of title defenses since like November. They put it on Del Rio and he defended it like twice. And then they had Del Rio chase the belt for another couple of months. I get that Del Rio was helping Kalisto... but the heat to that feud fell flat because Reigns made everyone in the LoN look like little bitches. (Why hot shot booking makes everyone suffer)
And then Kalisto held the belt for a whole month essentially with no feud before Ryback even was thrown into the picture seemingly out of nowhere.
The US Title totally needed the 7 man match at WM because there was totally no heat on that belt at the time.
They should have different writers/bookers for different belts. Make them all interesting.

If they intend to do this right, there can't be any 50/50 bullshit in this match. Rusev should just squash Kalisto in 3 minutes and make him pass out in the Accolade. Then he needs to go on an extended winning streak and go over guy after guy clean as a whistle in order to get back the credibility he lost.
What I fear is that all they want is to put the title on Rusev so Kalisto isn't the one who jobs to Cena upon his return. Imagine the bummer if Rusev seemingly gets a push only to drop the title immediately to Cena. I'd love if they had a match where Rusev went over, that would do wonders for him.
I'm just hopeful that WWE creative has put the engagement situation behind them. Winning the US title is just what Rusev needs to hopefully revive his run as a monster heel who rules the mid-card.
Kalisto makes the US title feel like a Cruiserweight title. If that's what it's going to be that cool. If not, then it needs to go on a guy like Rusev and they need to just create a Cruiserweight belt.
Agreed on all counts. I've been saying for a long time how they need to unify the mid-card belts or make the US belt mean something different (cruiserweight, TV title, hardcore title, network title . etc)
I want them to do that so I have to root for Kalisto to keep the belt
I'd rather Rusev not be #1 contender if he's only going to end up like Ryback though I was ecstatic seeing him win that Battle Royale; was worried Ryder would win then I realised they need a Heel opponent and thankfully Rusev shined through above Sheamus & ADR.
Said in a different thread but the reason the IC title has had more focus compared to the US title is because of the champs, Miz is a quality enhancement wrestler & has superb micskills/charisma but Kalisto is an all in-ring luchador so he needs the likes of Rusev's promo ability & heel charisma to generate a good balance (and interest) to the US title.
