Sad to say, but I kinda saw something like this coming. He's a very talented actor, but this is what happens when you put unathletic guys in the ring and push them to their limit. Increased risk of serious accidents.
I feel really bad for the guy. He has to live up to a standard which is impossible for him, and then puts his health at risk
Enzo's been doing this for a good 4 years or so now and this is the first time i can remember him getting seriously injured in a match like that (He did break his leg while training but that was a good while back). End of the day, it's a freak accident which probably could have happened to anybody, those ropes make a hell of an impact on a person's head. Enzo's taken quite a few high risk spots in the past and came out fine.
He's not the most talented in ring guy ever but i don't think his athleticism is a problem.
Its a shame, because he seems like a nice guy and he tries hard but he's just too inexperienced to be put in this kind of pressure situation.
There are so many WWE-trained guys coming out of NXT that are a danger to themselves. Charlotte and Sasha Banks are two of the worst offenders.
Bandwagon fans expecting every flavour of the month to be megapushed are a big part of the reason why these injuries keep happening. Whatever happened to paying your dues?
Rollins is the most athletic guy in WWE and he ended up injured. Perro Aguayo Jr. wrestled for 20 years from the age of 15 and died in the ring. Enzo/Gotch could have been one step out of position and that accident happened. Had they been one step further back, Enzo probably clears under the ropes without a problem. It was a freak accident, stop trying to fit it into a narrative that you've already decided upon. It's like Vince saying small guys like Bryan are injury-prone, meanwhile Cena, Orton, etc. are injured as well.
So, the guy suffers one (thankfully relatively minor) injury, that was a freak accident more than anything else, and that tells you he shouldn't be a wrestler? The likes of Rollins, Cesaro and Cena have all sustained long-term injuries this year, should they quit wrestling as well?
He's not a ring general by any means, but his charisma and mic skills make him a pretty good package. What happened last night was a fluke on a move he probably does routinely. He'll be back.
Its more that he isn't cut out to be a high flyer. You can tell from his movements that he finds it uncomfortable. He might be athletic in other ways, but not high flying. That's a serious problem, because a guy his size in wwe HAS to bump like a madman and fly around the ring. The days of Roddy Piper are gone.
If someone like Khali can have a successful career in WWE so can Enzo. Khali had size. Enzo has charisma and mic work. He won't ever be a singles guy but his a fine FIP
I've watched Enzo for his entire nxt run, and I've been a fan as long. He's always been unnatural when it comes to high flying. I've never thought he looked comfortable bumping. Any pro will tell you, the number one cause of serious accidents is when you get guys uncomfortable in the ring. They will tense up, get nervous, and bad shit follows.
He either should've been tossed through the middle like most, or rolled under the bottom. Not sure what that delivery was it its like they didn't decide which one and this we got a bad result of that.
When he debuted oN NXT TV, hed only had 4 matches and he had broken his leg while he was training. So he is very raw and he has primarily wrestled as a tag team wrestler. He's never really had to carry a match. He does some high flying stuff, awkwardly, and sells the beating before he makes the hot tag to Big Cass.
The OP is just saying from a safety point of view, in that case, he can change his moveset, he doesn't really need to shine in the ring because he is great in all the other areas. And the fact that he will mostly feature in tag matches allows him to hide his flaws in the ring.

He got hurt doing one of the more basic things you do in a match, get thrown out of the ring.
