The WWE is actively afraid of the effect Reigns is having

After the network subscriptions took a huge spike for Wrestlemania, they knew there was a good chance a lot of people would unsubscribe after Mania ended. So what did they do?

They made Styles number one contender the next night, knowing that he is a fan favourite and they would have less people unsubscribing simply because they wanted to see Styles as the champion.

Then they make Styles lose at Payback, and BEFORE THE SHOW EVEN ENDS they announce Styles is getting a rematch at Extreme Rules. When does that ever happen?

They are obviously shit scared of people getting angry that Reigns won, so they appease them by giving you hope so they can string you along for another month.

After Styles loses at ER, I wouldn't be surprised to see them give a title shot to Sami Zayn. And after he loses a couple of times, they move on to another fan favourite underdog.

All of this begs the question. If they are so afraid of the effect Reigns is having, why do they persist with him? It makes no sense.

Edited yellow sign says "When it Reigns".
Original sign said "When it Reigns it bores".
:lmao Their extreme efforts in this damage control is insane. Maybe, just maybe, if you have to go to such ridiculous measures of desperation to try making people like someone that, I don't know, maybe pushing him is obviously not fucking working?

My thing with Reigns is if he always kicks out no matter how ridiculous the situation is, it kills any suspense in his matches and I earnestly try to suspend my disbelief before big WWE matches. It took me a while reaching that point with Cena, but because of that history with Cena, Ive already reached that point with Reigns because its more of the same.

Least the rock would actually lose. It would make him more over everytime HHH bested him, why are they scared for him to lose?

Should have ended with Usos coming down; Gallows/Anderson giving them a beating outside which distracts Reigns for a slight moment...he turns around and get a forearm and loses.

I have never actually witnessed Reigns getting pinned yet when was the last time that happened?

Re: WWE edits anti-Roman sign from Payback on their WWE.com page

Is anybody really surprised at this point? They spend so much effort hiding the fact that everybody hates him, that it would just be easier to make him a full blown heel.

Reigns is never going to receive positive reactions again until he drops out of the main event scene for a while and/or undergoes a heel turn, i don't know if the WWE realize this or not but they seem to just be throwing shit at a wall consistently expecting it to work with him. He's a guy who can be booked a lot better but they get it so wrong with him at times it's not even funny.

End of the day though they're ridiculously stubborn, they've shown that they'll stick by Roman as a top face regardless of what happens with the fans, they seem to think that, whatever happens with the subscribers or the overall effect on ratings, that if Reigns ends up being remembered as a big name when all is said and done, they've done a good job.

It absolutely baffles me that they openly acknowledge that Reigns gets booed by the majority of fans, yet they still attempt to fool people into thinking that he's popular with everyone. They see what they're doing is not working, but they still go along with it. It's never, ever going to work WWE, let it go.

I think they're half trolling and stubborn at this point. On principle alone, I understand why the WWE would not want to let the fans dictate their booking and twist the knife at certain points; there's a core of folks who will complain, throw tantrums but still live another day to watch and repeat the cycle. But I do feel there can be some accommodations between fan desires and what the WWE wants to do.

I'd love for Roman to turn heel and tell the fans to fuck off. Or however you'd say that in PG.

They're definitely sweating over ratings, I know that much. They've teased "new eras" before but now they're posting graphics and attempting to hammer it home. They're begging fans to not walk away. Announcing the next PPVs main event was definitely another sign of them being scared shitless. The fact they're willing to toy with fans dropping the product entirely just so they can push Reigns is bizarre. I'm not sure if they did some sort of blood ritual or Roman has a copy of Vince's hard drive on a USB, but it's the most bizarre and weird push I've ever seen. They've never persisted like this for a talent. The infatuation is legitimately spooky.

You know, the bolded part is actually a good point. They haven't ever done that. They at best say something like "Tomorrow on Raw, I'm going to address the controversy." or something a long those lines. The PPV has set up Raw but never a future PPV like that. The PPV ending felt like an ending to a Raw. I dont think that even played to the live audience.

Even in number one contender matches they often say "at an upcoming show they will receive the title match".

Re: WWE edits anti-Roman sign from Payback on their WWE.com page

They could have at least finished the sign again with "it pours Superman punches" or something. If your going to alter someone else's words at least put some effort into it.

When somebody not only misquotes you but actually goes so far as to alter what you say ... is that some sort of actionable wrong like slander? If you go through an authors book and change their words in it.. is that actionable?

Seriously doubt it, but I would laugh so hard if WWE actually got in trouble for this.

Re: WWE edits anti-Roman sign from Payback on their WWE.com page

Why do WWE go through all that effort to try and hide how hated Roman is surely the casuals know it's no secret.

At this point everything has already been said. The experiment is a failure, and yet WWE keep persisting. And the crowd reactions aren't even "split" any more. They're pretty much unanimously negative, even in casual heavy cities.

It's akin to trying to put out a fire with gasoline. The more they pour it on, the worse it gets.

At this point, all you can do is laugh..

made me cringe when they started explaining crowd reactions of Roman, adding in that dumb ass catchphrase he uses now which is supposed to support him as a character despite he's supposed to be a face and that he's "the guy" (cough *stole from Seth Rollins *cough). WWE just isn't smart. You can't blur the line between face and heel when he had to just win the belt from a heel in HHH. they give their all to explain those boos other than give the truth.
