What is the greatest hardcore wrestling match ever? in other words a match where using weapons are legitimate (do not consider no dq matches).
Which is the greatest in terms of story telling and great moments, not just the most hardcore matches with blood and risky stunts.
I choose HHH vs Cactus Jack RR 2000. A very intense match with a great face vs heel story telling that made HHH.
If you think I missed any great match please mention.
i know nobody will say this but Hardcore Holly vs RVD on new ECW was awesome, Holly was a brave tough SOB in that match so much so that the crowd cheered him like crazy at the end and he was a heel.
The Royal Rumble 2000 street fight, HHH vs Cactus Jack. That match was on the first ever PPV I watched and holy shit did it leave such a mark that I can still clearly recall it 16 years (including a damn near 10 year hiatus from even thinking about wrestling) later.
Greatest is such a broad term to use for this poll. If I'm looking at which match I felt was the best then it's easily Shawn vs Taker. If I'm looking at the match with the most hardcore spots then Taker vs Mankind will always win with me. Plus it had more impact on the hardcore style than any other match in history, IMO.
Shane vs Angle at KOTR 2001 was insane they beat the living hell out of each other and of course when Kurt german suplex shane on the glass i thought he was dead.
El Generico/Kevin Steen at Final Battle 2010. One of the greatest wrestling stories ever told feeding into one of my favourite matches of this decade. The story behind just elevated everything in this match to that next level and some of the spots were so well crafted and executed but also fed into the incredible story these guys had been telling for over a year. One of the best, definitely.
I also really like Foley/Orton from Backlash 04 (I think it's that one), also a really good hardcore match that used the brutality to tell a story.
Not a "hardcore match" in that it didn't suck as an actual match and wasn't all about the weaponry, but just brutal, old school action that ends with a guy getting his forehead destroyed by a shattered wooden chair leg
Why do u think so? they were the best matches on the respective WM cards... those two were not that hardcore or bloody with dangerous spots but they were epic, emotional with good story telling and had some great moments...
Out of those choices, it's a toss up between HBK/Taker, Foley/Taker, and TLC. Personally, there's so many great absolute WARS from ECW that trump a lot of these matches to me. Those HHH/Taker matches even being on the list :lol
Brock/Cena at Extreme Rules holds a special place too. That match was incredible.
Cactus Jack vs Randy Orton and Edge vs Foley are two glaring omissions. Foley's just a God in these kinds of matches- even Edge/Foley/Lita vs Dreamer/Sandman/Beulah from One Night Stand was amazing.
In recent times, my favorites have been James Storm vs Bobby Roode and Pentagon Jr vs Vampiro.
To me, everything about that was perfect. The Bryan Danielson turn, Hero/Kingston on the same team and Homicide as the savior of ROH. Wasn't the overly violent Cage of Death is known for and had the proper mix of violence and drama. IMO, the best non-WCW/WWE version of War Games I've ever seen and overall, the best since Sting's Squadron vs. the Dangerous Alliance.
In WWE, I really loved Edge/Foley vs. Funk/Dreamer at One Night Stand. Edge was amazing in that match and you knew what to expect from the other three.
Edge and Mick Foley vs Tommy Dreamer and Terry Funk
