From an emotional standpoint, Can The Undertaker's retirement top that of Daniel Bryan's?

Obviously Bryan's retirement on last week's RAW was a hard hitting emotional night for most of wrestling fans. Perhaps the fact it was so sudden made it more of a sympathizing sad event. I'm curious however of how The Undertaker final retirement from WWE would be received by the same fanbase in comparison to Bryan. Would it be more emotional? more sad? more tears? or would it be simply more of a acceptance that Taker's been semi-retirement for a while anyway?

No. The reason why Bryan retired and why it's so sad is because he was forced to by his injuries while being in his prime at the age of 34. The Undertaker, on the other hand, will retire at old age, not to mention that everybody already expects him to retire after this year's WrestleMania.

he's way bigger than bryan in pro wrestling, but bryan had that amazing run that everyone got behind with the epic wm title win. next thing you know he's in and out with injuries and then done for good. i connected with bryan in a way i never did with taker.

something special about his angle reflecting real life. vince thought he was b+ and was going with batista, but the fans made it happen. bryan was the people's champ.

taker meanwhile for years has been very part time and there's been talk of him not coming back ever again a couple times. it feels like he's been transitioning to retirement for so many years now and an announcement at any time wouldn't be surprising at all. not like bryan's.

We've gotten over 20 years with Undertaker, then compare that to Bryan's 6 due to injury. The circumstances then become completely different, that said I'd venture no. We've always had Taker, while Bryan was taken from us.

What took away from Daniel Bryans was the fact it was obvious he was gonna retire about November. Still sad that a person can no longer do what he loves doing.
The Undertaker on the other hand is a phenomenon, he's special. For 26 years he's been Mr wwe. Sure you've had bigger stars during his time but he is the 1 consistent. Just the idea when Undertaker retires that'll be the last we see him. It'll be quite emotional and a lot of old fans will tune in to see the last of their era go.

Nah I don't think so. First of all I don't see him ever doing a retirement speech. Secondly he will get to go out on his own terms. Bryan didn't and that makes it more sad and emotional on that alone.

The Undertaker doesn't need elaborate speeches, he can perhaps save that for his Hall of Fame speech.

He needs to go out in true deadman fashion, a spectacle on the grandest stage of them all. No confirmation of a retirement, just one last match with a fitting ending.

It's hard to say, but i doubt it. Taker's retirement is something that i have no doubt i'll be pretty downhearted by, and almost definitely crying, he's definitely one of the GOATs. Though, i was in tears all the way through Bryan's speech, especially due to how his retirement came about. Seeing someone as talented, loved and passionate as Bryan retire like that was soul destroying for a number of reasons. The fact that wrestling was the one thing he absolutely loved doing, and the story about his father...It's hard to keep yourself in check when hearing things like that.

Nope.

Bryan's career was cut short by injury. It was against his will. Undertaker, on the other hand, will likely be retiring on his own terms, with a 25 year legacy in WWE. Sure, Taker has obviously had more influence on WWE, so his retirement could be considered a "bigger deal", but Bryan's is far more tragic.

What could have been...

it could be one of those things where for many people, Undertaker's last match happened many years ago...and this is just shell of his former self. His era is LONGGGGG gone, so it wouldn't even be one of those "end of an era" moments.

Undertaker vs Sting, in BOTH their final matches, that's the only thing that could pull at my heart strings.

Of course taker's retirement will top it, it would be even sadder because we had taker for 25 year and bryan was only 6.

Seing a legend who gave us memorable moments and memorable matches for 25 years saying goodbye it's gonna be way way way sadder than bryan's retirement, bryan has very few moments, he's career can't be compared with Taker's career.

For me, yes easily.

It doesn't matter how they retire whether they're being forced to because of injury or on their own terms, a retirement is sad and emotional either way. Taker has meant more to WWE's history than Bryan did and knowing he'll never wrestle again, not even part time anymore after 25 iconic years will have me way more down. Plus he's one of my favourite wrestlers.

At the end of the day, it really depends on who you like more. Hardcore Bryan fans will be more upset for Bryan's retirement over Taker's and that's okay too.

The Undertaker is old so his retirement is expected and therefore won't be as emotionally charged.

Daniel Bryan's a young guy who really wants to keep wrestling, but can't, so his retirement really hurt people.

I'm sure Taker's retirement wouldn't be sad. It would be badass.
Also why compare Bryan to Taker? Ric Flair's retirement including his match at Mania 24 was much more emotional.
