It's Triple h and it's hardly a competitive comparison. Triple h was one of the guys who revolutionized the business in the 90s, he and HBK along with Scott and Kevin in WCW changed the outlook of the business, it's the Kliq that kicked the 80s out of wrestling and ushered in the 90s when it should've arrived half a decade prior. The input they added created much more opportunities in the wrestling business and broke glass ceilings and walls that were considered untouchable, because of that wrestling became a lucrative business. I'm not denying the other factors, but really the Kliq's fingerprint was on every block of success in the late 90s, There was nothing successful that they weren't part of, even Steve Austin (his character was first implemented modestly by Nash before he left as well as Razor's character that made a heel look cool, his first push came as a result of the Curtain Call, he got the final push against HBK at WM14, hell even his music was mixed from Razor's old theme). not that Austin wouldn't have made it as he did, I'm just stating the butterfly effect in his case.
Triple h was mastermind behind the most talked about finish in wrestling history, and was a mastermind (along with Shawn) of one of the most controversial acts in wrestling history, DX, and was a major heel in the biggest era of WWE's history. He married the boss' daughter and was one of the players that brought in realism in the storylines. Think of all the feuds Triple h had with The Rock, Mick Foley, Steve Austin, Undertaker, HBK, Jericho and Angle. All the great matches he had with them (especially 2000).
All respect to Daniel Bryan, but aside from the whole small underdog thing (which has been done to death in the past, Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Jericho, etc..) It just doesn't stretch further than that. He made his impact no doubt, and he somewhat changed a small aspect of the business to a lesser extent, and he became insanely over.. but as far as changing the game or the state of wrestling no he didn't, it would've been the same show only with Bryan as champion instead of Reigns, the formula itself will still be the same-old same-old (that's a very strong opinion of mine that I've yet to see that what points otherwise). So instead of "Believe That" we would've got "Yes Yes Yes" until fans got tired of it. Not saying he didn't contribute to the show, in fact it was fun and great seeing him making his rise to the top, but once he got there, there's no more layers to peel imo
So yes, as far as impact and importance to wrestling, Triple h wins this hands down and it's not close but that's do to the difference in the nature between then and now, also the age difference. As far as talent goes, Triple h also wins this.
