Realistically, where do you see this company 20 years from now? Obviously 20 years is a long time, so we won't know who will and won't be wrestling. But where do you see the company at this point? Thriving better than ever? Doing okay? Dying out? Or dead completely? Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if WWE were dying out or dead completely at this point.
They will probably be dead because Vince is the one keeping the company afloat.
How people consume media and how WWE can monetize that will be the deciding factor more than 'why does WWE not book my favourites to win?' with where WWE will be in 20 years. 30 years ago did we think expensive PPVs will be a sustainable business model? 20 years ago with our 56K modems did we think it was possible to consume video content over the internet? Who know what technology will change our media consumption habits in 20 years?
It'll be dead. Vince is currently writing an encyclopedia of future WWE booking for every possible scenario so that he remains in charge until they awake him from his frozen slumber in 2246 (he will freeze himself in 5 years).
Is it fair to say Vince will be gone for some of those years?
Not saying he will be dead, but time catches up on everyone and I can't see him being as involved as he is now heading into his 90's.
So who takes over? HHH and Steph are the obvious choice. They could work, but I am convinced Steph does not have the brain she thinks she has. I think a WWE playing out to Steph's vision would not last too long.
Shane would be the dark horse. He is a proven business man, proven to have popular ideas with the fans and proven to want to take risks.
Beyond those candidates it would have to be an outsider. But I think Vince would need to be dead for that to happen.
My opinion is that the next 10 years will establish the wwe network. With that platform established and Shane possibly coming back into the fold the wwe can take risks and grow further
It's going to suck when all the "old school" booking minds are gone and all the indy promotions are dead.
The WWE will have to rely soley on their shitty B-list hollywood writers and their performance center to create stars.(The best talent they've produced so far being Eva Marie)
If they keep catering to smarks and social justice *******, and if they keep pushing guys like Ambrose, they will be dead.
If they go back to their essence (big charismatic guys / charisma, look and mic skills > ring skills) they will be better than ever and a new wrestling boom will begin.
Will be dead as we know it, but the brand will be owned by Disney or even NBC/Universal so they will still have shows in their theme parks or something...>
While I agree, Disney did make star wars become even bigger with this latest movie. So them buying the company may not be an absolute killer. It can't possibly be more pg oriented than now.
They'll be kept afloat by the loyal fans they openly despise.
