Just as the title says, I feel like the passion isn't in the voices of the commentators like it once was.. I'm watching a Smackdown from 2004 and just listening to how Cole sounds so much more like this is what he WANTS to be doing. I'm so sick of listening to the old timers just there because they're known go out there and bash guys actually trying to call a match and not just babble about the same thing repeatedly.
I think JBL is okay, but repetitive, he has his potential as a former wrestler though, the guy can be entertaining. They all can, but they just insist on being robotic..
The King seriously needs to retire. He isn't the same, he doesn't care. I respect the hell out of the guy, but he doesn't need to be in the booth at all anymore, guy has nothing left to prove and know it and unfortunately also shows it..
Cole CAN be great, but he just sounds like he doesn't care.. ever.. I get it, the product is repetitive, but in a time where they need to make stars, the commentary is doing no favors. Repeating half ass comments about Reigns isn't building someone. I mean you kinda hear it with AJ, but they still don't care. Cole is a disappointment to me, i think he could be much better.
Byron never gets to talk despite being the young one who needs to show his stuff.. and who knows guy could be good but he's literally ridiculed for speaking, now idk if thats just a gimmick but if so it SUCKS. Feel bad for the guy.
Guy with the glasses (not Raulo, the NXT guy)I've seen him in NXT and hes ok, thought it was cool to see him on Smackdown, guy could be ok. Acts like he cares more, Graves is kinda iffy just yet though..
Mauro could be the breath of fresh air I'm looking for, hes far from perfect but the guy cares about the match and gets the other guys somewhat enthused.. whether it be that theyre competing with him to talk or show him up I LIKE IT. I like them feeling like they WANT to show eachother up and show how passionate they are. Not the same robotic ways week after week. If guys are burnt out, switch up the commentary every so often. Have JBL, Cole, and Byron, then Mauro, Cole, and Saxton. DO SOMETHING.
Does anyone agree? Who is your favorite? Mine is obviously the most passionate guy in the booth ever JR, but I love me some Joey Styles. Idk if I'd say he is better than Cole though
