WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin spoke with ABC27 on Wednesday while attending the Great American Outdoor Show. Here are the highlights.
"On possibly appearing at WrestleMania 32:
“As far as the storyline goes, if it’s not something that really makes sense, if it’s not something that’s really good or has an impact, it’s not worth doing.”
On Daniel Bryan’s retirement:
“It’s a hard pill to swallow when you have to walk away from something that you truly love. That’s a guy who worked his tail off and the system was against him, he wasn’t the guy that was the chosen one. And because the fans believed so much in him, they had to make him the chosen one.”
“It’s like Paul Orndorff, Mr. Wonderful, told me a long time ago when he had to retire. He said ‘Steve, there is life after wrestling.’ and I said ‘There is?’ and he goes ‘Yes, there is.”
“It’s a hard pill to swallow when you have to walk away from something that you truly love. That’s a guy who worked his tail off and the system was against him, he wasn’t the guy that was the chosen one. And because the fans believed so much in him, they had to make him the chosen one.”
And that's the bottom line, cause Stone Cold said so
Austin fucking telling it like it is:rusevyes
Bryan was the Rock/Austin/Hogan figure WE THE PEOPLE chose for this era. Cena and Reigns were the corporate chosen ones, and Batista too obviously. The corporate pick to headline Mania, but the fans chose differently
This is the same guy who said the same thing after not appearing on Raw for years and then came on just introduce The Undertaker. He'll be at WrestleMania. No question. It's in fucking Texas for crying out loud. Whether as guest ref or a host or something else, he'll be there.
“As far as the storyline goes, if it’s not something that really makes sense, if it’s not something that’s really good or has an impact, it’s not worth doing.”
Translation: Unlike with The Rock, WWE doesn't give enough shit about me to have me involved in Mania 32 event, even though its happening in my homestate of Texas.

Being in Tx I will be surprised if Austin doesn't make some kind of appearance even if it's in a non-wrestling role where they do a promo segment of hitting a few Stunners (preferably on New Day after they rundown Tx).

Would agree since Austin rarely makes any appearances as much now & it would be a great moment for New Day having Austin with them but aside from doing a homestate promo alongside other local Legends (hopefully HBK) there's not much else he could do since he's retired.
Does this mean that we're getting Daniel Bryan vs Stone Cold at Wrestlemania 32? I can say YES! YES! YES! to that...
Joking aside,I doubt Austin will have nothing to do with Wrestlemania 32. It's in Texas,it's the biggest Wrestlemania so far and they really need something to add to the show. Steve Austin will almost definitely return for Wrestlemania 32.Nice words from Stone Cold Steve Austin to Daniel Bryan, from one 'Chosen One' to another. Two wrestlers who I admire quite a bit; it's great to hear Austin trying to advise Bryan.
He's definitely going to be there. There's no way Vince is letting Stone Cold miss WM32 in Texas, especially when so many of WWE's biggest names are either injured or retiring. I'm guessing Austin will either host WM or do something with Vince for nostalgia purposes.
He's probably going to be there in some form... however they probably want him to have a larger role and that's probably something that he doesn't want to participate in unless it makes sense.
Which I don't blame him. I can see it now... Triple threat match, Ambrose v Reigns v HHH...
Stone Cold in Ambrose's corner, Rocky in Reigns's, and Vince in HHH's.
