Now that DB has retired due to medical reasons and the fact that WWE and Vince were Legitimately worried about DB's health and that it was far worse than than the other docs said. Will some of the heat from the IWC and Crowds subside now that everyone knows with 100% certainty that DB wasn't being held back to due Roman's push? I feel a lot of the hate and heat was due primarily to the fact that "WWE was holding Bryan back so he didn't steal the spotlight from Reigns." Yes he's nearly untouchable in last couple years, but he's nowhere Brock invincibility and everyone eats it up...
Nah, i don't think so. Bryan was out of everyone's minds at the Rumble and Reigns still got shit on by the crowds. Part of the heat on Reigns was to do with Bryan, yeah, but there are a ton of other reasons why Reigns isn't liked by the hardcore fans, it's just that they don't think he's good enough for the role, or that they're simply tired of his push and portrayal. It's just boring, not all of it was to do with D-Bry.
Blaming Bryan for the Reigns hate/dislike is still a thing?
Thought the Rumble and the following 2 Raws (one in Birmingham, AL) would've cleared that up fallacy by now. :draper2
If I had to put money on it, I would bet that Reigns is boo'd heavily at Fast Lane and again at WM, and continued to get boo'd as a face champion after Mania.
Does Bryan, who's been off-TV since mid 2015, retiring alter Reigns being a bad promo, a mediocre wrestler, a non-existent personality and character, and an obnoxiously overpushed black hole of entertainment?
Blaming Daniel for Romans subpar monster push is so February 2015. No one hijacked for Bryan this year. He was out of sight and out of mind. Fans had long come to terms that he wasn't going to be the guy. Some of you will be sounding like absolute mad men, shaking your fist at the sky three years from now in 2019.
"If it wasn't for that damn Daniel Bryan, Roman would have been cheered in Birmingham Alabama last night!"
Fuck no! I'm a Reigns fan, but he won't get love until hardcore fans are convinced Vince hates him. Thats how it works with the new guys. If you're in the main event and its believed or known HHH or Vince like you, you will be disliked whenever you touch the top spot and it will be implied you were handed a spot.
Let's look at some of the last champions
Reigns- Vince loves him gets immense hardcore hate. But was pretty over during his upper midcard and Shield stints.
Rollins- HHH loves him was hated in a non Kayfabe way as champ. But was loved before the cash in and after his injury.
Del Rio- Vince loves him is hated whenever he's in WWE. Loved when being the same person in LU and AAA
Sheamus- Worked out with HHH a few times by his own admission, yet has been called HHHs workout buddy for years. And anytime he's in the main even it gets brought up HHH is why he's there.
Point is being linked to the boss makes a lot of hardcore fans act stupid. The moment you're linked to the boss and in a big spot hardcore fans act like everything about you're spot is undeserved regardless if they liked you pre main event world title run.
The only reason Bryan and Punk were so over with hardcore fans is because a lot of hardcore fans are still convinced WWE hates them. Right now you can only be a new top face if hardcore fans think you're an underdog backstage.

Bryan had nothing to do with Reigns' lack of popularity. Reigns' lack of charisma/ability to sell himself on the mic is what led to his popularity being far below his level of push.
Probably not. I don't think Bryan has anything to do with Reigns' shitty character writing or the incessant fetishes many fans have for other wrestlers which 90% of can be chalked up to them not getting pushed.
But its not just Reigns any world champ who HHH or Vince like has got the same non kayfabe "shoved down our throats" treatment from a lot of hardcore fans.
Rollins got it
Sheamus got it
Del Rio got it.
The only two new world champs that didn't get it were Punk and Bryan who to this day hardcore fans swear Vince and HHH both hate and both want to fail.
You literally can't deny this post. In 2016 a lot of hardcore fans care more about if you're liked backstage by the bosses than what you do on screen.
Reigns is already no. 2 to Cena. (He granted another make a wish before last night show) so unless you think he can surpass Cena now that Bryan's gone then the answer is no.
The Reason Reigns is disliked isn't Bryan's fault its Vince's. Bryan did everything to get Reign's over during their little feud, he made him look a million bucks and the crowd still didn't buy him. If Bryan and bloody Rock can't get you over you are in trouble.
I honestly think Vince now thinks Reigns will get over cause Bryan is not around. Simple truth Reigns will be a main eventer but he never be the man.
No, for the love of God, no. This incessant need to point to anything but Reigns's shortcomings as an entertainer and creative failing to give him anything interesting to do is only going to make any resentment towards him that much more prominent, kinda like how people wanted Danidl Bryan to fuck off because of some of his fans. Bryan's gone now and has essentially been an irrelevant part of WWE's programming since April. He didn't get one fucking mention during the Rumble and Reigns still got booed.
Doing all these mental gymnastics on making it seem like it is OBJECTIVELY impossible for anyone to accept Reigns where he is comes off as desperate. The excuses fall to the wayside time and time again.
Reigns' biggest issue is his lack of character/personality. In a competition of babyfaces, if you put him against anyone who's charismatic or likeable and he isn't going to hold up. He isn't holding up now against Ambrose and Lesnar, he didn't hold up against Bryan. I'm not even sure he could get cheered over John Cena.
It's just not going to work out for Reigns without some major changes to his personality.
This. So much this. I'd like to get more invested in Reigns. But it just isn't clicking for me and I'm growing tired of the same old mundane act.
He is just another guy so far. A pretty good wrestler actually. But Roman nonetheless reminds me more of a darker haired Test than any truly top guy in fed history. His own relation included.
