Now that we've got out those feels , I want to try and cheer up and discuss something positive about his future.
There are plenty of options like a RAW/Smackdown commentator, a RAW GM, a manager, the head trainer for NXT, etc.
I would personally like him to be the "Ric Flair" of a WWE Bullet Club faction. I know he wouldn't be able to wrestle, but his popularity could really help the likes of AJ, Balor, Machine Gun, and Gallows get very over very quick, and we could, selfishly, enjoy him on television weekly.
But that's just a thought I had, what would you like/what do you think he'll do now, if anything, with the WWE?
Forget trainer, I want someone competent to BOOK this fucking product. I'm sure Bryan has a clue, and as much as Arn, Dean, Steamboat and friends are well liked and remembered, they've proven that they just can't get the job done. We need someone who will do away with this parity bullshit and use the Scott D'Amore method. Pick 2 guys who you know will have a good match, schedule them to wrestle on PPV and book backwards to figure out how you get there. I'm confident he can do it.
- Trainer
- Producer / Road Agent
- Host / Appearances on Network Shows
- rare / storyline specific cameos on Raw
- media ambassador
- etc
As far as a regular on air role is concerned I wouldn't want to see it now or in the near future. It would just be too sad to be constantly reminded of how he had to give up his dream. But maybe it would "feel right" after some time has passed.
Thats my take. Heartbreaking to watch. He looked in so much pain. I feel for him. I really do. If he's done wrestling, staying in the business and not wrestling will eat away at him.
To be completely honest, I think it would be very difficult for Bryan to be around the product and not being able to compete. At this point it might be best for him to focus on his familly and life outside the business while making occational appearances to pop the crowd. I don't see him taking a regular on-air gig
I can see him being a trainer tho, at least that way he could find a new passion teaching his experiences to a new generation of talent. He would probably have to move closer to Orlando tho
Every time I see someone mention Bryan being a trainer in NXT, a kitten dies. Bryan and Brie live in Arizona, they aren't gonna fucking move to Florida.
I dont see him near the product any time soon. His presence will simply overshadow too many guys on the roster and the active talent should be the focal point. I could see him on a Tough Enough style show and he still might be seen on Total Divas, I suppose.
He'll take some time away from the product now and hopefully find peace/satisfaction quickly. He's extremely passionate about the environment. Although he stopped being a vegan because of a soy intolerance, I'm sure healthy eating is something he's passionate about too. I'm sure there will be masses of companies and organizations queuing up to get him involved in something. He and Brie were/are involved in promoting local food already even before his retirement.
Maybe he'll be in Brie's corner for her final match, whenever that is. I assume she won't be wrestling for that much longer either so they can start a family etc.
If he did decide to take a job within the company, wouldn't he want something main-roster related so he could travel with Brie? I don't see him going to NXT.
Would love to see Daniel Bryan release something similar to 'Wrestling Road Diaries' or perhaps a Podcast. With the Podcast, he could travel when Brie travels.
If he decides to go to NXT, he and Brie would have to move to Florida.
The possibilities are endless...personally I'd love him to be a colour commentator because I think he would be really good at it, he has such a likable personality and his comedic timing is excellent. Whatever he does though I will follow him.
Have him have some sort of active role in NXT, that's a Network only show and if fans aren't watching NXT yet....they just may if they mention Daniel Bryan being on NXT whether it be commentary, a manager, trainer, etc.
Other than that, if you want to keep him involved in the WWE....he can always be a defiant commissioner against the Authority or at least start with a guy in NXT and bring him up to WWE and remain his mentor and manager. They can certainly enhance talent coming up if he's their manager. DB is pretty decent on the mic and pretty much turns anyone into an instant face.
He's not contractually obliged to any other role than wrestler to my knowledge. The froze his contract or whatever and he has a non-compete clause obviously....guess he's stuck for the time being...if that's the case...fuck it....make some money on periodical appearances or a part-time role.....Brie will be on the road competing still from time to time...just schedule Brie as enhancement talent....have DB be part of that Raw or Smackdown 1-2x a month....I dunno.
I think Foley has lost his role as the universally loved babyface brought in to try and garner a reaction for a tepid feud.
It's quite depressing still to think that he won't be wrestling again so I hope he just stays away for a while now until there is a good story or reason to bring him him back for.
Hopefully nothing. It would be best for Bryan and WWE if he went off to do his own thing. If he sticks around people will always try to start rumors/ideas of him coming back, and that's not fair to other wrestlers who could use the support and attention from fans. Bryan being gone opens the door for other looked over talent to get the attention needed to get pushed. Maybe Bryan can start a new business venture for himself.
