2005 was worser imo. I would say WWE is bad. But stuff like Owens going over Cena clean. Lesner beating the streak, NXT. Makes WWE 2015 still watchable.
2007 when Cena wins the championship again at first month, I even stopped watching wrestling until the rumors that The Rock is gonna make his return at SummerSlam 2009, even when I started to watch again I was wastching Smackdown only, until Bret Hart returns.
2007 is up there for me in bad years. Not just cos of the Benoit thing, but that year had a bunch of injuries, boring storylines towards the end of the year, quite a few terrible PPVs, it all felt so uninspired...
This is easily the worst year of the 21st century. I didnt watch 1995 so I cant say its the worst year. This though is easily the worst of the 21st century.
The WWE title has been on a guy who only showed up once every 3 months, Seth Ratings Killer Rollins and all in all there is nobody in WWE I feel a connection to or care about.
I mean, this year is incredibly lifeless and injury riddled. Worse? I think Id go 1995 over 2009 because at least 2009 had Punk at imo. his strongest run and Michaels/Taker while 1995 Michaels/Razor aside was an absolute joke (the whole industry in the US minus ECW was and that was pre-TNN and internet in infancy so if you weren't in the northeast and didn't have a tape trade connection: you likely didnt get it so the landscape was atrocious) I do think 2009 deserves to be highlighted though. Note that Ive heard ECW has some well hidden good stuff through the year but I didnt watch that.
In what may be the worse mini-angle of all time: there was the Raw with "enis envy" and a main event of the Denver Nuggets vs the Los Angles Lakers all over a building space misunderstanding
The lowest of low trifecta of Raw guest host episodes in Jeremy Piven, Al Sharpton and Cedrick the Entertainer producing some horrid, all time horrid Raws
Even stepping above that: pretty much every guest host I remember was pretty lifeless and bad minus Jackman, Bob Barker maybe Shaq too
An endless gimmicked feud between Chavo Guerrero and Hornswaggle
What was an extremely well done angle initially turned way south with the extremely cheesy HHH home invasion and the angle got killed literally Monday before freaking WM when the Mcmahons came back and killed all of Orton's heat by clearing Orton. Of course, what proceeded was cold as ice finish to WM
Orton/Cena going on for what seemed like eternity
Dry as a old toast dx reunion
Obviously You got the absolute classic with HBK/Taker and their solid feud leading in, but other than that match I dont remember that many standout matches that didn't involve CM Punk
Santina Morella
Didn't the anonymous GM angle start that year?
Edge on steep decline starting that year
I believe that is when JBL is poopy happened
Seemed like a sea of heartless matches
Since the change to WWE, 2015 is definitely up there amount the worst. But there were some really, really bad years before that, too. Of course the whole change from WWF to WWE itself and the very public assertion that wrestling is entertainment totally emasculated the company's public image, especially on the heals of the Attitude Era. Things really seem to have been in a generally steady decline since then.
2009 fucking sucked. when they went full G-rated with Cena, Hardy, and Mysterio, fake DX w/ Hornswoogle (after he had that retarded feud with Chavo), Mark Henry in red singlet and dance with MVP. Big Show was a babyface (not that he's any better as a heel). Shitty ECW.
