I just want to know why this myth that Vince only cares and will use muscle guys still exists. When you look at guys he's put the top title on like

Bret Hart- 1A/1B top guy main evented multiple Mania Main Events and World Titles

Shawn Michaels- 1A/1B top guy multiple Mania Main Events and World Titles

Chris Jericho- 1st undisputed champ, multiple other World titles, Most IC titles ever, main evented a Mania.

Eddie Guerrero- Beat Brock Lesnar for a World title. Walked out of Mania champ over Kurt Angle. Pushed as a top 3 face (and heel) on Smackdown until his death.

Chris Benoit- won a Rumble main evented a Mania made HHH and HBK tap in consecutive PPVs).

Rey Mysterio- Won a Rumble and world title at Mania. Multiple world championships. Pushed as a top 5 face his entire time until he was too injured to use consistently.

CM Punk- Multiple MITBs, IC champ, Multiple time World champ. Pushed as a top 3 guy since 2011. Longest title reign of the modern era at 434 days.

Miz- went from Diva Search host to Tag champ to midcard title holder to WWE champ and main evented and walked out of a Mania as champ.

Daniel Bryan- Main Evented a Mania going over Evolution in one night. A US champ, Tag, Champ, MITB winner, and multi time world Champ. Won an IC title became a Grand Slam champ. Pushed as a top 3 face from the time Team Hell No started facing the Shield until his injury in 2014.

Rollins- 1st NXT Champ, apart of the Shield, Tag champ MITB winner, Walked out of Mania as champ, US title winner.

So with all those guys balancing out the giants and muscle guys why are some hardcore fans still pretending the averaged sized guys have no chance to succeed?

Yeah, this is pretty much it. All of those guys listed didn't have easy paths to get to where they top.

It's more of a 'Small guys aren't Vince's first choice'.

Because the hardcore fans who claim it operate on how they want to feel, not actual facts.

Funny because guys like Cesaro, Ryback, & Barrett are pretty big guys who don't get pushed yet Vince still gets bashed for pushing big guys when 3 of the most pushed full time guys in the last 5 years, Bryan, Punk, & Rollins are all considered small. Not to mention people like Ziggler already had a pretty good careers as well.

It's just another excuse to irrationally moan & bitch.

Since Cena has become the man the guys he's put serious main event time into are

1. Rey Mysterio
2. CM Punk
3. Miz
4. Sheamus
5. Del Rio
6. Bryan
7. Rollins
8. Reigns
9. Jeff Hardy
10. Swagger
11. Mark Henry
12. Christian

Of those 12 only Sheamus, Reigns, Henry, and Swagger are
big guys. But of course lets ignore facts right.

8 of 12 guys that spent time in the main event or as world champ since Cena became the man were of average build but of course "Vince has a hard on for muscles"

Jericho Vince never had any faith in. When he was UC Jericho overheard him saying business must be down (paraphrasing). Hart got the belt because Vince was going through a drug trial and having a smaller guy as champ made sense. Rollins is taller than HBK. Bryan was meant to be dumped off in a feud with the Wyatts but the fans reacted to this and made him champ. Guerrero was champ on Smackdown AKA Paul Heyman show. Mysterio was given the WHC because of Guerrero death.

Bret's from a legendary family and one of the greatest wrestlers ever. Plus he had this honesty about him that just made you like him.

HBK- He's probably the best overall wrestler after Ric Flair. And he wasn't short. He was about 6 foot and in his prime looked like a fucking god.

Y2J- 6 foot isn't short, and he was 230 pounds in the late 90's.

Eddie-Seriously? Eddie was perfect. One fo the most charismatic guys ever and one of the few who could get goood reactions whether face or heel.

Benoit-Fuck this guy.

Mysterio- IS probably the best high flyer in history and everyone liked him. He only won the WHC because of Eddie though.

Punk- Vince did try to hold him down, so Punk cut an iconic promo that should have made him the top guy. But Vince still held him down. When he was WWE champ, he was midcarding ppv's while Cena fought John Laurinitis. And after he lost to Rock, Vince had no plans to keep him in the picture.

Miz- the male total divas.

Bryan- The most over guy since Austin? one of the best in ring wrestler of his age and who had the same realism about him that Bret had? That Vince still tried to deny for almost two years?

Rollins- Rollins isn't a small guy. He's a legit 6'1 and probably weighs 220. Plus he's ridiculously strong, stronger than Reigns easily, and has is fantastic in the ring.

None of these guys are seen as "Vince type guys" yet they all spent a lot of time in his main event scene (well except Miz)

I don't know why hardcore fans still believe in this only Reigns/Cena/Batista types can succeed when that is clearly not true.

Yeah Vince Denied Punk so hard he had a 434 WWE title reign not to mention multipe World title reigns before the "Summer of Punk" but yeah lets ignore that. Plus if that was Cena no one would have cared if he main evented 0 PPVs because 434 days is 434 days and thats a long push.

Vince held Bryan back so much he made him one of the biggest focal points of the show from Summer 2013 to he left with injury. He held him down so much he let him wall out of Mania 30 going over Evolution on one night. Held him down so much he's won every title in the company.

Bret and Michaels became the guys after the big guys failed (Luger and Diesel).

Y2J's tittle win was booked like he got lucky. Literally got his ass kicked and won by a hair split. Put over HHH right after then didn't get over or become a top guy until his suit gimmick.

Eddie always talked about how the brass overlooked him. It was until his quarter hours were apparently very solid and he proved he could draw. Only won the belt once and Jericho talks about on his podcast that Orton was suppose to get the belt after him.

Benoit - Apparently he supported HHH and Steph's relationship and this was a thank you to him. He then went back to the midcard and ECW (the C show).

Rey - Lost every match as a champ and it was done to capitalize on Eddie's death.

Punk - Listen to his pipe bomb, was always second to Cena and was suppose to trade belts with Bryan but they had to keep him strong for Rocky and Cena. Not to mention when he was at his hottest they stuck him with HHH.

Bryan - Won the Money in the Bank briefcase because they didn't want two heels to win it. Was not at the arena and they had to bring him in for the cash in. Was suppose to be a comedy champion, you know the little guy that has a big mouth going against the giants that can squash him? Yeah, he was also suppose to drop the belt to Sheamus in 18 seconds... The reason he beat Cena is because Cena insisted he wanted to drop the belt to Bryan. They figured they would use him to get heat on Randy until the conquering babyface Batista would come to the rescue and beat Orton... Also he won at Mania but was suppose to get squashed by Brock so that the conquering Babyface, Reigns, would come to the rescue.

Rollins - Maybe they like him? However, it was suppose to be Reigns' night until the pesky fans kept booing him and they had to improvise. He was going to drop the belt to Reigns or Sheamus this month.

So, none of those guys where chosen. They were a byproduct of circumstance. Vince has always chosen big muscular guys like Hogan, Luger, Diesel, Rocky, HHH, Batista, Orton, Sheamus and Reigns. Rumor is he didn't choose Austin or Cena.

I look at it the same way he views minority wrestlers.

You can be a great wrestler but you need to do something to stand out.

Booker T, Eddie, Bobby Lashley, Rey Mysterio, they all stood out compared to being a generic african american/hispanic wrestler hence their pushes.

This is something that was very much true in the 80's that has just carried over into the new generation. The steroid scandal forced him to open up to ideas that he likely wouldn't have without it. I do think that Vince will always prefer that his main event is made up of bigger guys, but he does bend on it now.

Silly thread title. The perception is not that Vince hates smaller wrestlers. It is that he prefers to have the larger guys working the main event.

It's not a myth.

Certain smaller talents have indeed played prominent roles for Vince and WWE, however, size will always be a factor in determining who they give opportunities to.

It's not even necessarily flawed thinking. The belt is the Heavyweight championship. The flaws arise when guys get pushed solely because of their size or look. They still need to be a package deal.

Vince has always been a body guy. I would of thought the whole WBF was a clear indicator that he wants to be fucking Mr. Olympia. 'Smaller' guys have gotten pushes (although I wouldn't call Bret, Shawn, Jericho etc.) small, but usually after or once the bigger guys have had theirs. Look at some of the names he was pushing into the main event scene in the early to mid 90s. Warrior, Sid, Luger, Diesel, among others. If given the chance, he WILL push the mastodons he has such a blatant hard-on for first.

Yea you can look at the last few years and see just how much that little myth is bullshit. They killed Drew McIntyre's push and released him, Big E floundered from his debut until the New Day took off, they released Mason Ryan, royally fucked up Ryback's push with the Hell in a Cell match, haven't done shit with Luke Harper or Cesaro and really the list just goes on and on.

While Daniel Bryan main evented WrestleMania 30 and beat HHH, Randy Orton & Batista in one night, CM Punk had a record breaking title reign and Seth Rollins got more TV time than anyone in the company over the past year.

Bryan main-eventing Wrestlemania was never originally planned. Bryan confirmed he was due for a match with Sheamus but that was scrapped. The fans forced Vince's hand and we got a better 'Mania for it I.E. one that didn't have Batista vs Orton main-eventing and having garbage thrown at them.

Punk DID have a record breaking title reign, but his matches were an afterthought. Cena vs Laurinaitis main evented a show he was on. Twice! Then there came a point where they had to build the title for Rock at the Rumble, roughly around NoC, so for roughly 3/4 of his title reign he was playing second banana to whoever was main eventing on the PPV.

Seth Rollins isn't even small. He's over 6'1 and muscular in build as well as being legitimately strong. That said, he was still booked like a wuss, for the most part.

half of the wrestlers you name won't be Champion if WWE never did Spit Brand, Chris Jericho became 4-5 time world champion during Brand Spit.

But by wrestling standards, or more specifically WWE standards they are small guys.

Look at Hogan who had a massive part in helping create Vince's company next to them.

The WWE roster has 97 people, according to WWE.com. Lets subtract 20 for women, announcers, and legit midgets (Torito/Horn).

77 Dudes. Nevermind the NXT pile of 80+ people in training/performing.

This time last year, WWE had a similarly sized, but different roster.
Same the year before.
Same the year before.
Same the year before.

In the Raw vs Smackdown years, the roster was even bigger than ~100.

If you're going back to Bret Hart, we're talking 17+ years and likely 1000+ guys.

There's been lots of guys to get a big push. Lots of guys to hold belts.

Small guys got what - 10 successes by your estimate?

1% of WWE wrestlers make it to the top as small dudes and most had huge fan support pushing them forward.

What do you think the percentage is for guys that give Vince a boner?
