I'm kind of over the chants. And this is from an old school ECW arena guy. At this point, people are just chanting shit to hear themselves most of the time.
I get the atmosphere of being live can draw you in, and I understand completely that something can feel greater 'in the moment', but it does seem like the crowd has been primed to chant it lately. They're ready to drop it after a nice little sequence rather than for an entire build to a big finish.
So yeah, I don't enjoy them. I understand them, but I can't get behind them chanting "This is awesome" for 3 matches running when none are really anything but above average.
I fucking hate it to the death. The fans chant it everytime a high spots happens. The match can be boring as fuck, but if that happens, they chant "DIS IZ ASOM". When was the last time the fans chanted "This is Awesome" and It meant something? Maybe Shield/Wyatts at EC last year?
I wouldn't be surprised if WWE plants 10 or so people in the crowd each week to get it going. It seems to be chanted in every fucking segment these days and it's lost all meaning.
I don't see the problem. Fans are allowed to chant whatever they want (with in reason) right? Surely fans should be allowed to voice the opinion that they like what they saw right?
In the WWE world it really means nothing. I went to an ROH tv taping last Friday and shit got so awesome you had no choice but to chant for how awesome it was.
So it's all in context. It's really more of an Indy chant because rarely anything in the WWE truly is awesome right now.
I like it, it shows appreciation for the product IMO.
