NXT Womens Title Prestige

So I was chatting to a friend earlier and came to the conclusion that because of the booking, match quality and star power the NXT Womens Championship is probably the most legit title in the WWE at the moment.

Obvious not due to historical importance, but just at this current time. I cant think of a single champion in the short history of the title who has been booked badly, everyone who has held it has deserved it.

Plus every title defence has felt huge, and delivered. There's been no hot shotting that I can think of either which has helped.

Anyone else feel that way currently? Will be interesting to see if they can maintain it without SB, BL and CF.

Unlike any champion in WWE, the women who are champions are booked strong. Paige, Charlotte, Sasha, and Bayley have all been booked strong when they were the champions. They didn't lose meaningless non title matches. So it mean't something when they defended their belts because it would means something if you beat them.

Plus, all 4 women in one way or another were strong characters. They didn't need the championship to validate them. They validated themselves. That only makes the championship look bigger.

If you didn't know anything about WWE and just saw the build and matches for each title then you could easily be confused into thinking so. Between that and the NXT Championship but I think Finns reign has brought the mens down a bit whereas Sasha and Bayley have elevated the womens even higher.

I've felt this way since May. Seth's constant jobbing ruined the World Title in record time, putting the US title above it by default. The IC title has been a joke for the last decade, the Tag titles are whatever, and don't even get me started on the Divas title. At this moment in time, due to Balor's shitty title reign, the NXT Women's Championship IS the most prestigious title on the show, and quite possibly the company. It's not even one specific person who's held it to that standard; it's Charlotte, Sasha, AND Bayley since the Takeover specials became a thing. They've taken the women's division to the next level, and it's unfortunate that they're effectively getting DEmoted with a payraise on the main roster.

Completely agree. Every match for that title recently has been great, the fatal 4 way, Sasha v Becky, Sasha v Bayley I and II, they've just felt right. Becky was really legitimized as a competitor after her match, and Bayley showed a different style, especially in the ironman match. Sasha v Bayley is also one of the few feuds i've been really into this year.

Unfortunately it just doesn't translate to the main roster.

As for whether it can carry on, i'm not totally sure, it could go either way. Bayley is champ, rightfully so, Emma is a solid competitor, Dana isn't great but is getting better, Asuka is superb in the ring and we still have Nia Jax to come (no idea how good she is at this point). Keeping my fingers crossed as that division has been one of the best things about the WWE recently.

Well, the NXT Women's Championship IS the most important/prestigious title in the company right now, yeah I said company. It's definitely more important than all the main roster titles, and the NXT ones. Just think about who held the title, Charlotte, Sasha and now Bayley had some of the best matches and stories of the company since last year, whereas the WWEWHC is nothing more than a mid-card title, thus making the US title more important. The IC title means absolutely nothing to the point I loathe the belt so much that I just want them to retire it, no matter how long it's been in the company, Divas Title is pure shit and the Tag Champs are just there. The NXT Championship has lost steam, something needs to be done about that.

I love how the majority of people are forgetting about Paige when talking about the NXT Women's Championship! And there's only been 4 champions so far. Ha impact...

I agree I really feel that the champions being booked strong has really helped aswell. I've never understood having the champion lose constantly. Probably why I didn't mind Lesnar's run as champ. The title matches felt more important a not only is he a bigger star than basically the entire roster, but he was booked strong.

I'd love to have a conversation with HHH about the relative booking of the titles, to try and understand why the main roster booking is so incredibly poor.

They should just reset the womens division on the main roster. Get rid of that stupid belt and scrap the word "Diva" from the company. Maybe make Smackdown a womens only show or something (as its worthless in its current format) and use the NXT bookers.
