Cena is being fed any upcoming new talent. I don't get the logic behind this by Vince. It is really dumb.

I can't recall anyone from Attitude Era given the similar role. Usually in AE, guys like Undertaker, HHH, Rock, Stone Cold would put over guys like Brock, Batista, Jericho.

I just don't get this stupid lame logic of Cena not putting over anyone. He's literally being asked to destroy whatever stock a new comer has gained. Wyatt, Owens, Cesaro, Rusev, Rollins, Ziggler, Ryback. They all have been fed to Cow Cash Cena. What's the logic behind this, I really don't get it. Vince thinks it will sell more merchandise. Then why are there reports of bringing back the Dr of Thuganamics. Cena's stock is falling. The 10 years old are now 15 years old who loved him so much in 2010. Especially boys are starting to get bored by his gimmick.

No. Hunter never played Cena's role. He put over a lot stars. Batista, Orton, Jericho, Beniot had some great runs with the game and it helped their stock to rise even more. Hunter was the ATG heel. Cena is a stupid face who gets the Hogan gimmick and gets the last say in every feud.

In the AE, they found it fruitful (for some unbeknownst reason) to push more than two fucking people at a time. This was in a time when they only had two hours as well!

In AE Cenas character would have never gotten over as a face. Angle had a similar character initially as the Olympic Hero but he mastered it as a great comedy heel in AE. In A.E the big stars all beat each other all got rubs off each other. And developed each others character. In WWE nowadays that isnt the case Cena always has the final word in every feud. With this lame modern Hulk Hogan character always overcoming the odds. When everyone knows that is b.s and just fake. People dont want these perfect flawless superheroes anymore. They want flawed heroes who they can see a bit of themselves in. Not someone put up on a pedestal.

In Attitude, they were building new stars to compete with WCW. Because if they didn't....they were bankrupt. Nowadays, there's no one to compete with, so they don't give a shit about building stars. And now that they are at that point where the audience is moving on from them, they're suddenly realizing that in 10 years they've built NOTHING. So Cena is getting overbooked in response, since he's their only reliable draw. People always assumed if Vince wanted to make a star, he'd make a star overnight whenever. But nowadays, that star = Roman Reigns. It's not so simple anymore when you're trying to sell to a PG audience, but a large portion of your hardcore audience (and loudest) are all teens/20s.

But yes, this kind of booking/ideology DID exist during Attitude. It just existed in WCW, not WWE. WCW was busy riding and dying with a bunch of over the hill stars because they were 'proven draws' and meanwhile, WWE took guys from their roster who they deemed too small or not charismatic enough, and implemented them into key roles within their own program. It wasn't so much that WCW was 'feeding' new guys to the older guys, they did do that too, but it was more so the way that no one other than over the hill crap was allowed to look like stars. And that's kind of where WWE is right now.

It also helped back then that WWE's roster was 10 times more talented than today's. There were guys/girls who simply wouldn't be denied from being pushed. Nowadays, there isn't that kind of can't-miss talent there.

The Rock never started as a face. In fact he was forced to turn face because everyone loved his gimmick. Cena is a complete opposite, everyone hated his face run. Then he turned heel, people were interested in him and then he turned lame face

Not difficult when the WWF champion rarely competed outside of Saturday Night Main Event and 4 PPVs a year like Hogan. Cena however has rarely missed an episode of Raw in a decade!!! Barring a couple of injuries of course. Throw in the Smackdown Appearances, and such and its hardly surprising at all!!!

As far as characters go, the closest was 2000 Kurt Angle.

A goodie tooshoos suck up that the fans hated? Yeah, that's Cena through and through.

The difference is that Angle was ironic. It was part of their shades of grey thing with the Attitude Era where the traditional good guy was really the bad guy. Cena, they actually do intend for us to like him.

Kurt was an original Champion heel. You knew you had to boooo the fuck out of him every time his mouth opened. Had he wasn't the ATG in wrestling, I think he would have been buried in his first year.

Not that I know of, midcarders and other talent even had some moments where they could be shown on TV or have a few matches.
