I wonder how often WWE does focus groups with non-fans. I imagine it would be helpful in figuring out what's working or not working. It's interesting how non-fans react to things.
My daughter has only seen a handful of matches. She's seen the opening match on a few PPVS from this year (her bedtime is 9pm), I've shown her a couple NXT Takeover women's matches, and she watched the first hour of the MSG show with me. Not a lot of exposure to the product.
I figured I'd post a few of her observations and would like to hear the observations you guys have heard from non-fans or your kids.
MSG - My Daughter
(1) Referring to Sheamus. "Does he wrestle on all of the shows?"
***Keep in mind she usually sees the first match or two on a PPV***
(2) Referring to Ziggler. "He hurts his back every time he does something. maybe he shouldn't be wrestling." That's a 9 year old noticing his overselling.
(3) Referring to "PCB" early in the match / before the obvious infighting over tags. "They're really mean to each other. They must be the bad guys" (she thought the Bellas were the 'nice' ones)
(4) Referring to Stardust trying on Neville's cape. "That looks silly on him. It looks silly on him too (Neville)."
From a fresh set of eyes:
Cards are predictable and repetitive.
Ziggler obviously and blatantly oversells.
Faces act like heels and vice versa.
The cape thing is silly to even a kid.
These are nothing we haven't said online, but there's no "jaded IWC" excuse. It's a fresh set of eyes reacting to the product. WWE should get more of that.
