Vince McMahon was responsible for all of the creative at Saturday night's live WWE Network special from Madison Square Garden.
With all the talk of Triple H taking over things backstage, Vince is still very much the man in charge and all ideas or decisions still go through him. PWInsider notes that lately when new ideas are brought up, the response is something along the lines of "we'll have to check with Vince" or "see if Vince likes it."
As the WWE TV ratings slip, Vince is apparently micro-managing creative and overseeing all aspects of the company more than usual.
'Hey, let's try and keep things fresh. Let's alter the format somewhat, ease up with the repetitive matches, and stop booking the champions to lose in endless non-title matches'
Nobody on here can do his job, NOBODY. Yeah sure Vince is out of touch, he's been out of touch since 1993, big deal. I wouldn't say that he is a creative genius per sec because of how big that company is, they need a creative team which is one of many people. Vince had help throughout his entire run and everybody that says otherwise is blind. No booker or promoter has ever done it back themselves. They have all had help along the way one way or another. It's going to take more than fantasy booking by fans online to get the E back on track.
So instead of changing his ways and stopping doing everything his way, as it obviously hasn't been working, he thinks the bad ratings are because he wasn't in control enough?
I don't like saying stuff like this, but CM Punk was right; this company might get better only after Vince McMahon is dead.

Lmao. I know how you feel. I went from watching both Raw and Smackdown to only watching Raw to only watching parts of Raw to only watching Payperviews and even now I skip a bunch of shit when I watch payperviews. Soon, I'll probably be dropping this shit all together if I don't see things changing. It's like we'll get small teases in changes in the product, but ultimately it just goes back to the same old shit.
You just get this picture of Vince on board a cruise ship. It has a thousand leaks, and all Vince has are the fingers on his hands and a bucket that's missing its bottom, after having rusted through over many years.
But everything's going to be ok. Everything's going to be fine.
Vince needs to step away from creatve, and keep HHH and Stephanie away too.
He needs to get someone who knows booking and put them in charge of creative, and give him a team that can write good angles.
A completely new creative team.
If it was up tome, I would go with Heyman, and let him pick his team, and if not Heyman, then someene else ho has a great reputation as a booker. Perhaps Gabe Sapolsky, though Heyman would probably bring him in anyway. And I would bring in a non-wrestling writer, like they did with Chris Kreski.
Vince has always sucked creatively. It's not like he's just lost his magic recently, as you can't lose something you never fucking had in the first place.
Vision was something he had, but it's other talented people who made those ideas a reality and made them work.
Like, it's unbelievable how he's done as well as he has when you give this shit some thought. It just shouldn't have been possible. He's been an out-of-touch bastard since forever.
A bold vision + talented peasants to bring it to life = you'll go fucking far.
The way to boost ratings secretly without overtly looking like you are is they could appear to leave things as is.
But you start noticing shocking moments
The first could be the curb stomp returns.
Next could be a unscripted promos start occasionally slipping in
Then allow a couple banned moves back as special moments for vacation spots.
Like sit out piledrive Cena for his upcoming vacation.
Break up all the 6 man tags and women factions
But do it slowly and gradually that way word of mouth spreads, social media buzz spreads
Then after football season is over, don't advertise it but at the opening of first Raw after football season ends, have the TV-PG logo in top left slowly get animated scratched out and TV-14 appears. But commentary don't mention it.
That would be a sweet slow gradual burn to bring in a new era. Drop divas and have Women's champ and Women's tag team and Women's money in bank
Focus on wrestling and a more adult attitude to fights and feuds. So the anger, revenge, wrath feels more believable.
This way the characters like Wyatt would really shine without the pg restrictions, he could get disturbingly creepy like Jim Jones type creepy
You'd still need to mix this in with advertised ratings-boosters like Rocky or Austin because if they do a slow gradual burn, even if it's good, nobody is going to see it.
Edit: A DB sppearance here and there wouldn't be too bad either. Although not on legendary level, he was definitely boosting Smackdown's ratings earlier in the year, would be interesting to see if an advertised DB apearance has an effect on ratings now.
Depending on his focus and desperation level, along with how much he has left in the tank, this will either work well or spectacularly fail, there will be no middle ground.
Vince is probably the greatest promoter ever but that doesn't make him a good booker. Whenever WWE has been at it's best there has been somebody with Vince, he can't do it on his own.
Seahawks playing tonight, good luck with that, Vince. Hard to take this report seriously, as MSG was simply a regurgitation of the last few weeks aside from Show/Lesnar and Owens/Jericho. I don't expect much else tonight, tbh.
