Wrestling legend Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka is being charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter for the death of his girlfriend more than 32 years ago following an assault in an Allentown area motel, Lehigh County authorities said.

The charges will be announced at a news conference this afternoon.

Snuka, 72, was arrested this morning at his New Jersey home and arraigned at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday from the Lehigh County Central Booking Center. He was sent to county jail under $100,000 bail.
Snuka was just removed from the HOF 2 hours ago: http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news...fly-jimmy-snuka-from-hall-of-fame-section-on/

WWE has removed WWE Hall of Famer "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka's profile from their official website after Snuka was charged on Monday with involuntary manslaughter and third-degree murder for the 1983 death of Nancy Argentino. His profile has also been removed from the site's Hall of Fame section.
Snuka is only the second WWE performer to have their profile removed from the company's Hall of Fame section on the site. Hulk Hogan was removed this past July after racist comments that he made years ago surfaced online. Unlike Hogan, as of this writing, Snuka hasn't been completely scrubbed from the site and you can still find Snuka related news items and videos.

While Snuka and Hogan have been removed from the Hall of Fame section on WWE.com, WWE has yet to to officially announce that either Superstar has officially been taken out of the actual Hall of Fame.

Re: jimmy Snuka charged with girlfriend's death

Justice delayed isn't always denied. From all that I've read about this case, he killed this woman and Vince helped him avoid charges being pressed. I don't care if he's lived the last 32 years of his life as a saint. If he murdered someone, he needs to be held accountable for that woman's death. That's 32 years she didn't get.

Pretty amazing how trolls like Loudon Wainwright are allowed to basically type whatever they want.
It's not a popular opinion to have, but I sort of side with what London's trying to say. Circumstance, age, time, I think it's fair to consider all of these things when it comes to vilifying and, in this case, incarcerating a person. I have a very liberal opinion on crime and prisons, so I try not to get involved in these kind of discussions because i know of how wild they come off, but I personally don't get any pleasure and I don't think society improves by putting a eldery man into prison for a 3rd degree murder charge 30 years later.

Welp, this is one situation where I'm glad the government got sometihing right and send these scumbags to jail for the rest of their lives. I don't care how old a person is. Murder is murder. You murder someone, you go to prison and pay with the rest of your life, no matter how much of that life is left. Fair is fair.

This woman didn't get the chance to live to 72 years. Snuka killed her. Who cares about his convenience or that he's old? He took a woman's youth and she never saw old age. If he didn't try to end run the law years ago, he would've paid his debt to society by now. I don't feel sorry that he'll be in prison rather Shady Pines. Or maybe cancer will take him.

Lmao. Defending Jimmy Snuka?

Wrestling Forum strikes again :lol

ANYTHING to preserve your childhood romanticism of television characters right? Guess what: people do bad things. Even the ones on tv. Ya twerps.

And who cares about how long it's been? Who cares about how old he is? That's thirty years his victim could have had on this wonderful earth.

Lmao. Defending Jimmy Snuka?

It's really pathetic.

Some people's logic is that if a wrestler does, is accused of doing or is proven to have done something fucked up, we have to defend him because he's a wrestler, for crying out loud.

But God forbid they refuse to put over your favorite wrestler, they're the biggest piece of shit in the world and they deserve to die.

Only here is it cool to wish death on John Cena for not putting people over but let's give a pass to Snuka even though he allegedly killed a woman. Because, yeah, the former is a helluva lot worse than the latter.

Threads like this prove how caught up in the wrestling bubble some people can be.

I laugh at how pathetic it is but it's quite said.

Re: Jimmy Snuka charged with girlfriend's death

Have not been on this site in years I'm willing to say no one on here knows me but I'll bring the hammer and drop the mic here. The Snuka case as always intrigued me. Here's my thoughts on it as well as a few insider pieces for you guys (note, I posted this on a different site and will just copy and paste it here).

THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG POST

Here are the facts as I know to be true.

Snuka was the one who called the police after returning from a show to "find" his girlfriend non-responsive. He gave the police a statement as well as numerous others and none of his stories were the same. He initially told the police that all he knew was that before he left for his match, she had fallen and hit her head and then she went to bed. One of his other stories was that earlier in the day, they got into an argument and he pushed her at a truck stop/rest area and she hit her head.

Regardless, the whole "Snuka played the part of a savage who didn't speak English" was partially false due to what I just stated above but as always, there is a smidgeon of truth there.

I believe it was almost a month later, the DA, police, and the coroner called Snuka in to meet with them at the DA's office and Vince, on his own accord, went in with Snuka with a briefcase and did all the talking. Vince told Snuka to just be quiet and let Vince talk. So that is there the legend of "Vince talked to the cops while Snuka acted like a savage who couldn't speak English" came from. Of course it was roughly 2 months after her death that Snuka performed his first famous flying leap onto then WWE champ Bob Backlund in June of '83. His more famous leap happened in October of '83 when he leaped off the cage onto Don Muraco.

Anyhow, after that meeting, the case went cold and nothing came out of it although the court did award his dead girlfriend's family with $500,000 in a wrongful death suit which Snuka never paid because he was able to prove he had no money as he was let go by the WWE already and owed nearly $100,000 in back taxed.

.Snuka is screwed and I'm willing to wager that he will be found guilty of at least a manslaughter charge as I doubt they'll stick with the 3rd degree murder charge along with involuntary manslaughter. Of course, Snuka could work out a plea deal but he's going down for sure because the evidence is overwhelming not to mention the fact that his ex-wife has come forward and told the authorities a different story about what happened to his girlfriend, Nancy, the night that she died. That part has yet to be released to the public and just as damning is the late Buddy Roger's wife also stated that Snuka was a violent man who beat Nancy and his own wife numerous times.

Here's a few things for those of you interested in order. Snuka went to the hospital just past midnight on May 11th. He told the police and nursing staff a few different stories, NONE OF WHICH INVOLVED HER FALLING DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I highlighted in yellow his contradicting story and getting called on it by the investigating officer.

At 9:00am May 11th, about 7.5 hours after Nancy Argentino was pronounced dead at the hospital, the police came to officially interview Snuka. Snuka told the police that she fell on the side of the road while she was peeing and was basically out of it, groggy the whole time he drove to the hotel. He told the investigating officer that she basically slept the entire day and into the early evening before he realized she may not be breathing. (Look at link 1)

Of course the officer then tells Snuka that hours earlier, Snuka told other officers as well as the hospital staff that they shoved each other and she bumped her head. He initially denies it and then says yes they did have a little shoving match but that was after Nancy already fell on the side of the road and bumped her head. (link 2-3)

As I mentioned before, unlike alot of stuff that gets passed around, everything I have said is not hearsay or wrestling gossip but factual evidence. Have a looksee if you are interested in reading part of the original police interview

Here's a bit more for you. All 7 different accounts by Snuka within 48 hours of Argentino's death

Not to defend Snuka because I don't really give a shit about him but what has people convinced it was a murder and not manslaughter? I don't know a lot of details of the case but everyone here seems not only convinced of his guilt but of his intent to kill.

IF they got into it and he pushed her and she hit her head he would own a certain amount of culpability but that wouldn't make him a monster, would it?
Read what I quoted and posted earlier Jerigoat.

Re: jimmy Snuka charged with girlfriend's death

He's 72 for fuck's sake. Leave the poor fellow alone. Even if he did kill his girlfriend, it happened 32 years ago and there's no indication he's done anything of the sort since. Dude is an old man and shouldn't be going to prison for a crime he committed decades ago.

Edit: I stopped posting in this thread to avoid derailing it further. If you take issue with my stance, please stop quoting me and let the issue lie. I'm more than willing to discuss my viewpoints via pm if you're so inclined.

Re: jimmy Snuka charged with girlfriend's death

Yes, this is old news for longtime wrestling fans. This is a story that goes back right along with Scott Hall's self-defense killing, and the murder of Brusier Brody. Damn shame Colon and Gonzalez never answered for their crimes. I am mostly shocked he was finally arrested and officially charged. Prosecutors must have something solid to have finally pulled the trigger. If Snuka was in fact involved, he should have answered for her death years ago.

Re: jimmy Snuka charged with girlfriend's death

It's a shame it took this long but Justice has been served or it will. Part of me feels sorry for Tamina and family since he is an old man but they should be happy they spent decades with Jimmy. The family of the woman he allegedly murdered has had to live without her and will live without her because of Snuka.

I hope justice is served before Snuka succumbs to his poor health. I saw him recently at a local show and he looked awful.

Also, Tamina should not be released over this, y'all. She's got nothing to do with this, they may stop randomly calling her "Tamina Snuka" like they do, but she shouldn't be punished for her father's actions 32 years ago. Sure, breaking up team BAD would be good, but c'mon, this is not the time for that.

Re: WWE removed SNUKA from the HALL

The evidence is pretty overwhelming against him. I'm not one to defend the WWE for removing/firing someone over every politically correct tiny infraction, I've spoken out against it many times, but they're supposed to just stand by and defend a murderer as a public company?

I'd highly recommend reading the 32-page grand jury presentment (PDF here: http://muchnick.net/snukagrandjurypresentment.pdf), specifically on page 11 of the PDF which is the uncovered original 1983 autopsy report, which was buried away from the public for decades.

Between the drastic changes to Snuka's story that he told police and doctors, the inconsistencies in the injuries in the autopsy report to his account of how she injured herself, the other cases of domestic abuse (he had previously beaten Argentino prior to her death and he beat his then wife Sharon Georgi just a few months after the murder in Oct. 1983) - it's shocking that this has taken 30 years to lay formal charges.

Peter Bronstad, a former Captain in the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department testified about the Syracuse incident at the Howard Johnson Motor Lodge.

He testified that they had received a call at 1:40 a.m. by a clerk working the front desk that a guy was dragging a naked female down the hallway. Two officers arrived and he said they saw Snuka dragging a naked Argentino, who was covered by a blanket, down the hallway by the hair. She was screaming that she wanted to get away. He said the officers reported Snuka dragged her by the hair into their room, and she was yelling and crying for Snuka to let her go while he yelled at the deputies to go away. The deputies, seeing the size of Snuka, called for backup.

Bronstad was part of the backup, with several more deputies and a canine unit. They attempted to get Snuka to open the door. When he didn’t Bronstad said he ordered the deputies to take down the door and arrest Snuka since Argentino was still crying for help. After a struggle with a number of officers and police dogs, they arrested Snuka and handcuffed him while Argentino was in the corner of the room, crying in pain.

It took eight deputies and two dogs to get Snuka under control. He was taken in and booked on charges of obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest and counts of assault related to both Argentino and the deputies. Argentino was hospitalized at that point with injuries to her head, back and scalp from being dragged by the hair. Snuka plea bargained down to reduced charges and paid a fine that was donated to charity, and apologized.

When you have a doctor perform an autopsy and they recommend the case be treated as a homicide, how is that simply ignored under such suspicious circumstances? Even if Snuka were found innocent in a trial, the point is that it should have gone to trial back in 1983. Aside from Snuka's innocence or guilt, there needs to be a serious look at the then District Attorney who is now a senior judge (see below).

Where I would like to turn the public’s attention next is to remaining questions that the grand jury artfully dodged: What is the accountability of local public officials, including some of the very ones participating in Tuesday’s press conference to explain the presentment of the charges?

DA Martin’s predecessor in 1983, William Platt, is now a senior judge. Snuka’s autobiography goes to the trouble of highlighting that Vince McMahon carried a briefcase into a climactic meeting with Platt and others. They decided not to prosecute. Yet they never officially closed the case, either -- which meant that the records of their “open police investigation”could remain sealed from the prying eyes of, first, me in 1992 and, then, the Allentown Morning Call’s Adam Clark and Kevin Amerman on the 30th anniversary in 2013.
- Irwin Mushnick
If you haven't read the Morning Call's story from 2013 which brought light back on this case is a must-read: http://www.mcall.com/news/local/mc-jimmy-snuka-cold-case-20130608-story.html
