Bully Ray was awesome and he did a good job with that gimmick and got away from the stale Dudley boyz act its such a shame he had to return to WWE as Bubba Ray and not the awesome Bully Ray cause Bully Ray was a great Heel and one of the few good things about TNA.
Bubba Ray coming back as something other than Dudley Boys would have been weird. It's like when they tried to bring back Albert as "Tensai" - fans knew him as Albert and so it was weird to see him as anything else.
It doesn't mean Bubba can't still pull off the "Bully Ray" character. He just has to create him in WWE.
1. Have a nice run as the Dudleys. If it works out and he is over...
2. Turn on Dvon (or on some bigger face) and morph into this character on WWE Tv.
I agree totally. He has to create the character in the WWE through the current character that the fans have known. Once that is established he can then do his thing. Honestly, I think he could be a special kind of star if given the right push. He would make a great heel at the top of the card. He would actually be the perfect nemesis for Cena.
I agree. The man was able graduate from a successful tag team to successful solo wrestler. It's hard to do. But oh well, nostalgia is better than everything else apparently and Vince probably doesn't want to acknowledge one of the better things that came out of TNA.
Character wise , it is a step backward. Career wise, it's a great financial move for him plus he is far better known as a Dudley and the two of them get one last run together. I would love to see him as a singles heel, but the Dudleyz back in WWE feels right, at this moment in time.
We really complaining about Bubba not coming back as a main event gimmick at 44?
If he came back as Bully Ray and was pushed the way people wanted, they'd complain a 44 year old is in the main event. :kobe
If WWE gave him a fair chance as Bully Ray he would be their top heel hands down Bully could get heat he was a natural heel and like I said one of the few things TNA did right.
It makes sense for them to be the big dogs in a weaker tag team division. Bully Ray the character would just get lost in the shuffle, and honestly I feel like that character if it were done now would be too close to Kevin Owens.
Besides, maybe he actually does want to do the Dudley thing for another run. He and Devon sure seemed to enjoy coming back to it on Raw.
Most people don't watch tna anymore. Neither do i, but I agree whole 100 percent. Bully ray was the heel of the year when he was really going. He was in better shape and cut amazing promos. I get the dudleys are one of the last pieces left of the attitude era, but nostalgia is gonna wear off in a few weeks and they're just gonna be another team doing jack shit in the tag team division. They could've found a way to incorporate devon and let Bubba be bully.
Nah, while I enjoyed some of his work in TNA, as a package The Dudley Boyz are much more marketable and being associated with that legacy is an easier sell to the fans both old and new. Not to mention The Dudleys can do much better work/investment in the tag team division and give The New Day a popular foil since the Usos are out.
I prefer him as Bubba Ray mainly because the tag division needs serious strengthening and the Dudley Boyz provide that. Plus, I hardly ever watch TNA. I've seen him as Bully Ray a few times, but not much. The character doesn't mean a lot to me.
Bully spoke on how Vince dumbed down the Dudleys on Jericho's Podcast and how he hated that shit. But Vince owns the Dudleys name as a team and all that so why not come back on a nostalgia trip
Bully Bubba batman whatever....as a singles performer the guy is/was one of the worst in-ring workers in the business. He was just plain awful. Ofcourse he had a good mic skills but so does R Truth when it comes down to it. His character wasn't anything unique either, just plain old "I'm a bad guy now, BOO ME!" stuff. Aces & 8s was a failure.
A character named Bully Ray would never fly in the WWE.
