Stone Cold Steve Austin hits back at disappointed WWE fan - Paige replacing Hogan on podcast after Raw?

Ok, just did a search on the forum to see if I could find this but can't see anything here, however Stone Cold hit back at a fan in regards to them saying Paige isn't interesting enough, which from what I can gather was going to be Hogan as the guest after Raw next Monday.

As much as I love Paige, I can understand how people will feel as although Paige may have had this journey before WWE and is quite out spoken, what really can she say that would be so interesting on the podcast ... I guess we've to keep an open mind about that as we don't know but obviously her being new under the WWE wing, she's going to be pretty company driven and pleasing anyway, she has to be.

So what are your thoughts in regards to this, I see more of a story in regards to the Hogan/Paige replacement thing than I do the fan specifically, which Stone Cold is obviously going to defend while he's doing this for the WWE anyway, even if he agreed ... however here is the article.

WWE announced during last night's edition of Monday Night Raw that Steve Austin will be hosting his podcast with Paige as his guest next week.

Although for many having a WWE Diva on as the interviewee is the right decision at this time given the rise of the NXT female wrestlers of late, the news has not pleased every follower of WWE.

DISAPPOINTED FAN

One particular member of the WWE Universe took to Twitter to express his disappointment at the booking, as E Wrestling News first reported.

The Texas Rattlesnake was clearly, and understandably, angered by this remark, as he responded to the Tweet with his own reply.

The news of Paige being invited onto the show has sparked rumours that the original intended guest was Hulk Hogan but, due to his departure from the company amidst a racism row, he had to be replaced.

It is disappointing to learn that certain followers of WWE feel Paige is yet to prove herself as worthy of or interesting enough to be considered as a guest for an interview with Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Since making her debut in WWE she has become one of the most-popular Divas on the main roster. Paige has succeeded in many ways as achieving what many other female WWE superstars could not, not least in the way she was able to make the WrestleMania card in her first year of being at the top level.

ORIGINAL PLAN

As What Culture have reported however, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer explained that Hulk Hogan was originally planned to be the guest on the WWE Network podcast after Raw next Monday night.

As Paige is, like Hogan was, a Tough Enough judge, it is understood that she could well have been chosen as the replacement in order to still promote WWE's reality TV show as intended.

Although Paige will no doubt have some highly interesting discussion topics and is often known for being one to speak her mind, it is a big change from what the podcast could have been like if Hogan were on it.

With the history Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin have, the chat would doubtlessly have made for incredible listening, but, as with many things of late, the decision to remove Hogan appears to have been the right one.

Yeah, I think people might feel though what can she say other than what we already know, there has been a whole documentary on that where as Hogan obviously has a huge history with the business.

The podcast lasts for about an hour or something, so I can understand where people are coming from, the diva's revolution thing is interesting, but can only be spoken about for 10 mins or so within the podcast.

Again, I think it's about keeping an open mind cause we don't know, and comparing it to Hogan is a bit unfair, I think it's just the choice of guest people may be disappointed in, a few diva's could be chosen to talk about the diva's revolution, so I do get it.

I look forward to it though cause I love Paige, I just wouldn't really dismiss people's vibes from the other side of the coin cause I can understand where they're coming from, what more can Paige say other than her family, which has already been documented, tough enough and diva's revolution, the rest is going to be company pleasing for example, what's it like working for HHH, Vince etc.. she hasn't had her full experience of her career with that yet and is new to the company still.

Hell the way :vince & company have insulted & failed attemps to try and force the fans what they want. Well honestly moderen day wwe universe members have been jobning for a LONG time.

Glad the E's the only sports entertaiment game in town b/c I prefer prowrestling & mma instead.

To be fair, as someone has already said in this thread... we've had a documentary, Tough Enough AND Total Divas reality shows, NXT and overexposure on the main roster to learn an awful lot about Paige in a relatively short period of time. Let her do her stuff and reflect on her work as someone who was a lead player in instigating a new breed of female wrestler - in 3 years time when she's actually achieved something, instead of after shitty boring feuds with AJ Lee and Nikki Bella.

Just hope she doesn't act the same dickish way she does on Total Divas and Tough Enough or it'll be unbearable.

I think we'll see a different side of her .... the real side of her basically, as explained earlier, things like Tough Enough etc.. and reality shows like that with auditions is pantomime, it's more about the judges than it is the contestants.

She might still play a part if asked about Tough Enough and her being as she is on it, as the show is still going on ... but aside from that, I think it'll be alright :)

Would have been cool to rather see Taker bumped up, or someone unsuspected like Joey Styles

Should be a very good interview. Her interview with Jericho was highly entertaining and one of his top rated interviews to date according to him. I expect more out of this one. Paige doesn't give a crap about holding back, just to please certain people. She'll say however she feels (sometimes it gets her into trouble). I fully expect Austin to bring up Tough Enough (who knows maybe he brings up Hogan), the divas revolution, her early days, how she deals with constant criticisms and how she handles being so young in a company while accomplishing more in one year than most do in a career. Lots of topics to go over, I personally cant wait.

I'm not disappointed that the guest is Paige, as much as I don't think there will be much said that I haven't heard in her Jericho podcast already. Which is a shame because I love Austins podcasts but I have a feeling this is going to just rehash what I've heard before, a few brief mentions of the NXT girls and that'll be a day.

If someone hadn't heard that podcast with Jericho then I would say this will be a good podcast to tune in to. Sadly for those of us who have I feel we won't get anything too interesting out of it. But to assume her career is too short, and undeserving of the podcast is nonsense.

This is where I can understand the fans disappointment, I'm a fan of Paige, but I can understand how her as a guest would be disappointing and it's not fair to shoot someone down because they feel this, they're entitled to feel it, they obviously do ... so there's nothing wrong with that.

It's like what can Paige say that hasn't been said already, her family history is documented in a documentary in full, she's only been in the WWE for a short time, she's working for the company so as outspoken as she may be, she's going to be company pleasing (obviously, as we all would be) ... as her career is still growing ... but we'll have to see, there may be things we're not thinking about that can be spoken about in the podcast that could be interesting but I do get people's initial disappointment with it.

This is coming from someone who likes Paige but I get it.

I can definitely understand why people would be surprised (not disappointed) at Paige being the guest, given the position all previous guests have had in the company she is definitely a step down but I am excited none the less. Even though she may have to be a tad more PC with her answers compared to say Paul Heyman I still think SCSA will do his job and get a really good conversation going. Being a big Paige fan I have heard a lot of her podcast interviews and she always has so much personality and the interviewer always seems to be entirely enjoying talking to her. I only hope that SCSA asks some new questions we maybe haven't heard before.

TBH, I wasn't too thrilled to know Paige was gonna be the replacement podcast guest. I like her, but what will we hear about that hasn't already been said. Total Divas? Oh hell no! But we shall see. Hopefully Paige and Austin get into a convo about, her uh.........sexual undertones. Now that would be fun.
