- Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio said that Vince McMahon may have had another decree recently for announcers to not use the term "backbreaker." The term wasn't called when Sheamus used his Irish Curse backbreaker, and if the announcers don't call the move going forward, it probably came down from Vince McMahon to not use it.
Well, this is coming from just one occasion where the commentators didn't say the word 'backbreaker'. The whole story is built around that one incident. If it's true, though, then it's just another proof that Vince is too old to do his job properly.
Exactly. What kind of report is this? "They didn't call Sheamus' manoeuvre "the Irish Curse backbreaker", even though they sometimes only call it "the Irish Curse"!"
Then later in the show call Cesaro's tilt-a-whirl backbreaker a fucking backbreaker. :kobe
STOP TAKING THESE REPORTS SO SERIOUSLY FOR NO REASON.
I wonder if he has an issue with "jawbreakers", a popular candy.
No seriously, banning the term "backbreaker" is like...less than TV-G. That's not even TV-Y type shit right there. I don't even know what that is.
Jesus, this isnt even wrestling at all now is it? Its no wonder commentators are told not to call matches anymore. now we cant be calling any moves! How watered down does this product need to become? I am sure thy'll dot he same to neck-breaker next.
You guys get so emo when shit like this comes out.
I remember when most of this forum was bitching in their panties when Vince wanted to take the numbers out of Wrestlemania. I'm guessing Vince doesn't want to have wrestling terms that encourage breaking backs. Obviously not in the literal sense but there have been injuries recently, Tyson Kidd comes to mind.
WWE is a publicly traded company, it is what it is.
fpalm Many wrestlers has suffered broken necks before, it's fucking stupid to ban a term over it.
For fuck sake, why ban a term out of sensitivity to a wrestler with a broken neck, and still allow the wrestlers to use the move, it doesn't make any sense (and I don't even want them to ban backbreakers).
I've just burst out laughing reading that thread title.
WWE's turning into a right clumsy sitcom.
